thanks for the video, but why do you guys skip over the hard parts of the installation? you did not show how to tighten the rubber 90 deg boot that goes on the Turbo. how am I supposed to reach and tighten the clamp?
So what does it actually add, or is this one of those things which are completely plasebo until you start upgrading other components where more air would start making difference and getting it tuned? As in, will this do anything really on a car if everything else is stock?
2:39 I WISH u could show more exactly in detail how you removed those parts... Can you @ecstuning please or someone help me with the missing parts of these two? I found the flexible connection (1k0 129 618 AH) in SH, the plastic (1K0 805 971 C) that attaches to the bar is new... what else is missing?? for golf 5 gti
Can you show how to get in behind the engine to remove other air flow pipes (unless you already have) please? I have an air leak somewhere and I'm hoping it's an easy fix to find the source of the leak. Thanks.
2:50 Those posts for the engine cover have a 10mm nut behind them and it sucked to remove them never mind putting the nut back on after the heat shield was in place
Quick question, no problems with fresh air getting into the air filter? Seems a little boxed in. I know it's isolated from the engine (and that's really well done). Just don't see where it's getting a lot of fresh air.
there is an intake slot in the grill which goes under the rim of the bay, trust me, it is getting a constant influx of cool air. basiaclly, where he unplugged the original air box is the vent
Hi , are you sure this air intake givers more power to engine? Standard intake in front in more effective intake, beside battery intake less air in my opinion! Johnny D Bergh
Hello! I have a 2008 Mk5 Jetta 2.0T and I’m looking to upgrade my turbo to some more power. I’m very familiar with your website I shop there all time. I was wonder what turbocharger would you recommend?
I'm getting a lot of controversy over whether or not cold air intakes do all that much. It would add eye candy to the engine bay, as well as free up space with the removal of the engine cover. However, some other car guys are telling me that a cold air intake is a waste of money, and that I would be better off saving my money for an APR chip. So can someone give me an honest answer: if I have a stock MKV GTI, will a cold air intake help in the long run? I notice most of the vendors who sell the intakes say that they help, claiming increases in power of up to 15-20 hp. But most people think they only add 3 hp at MOST. I want to know for real whether it's worth the investment, before I drop $250 on a fancy intake. Thanks.
A tune is your best "bang for the buck" and is a great first step towards more power. Intakes begin adding significant power once you are tuned. This particular intake made solid gains when coupled with a stage 2 tune. We have dyno charts for both stock and tuned vehicles on the product page here: goo.gl/N1n2ay Also, the intake will help you hear your engine and turbo much better. The turbo sounds make driving the car so much more enjoyable.
Do you guys happen to have an Intake install video for an MK5 GTI with a TSI Engine?? Seems like most MK5 GTI servicing vids are for the older MK5 GTIs with the FSI engine :(.
TurboDifferent Nope. The latest models of the MK5 GTI, 2008.5 and up, came with the TSI engine. All previous MK5 GTIs' before that are the ones with the FSI engine... It sucks that most MK5 GTI DIY vids are only made for the FSI models 😒.
Are you sure? I have a Golf GTI mk5 from 2008.10 and is TFSI. In fact I NEVER saw a mk5 TSI. Never. They may be rare. A TFSI and TSI engines have a lot of differences, but the big one is very clear: the engine have timing belt? If yes is a TFSI, if not (timing chain) it's a TSI. But it's possible that they have introduced the 2.0 TSI engine sooner and if that is the case search for DIY for a mk6 GTI an not MK5 GTI. *TFSI and FSI in this context are the same, they are just marketing name to differentiate FSI engines with or without Turbo. Since all GTI's have Turbo they are called Turbo FSI or TFSI (specially by Audi).
2 of their videos sort of explain it. They have one that goes through how to replace the diverter valve on a mk5 fahrenheit which I can attest is the exact same on a regular GTI since I have one and have replaced my diverter valve once.. Then they have one going through how to do the forge atmospheric bov and their full bov assembly on a mk6 with the relocation kit which I can also attest is essentially the same on a mk5 gti with the exception being that you have to be under the car instead of working on it from the engine bay. To make it work you kinda just have to apply concepts from one video to the other. Plus if you order the forge stuff it comes with detailed instructions. Here is the diverter valve one ruclips.net/video/dmCcAp5ykPg/видео.html Here is the other video that has diverter valve replacement, atmospheric BOV and forge bov: ruclips.net/video/H7F7OPUtyjU/видео.html
We don't have a DIY video but we do have installation PDF instructions. Click on an intake and then go to the installation tab on the product page. Here's the link: goo.gl/nxmqvq
ok thanks, i have bought 2 different intakes and both had fuel trim problems. i'll give this one a shot but good to know you said it works without any problems.
@@ecstuning Just put and ECS CAI on my mk5 and the MAF sensor does NOT like the new CAI. I have to unplug the MAF sensor to help it run. Does it need to be tuned? Any suggestions?
nice vid3eo , it would of been even better if you had started the engine to see if it throws the ECu light and we all would of liked to hear the sound from the new intake....
