Hey Guys when a Horse is gelded it is similar but when they leave 1 testicle/ball (as horses sometimes suck one up) they use them as Rigs in a stable situation just to bring the Mares on quicker for the Stallion. Great video as I have never seen bulls being done before. Cheers Denise- Australia ( I used to have Quarter Horses with a magnificent Stallion)

Ahhh. I knew I wasn’t hearing things the other day. Hopefully the 1 nut wonder doesn’t give you hormone related behavior issues before harvest. Good luck!

Use a crusher. Way more effective than banding and not as messy as cutting.

I hadn’t considered that. Thank you! It seems like everyone around here either cuts or bands, I’m not sure why the burdizzo is less popular here.

We ended up with a One Nut Wonder this Summer and it really is a weird one. He was banded last year and all seemed just like a steer situation should be. He didnt display ANY bull behaviors this past winter until outta the blue we saw him mounting and having a full erection this past week. Argh!!! Undescended testicles can be a real difficult situation for sure because you dont see or feel them and until you witness the bull behavior, you're just in the dark about it! We just have to try and keep this guy separate until he goes to freezer camp!

I think they were teaching their kids how to do it and missed… the one we banded who knows. He only has another 15 months until camp 🤦🏼‍♂️

Something that might help you in the long run is this. Make it so that your cattle always have to leave through the headgate when you are done with them. Cattle are always looking for the easiest way out, and they will remember where the exit is. If you release them out the side when you are done working them, then they will tend to the latch for that side exit. However, I have found that if you always make them go through the headgate then they will be more willing to go through that way. I realize that always isn’t an option, but it is something to keep in mind. Also, if you can have a time or two where you make them go through the headgate but do not catch them. This will also make them more willing to go through the headgate of your chute. I hope that this advice helps, and you are free to use or disregard as you wish.
A vet would probably be more that happy to come and cut that one nutted calf for you or if you have a farmer or rancher around who cuts their cattle with a knife. That would be the way to fix the problem of the 1 nutted calf. I hope that this helps.

Good tips! We were going to cut him but we were worried about fly strike.

@@SweetBriarFarmMichigan There is a way that you cut them where you don’t have to worry about him losing lots of blood. If you do it incorrectly, then they can lose a lot of blood. I just wanted you to be aware and I will stop adding advice to your video. 🤭🙂

So he is what is called a STAG bull..
Just guessing but I am assuming he was banded early in life,it very hard to count to 2 when the calf is only a few days old.
Done it myself, not something you want to happen.
    Butcher him early.

We did our last one at about 2 months old.
I am pretty sure the people we bought them from were teaching their kids how to do it. It happens not a huge deal but will be an inconvenience for sure.
