Travis is no joke, this lesson is the reason I've opened up hundreds of new doors off this one lesson, one of the most important points on how to ATTACK any scale
Mr. Dykes, thank you so much for sharing your gift with us and I'm referencing your grace and patience when teaching. I"m 60 and just beginning to learn how to play bass. Great bass player, great teacher! I thank God for you sir. Really appreciate the simplicity of your lessons.
Thanks guy , made very plan and simple, nothing left but practice, practice, practice, you've been a great help , before looking at this I had said I wanted to find some one teaching on pentatonics and how to work them in music runs , you the man thanks guy !!!
Awesome lesson! I just wanted to clarify something for anyone confused by the note names in the key of A. Travis was using enharmonic equivalents when he said that there is a Gb and a Db in the key of A. Gb is the same as F# and Db is the same as C#. Thanks for the video! I see what I’ll be spending time on in the shed now!
Really followed this lesson from start to finish and I actually feel more confident. To my surprise, I've been using this before without even knowing 🤯🤯🤯🤯
you got the feel I can hear your magic thank God for music what would we do without it. life is art and different modes, I am glad you got love and passion for rock & roll, I don't know what your genre is but keep the rock rolling on like our ancestors who gave us music. Jesus bless you to be a truly great man. !!!PEACE OUT!!! BROTHA
This is what iv'e been looking for . I've seen tons of bass videos and this one is the most beneficial one. I had speed and new the pentatonic scale but didn't know how to use it in my playing. Now i know. Thank you !
1. Learn how to use extended pentatonic scale (connecting position through horiztonal movement!) 2. Play across position with only d and g string 3. Groupings (of 3 and 4) for each position
I always found major pentatonic to be a huge pain in the ass in terms of positions. Having mastered the minor pentatonic to death, I just treat it as major with a different root. A major = F# minor with a root in the A basically
Minor pentatonic Thought you said major But the run you played is a 2 octave minor pentatonic Or am I just confused I guess I should watch the whole video before commenting Great content as always
I learned the pentatonic scale and got bored of hearing it because I play it so much and what happened eventually was to use it only with some type of rythem or it becomes meaningless
Thanks Tee Man, I'm not a bass player. But thanks to you , me and my cheap amazon acoustic bass are pissing off real bassist around the world. Check me out Tee man.ruclips.net/video/z0O8YuULbJg/видео.html
this lesson on it’s own has given me multiple “oh now I get it moments!” 😅🔥, Travis Dykes is the real deal.

Love your videos. You just get right to it. Not 5 minutes of talking where I feel like have to forward the video. 👍

Definitely opened up a lot of things that I quite didn’t get before…a BIG THANKS TO YOU BROTHER!!👍

Yeah I was wondering about that! Why was he using Db instead of C# - that doesn’t make sense in A Major.
Please do a video on how you remember intervals so well and how you memorized the fretboard!
Has he done it?
@@cottoncottoncotton 😂
These are the lessons I've been search for . Thanks Travis 🙏

Hi do you teach ?
Apparently they told Beethoven he’d never be a composer as he was profoundly deaf ... but did he listen !! 😎
For me it's not the fills . . It's the groove .
With the drums I find myself using the same kind of groove. . Fills is not a problem
I still dont know what are scales
PLS HELP!!!!
I won’t to know how to slap the bass plzz

I learned the pentatonic scale and got bored of hearing it because I play it so much and what happened eventually was to use it only with some type of rythem or it becomes meaningless
