Sneak Peek inside Expeditions Africa! (Pathway is open)

Hi everyone! Hope you all are doing well. I got a new video today which I took a tour of Expedition Africa exhibit at my home zoo…Oklahoma City Zoo. Last month, they open the pathway for guest to walk through and go inside the area like the 🦒 barn and more. It was incredible to see what they did with that area because before it was a dead zone for a long time which used to be housing elephants, hippos, and rhinos. Hmm... This new exhibit almost feels half baked to me. Its not quite what they were showing it off to be. Maybe when its gets closer to summer theyll start gardening and living up to the botanical garden name. Idk things just kinda feel unfinished. Some things look great though like the viewing huts for the Hyenas and Painted Dogs, the Lemur enclosure and building with the reptiles and mole rats and others. But then the savanna portions look bare, and empty. Like I said, maybe when they start to do some gardening and landscaping itll look better and more like the concept art, but for now this is falling a bit flat to me. Especially when compared to Sanctuary Asia which is gorgeous!

I went in like December 2023 so it was cold that day and that’s why not a lot of people was there and some of the animals were indoors and not ready to be out yet so that’s why it’s looks empty…But if you go now, it’s better to see Expedition Africa because animals for this exhibit are out and about
