The rose petals remind me of the annual remembrance day service held in London's Albert Hall. It also has a dome, and during the two minute silence so many, many thousands of poppy petals fall. Each petal represents a serviceman or woman who has lost their life in the line of duty since 1914.

What incredible footage of the thunderstorm from inside the Pantheon! That's not something you could ever plan for. Congrats for being in the right place at the right time and taking advantage of the prime filming opportunity.
Surprised to learn that the Pantheon wasn't converted to a Christian church untl the 7th century and wonder why it took so long. Perhaps the diminished population in Rome after the fall of the empire had something to do with it?

On a different note. It's always heartbreaking to see almost everyone filming and watching it through a small display, despite being there. Instead of living the moment, they are busy filming it. The experience is tainted and they have a movie which they will likely only see a couple of times in their lifes.

the Jews abt The Temple Mount Synagogue in Jerusalem called al-Aqsa Mosque. Better than being destroyed demolished left a wreck.
Always get mixed feelings when you realize all of Rome was that beautiful and because of the pope only thing that remains is the Pantheon.

Actually, what destroyed or severely damaged the buildings were earthquakes, and they were later looted by the popes or the people of the city because there was no budget or interest in preserving them. That's why it's so important for them to have a use or a strong connection with their population; it preserves and maintains them over time.

Preserving old buildings is a modern phenomenon because in the past old structures that had passed their use by date and were no longer of a functional nature to the needs of the present were almost always demolished and new structures put up. You have to realize that because of the fall of the western empire and the transference of the capital to Istanbul (Constantinople) the old city of Rome went from being a city of millions to about ten thousand (I believe) at one stage - just think of the logistics of a city of ten thousand trying to maintain buildings that were originally designed for a city of millions!The irony of it all was that buildings that were changed into churches (like the Pantheon) were often the ones to survive. After all the papacy also demolished the old basilica of St Peter's that dated from the Constantinian era in order to build a more modern and imposing structure which is the present St Peter's in the Renaissance style.

The "holy spirit" that descends at the beginning can also be translated as the "awful spirit" in the Greek original. It refers to Domitian after the father Vespasian and the son Titus, who originally commissioned the gospels. Domitian was quite a disturbed and bitter character, and his father and brother made sure the Flavians got immortalised in a central piece of Christian ideology not without the typical double entendre.
"Awful" means full of awe or inspiring awe. Its use to mean "very bad" is 19th century slang that unfortunately has stuck and become standard, distorting the meaning of older texts that use it correctly.
