At 10:00 pm last night tactical police officers were deployed on Tandridge Crescent following an earlier mass shooting at a kids birthday party: • Rexdale: Extended scen... that left four hurt. The attack had occurred two hours earlier and word had come out that a suspect was possibly inside a nearby highrise apartment. At that time, first TPS officers on scene entered the building and a "swat" like team of highly trained tactical police officers rushed to the scene with lights and sirens. An impressive ETF convoy of three unmarked suburban tactic SUV's preceded a utility van and a Terradyne armored truck in the residential neighborhood. Tactical cops remained at the scene momentarily while major crime investigators gathered nearby. No arrests have been made yet in this serious incident and police have set up a command post at the townhouse complex where the shooting happened.
At 8h pm Saturday evening a horrific shooting left four people, among them kids, hurt at a residential townhouse complex on Tandridge Crescent in Etobicoke, a neighborhood in Toronto, Canada. Initial reports suggest that one patient was VSA and that in total three children had been injured. A one year old baby who was grazed by bullets is seen being carried onto a stretcher and into an awaiting ambulance in these shocking images. Multiple firefighters along with paramedics were spotted working the busy scene. Numerous TPS officers in uniform along with plain clothes officers and investigators were also spotted at the site. The patients are a 23 year old male, an 11 year old, a 5 year old and a 1 year old, one of which is in critical conditions believed to be one of the two older children. Because of the high risk level of this incident, TPS alerted the public in a tweet that all non-emergency calls to the 911 center will not be answered. The public announcement followed the shooting incident in which numerous TFS cruisers were urgently required along the path from the scene to various hospitals to escort victims riding in ambulances code 3. A number of investigators held an impromptu meeting atop a Ford cruiser's hood to share early information. Police say that an unknown number of shooters were on foot at the time of the shots being fired. The violent targeted attack left evidence markers on the ground near inflatable kids toys. This incredible reckless act of violence involves innocent victims that were clearly visible in the daylight at that time of the day. The perpetrators opened fire on the crowd gathered to have fun at a party in a backyard filled with colorful toys for toddlers and families. Chaos erupted when shots were fired which caused a large police deployment in the early aftermaths. Two Toronto Fire Services fire chiefs were deployed at the major crime scene along with at least 5 ambulances, EMS supervisors, TPS special unit Public Safety Response Team (PSRT), a Special Constable and the ETF. Dozens of emergency vehicles with blinking strobe lights remained parked in the vicinity of the attack for some time after a secondary possibly related incident in a nearby highrise. Toronto Police Services have opened an investigation into the crime in an attempt to find and condemn the cowards responsible for these despicable dastardly acts.

It seems to me like wandering right into the middle of the scene from the woods .. at dusk .. might be a somewhat risky activity and could possibly lead to getting in trouble or shot - by the perp or accidentally by the cops...

all have covered it, especially locally in toronto. But you have to realize shootings like this are happening weekly across the country. There is a gang war in vancouver all over the lower mainland. Plus when there are investigations underway you hear stock answers from the police as to not give to much info out to the suspected criminals.

This is one of the “tougher” areas of Toronto. I’ve lived here my entire life, including in this very neighbourhood in the footage, and it doesn’t hold a candle to any of the worst spots I’ve been to in U.S. cities. This is spill-over gang related s**t and retaliation. I’ve never been in or near a shooting…closest is a stabbing outside a McDs in the burbs.

This is still a sad situation and tough place to live in Toronto some of the time. Much of my husband’s family lives in Rexdale and I lived there for a few years also. I also taught there-my first day almost 3 decades ago a guy was murdered in an apartment lobby and a pile of kids were late from trying to get safely around the scene. It’s not “that bad” of an area-lower income and some crime. That birthday party shooting is shocking as it was brazen and disgusting. I hope the shooters get ratted out!

A waste of money. The 'tank' shows up long after the criminals have fled the scene. It's just for show!
Better to be overly prepaid than under even if it's late, in chaos anything could happen perhaps even a second attack. They couldn't guarantee in the first few hours weather or not this was a terrorist attack.
