      Thanks Steve, :) i enjoyed it, and being able to play in a small place is great at the moment, means i can play on the kitchen table instead of going to the club to play with 28mm miniatures, :)

    I was sceptical of a game that looked like it had been hosted in a downstairs bathroom on. 2ft by 2ft board. But you know what, that was my bad, I enjoyed the battle report, the enthusiasm and I look forward to seeing more.

    • @GDWargames
      @GDWargames  3 года назад +2

      Hi Norm, thats an option i may try, Warlord are selling the regiments as 5 bases, at 60mm each that puts the 5 the same with as 28mm Black powder units, so smaller if definitely the way the go. :)

    I hope that you will make a million more "ACW Epic battle reports", there are like NONE ACW Epic battle reports out there !!??

    Hi
    First off, love the scenario and the models looks awesome. I think I’ll try this off myself, but, there is a huge but) make sure you know the rules before a game like this.
    I couldn’t quite enjoy it when the errors came so rapidly. Let me take you through a few. )I’m not posting this to be mean but I really thought this could be a good bat rep if you had some grasp of the rules.)
    1st: black powder is played in rounds and turns. And one side make their whole round before the opponent. That concludes moves, shooting and close combat.
    2nd: a canon is either at half range, long range or close range. The -1 applies when shooting long range (over half range). If your cannon gets 2 dice for half range it shouldn’t had -1 penalty.
    3:however, the union infantey should have, when shooting at an enemy behind a fence.
    4: units cannot shoot when they have moved more than once (glory haleluja! supplement)
    5: a unit cannot charge after move. A charge is a move and must be ordered and rolled for.
    6: if a unit moves through another friendly unit within 12’’ of the enemy it must make a «pass through line» test.
    7 a unit in marching colum or limbered arrillery gets a +1 modifier when rolling for order and ALWAYS gets one move even if the order failed.
    The are some more but I think these are the most important ones.
    Again, I hope I say this in a matter you understand this was just meant to help improve your next bat rep 😁.

      Hi Klas i have played a few games of black powder, but like most people not in the last 12 months, I should of stated at the start i was going to be using the basic rules as per the get starting leaflet in the Waterloo starter set,
      point 1 I did do this union did there command first then confeds, union did there shooting then Confed.
      point 2 Yep i messed that up, got confused with medium range and long range for some reason i though medium range extended over the half range of the weapon, dho.
      point 3 yeah i agree missed that, although the union lossed bad enough as it was.
      point 4 i did not know about this rule, i will need to read through the glory haleluja! supplement, and see if there is anymore, as i said above i was just using the basic rules from the waterloo starter set.
      Point 5 I'm sure I said about charging, and i didn't do it because the Confed were behind a fence and had no casualties, again maybe i wasn't clear on that being part of the command phase,
      point 6 and 7 again not in the basic rules.
      I'm sorry that the errors distracted from your enjoyment i will hopefully do better next time, I am also assuming the 32 page leaflet in the Warlord ACW starter set will be like the one in the Waterloo set and be cut down rules, again thanks for pointing out the errors, at the end of the day you are helping me to make better content and i thank you for your input, hoping the next one will be more enjoyable for you, now were is that glory haleluja! supplement, :)

    Really fun battle scenario. The minis look fantastic. What scale and basing did you use?
    The Confederates seemed to be a bit too disciplined for green State troops, and the Federals seemed to be shaken too easily. Also the Confederates took the artillery shots like veterans. I guess that fence line and the lack of Federal naval support gave the Confederates the courage they needed to win the day 😉

    • @GDWargames
      @GDWargames  3 года назад +1

      Hi Jonathan the minis are the Warlord Black powder Epic Battles ACW figures approximately 1/2 inch tall, the bases are 3/4 x 21/4 incs in size or 20x60mm

    Looks like a game system with VERY bloodless combat, which was rather unlike the American Civil War. I am also not a fan of a unit being able to move up and open fire on the defenders before they can even fire back. Also not really indicative of the American Civil War.

    • @GDWargames
      @GDWargames  3 года назад +2

      Hi Phil, yeah the game is more about moral, than the physical removal of models, in larger games when you can concentrate fire from 3 or 4 regiments onto one attacking regiment is the best way to break enemy regiments, also this game was played with the basic Black powder rules, in Glory hallelujah the Black Powder ACW supplement, its gives additional rules, one if which is in the command phase if you move more than once you cannot shoot your muskets
