    Ever wonder where the magic of early trance comes from? In this very special extended episode of Tranceportal ITSW we join Enigma State in his time-capsule of a music studio, as he runs us through the nuts and bolts of his hardware based workflow.
    TR-909 drums, Roland JP Supersaws, and tonnes of classic hardware combine to perfectly capture one of the most iconic eras of the genre we love.

    havent been this excited for classic sounding so fresh. Many nights I have dreamt of that feeling I used to get in the 90s and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving that feeling back to me

    This literally sounds like a long lost Gatecrasher track from 1999/2000. It's that good and that true to the genre.
    Very well done mate!!

    Absolutely fantastic track, and I'm glad to have been given a demonstration of how true classic trance is and could be made today. Goes to show you that making good classic trance is/was far more complicated than we sometimes even realize! Nathan aka Enigma State, I couldn't be happier that someone is bringing back the Golden Age sound in its entirety! Greetings from frigid Minneapolis, Minnesota here in the US!

    Someone had to save the essence of pure trance, and Enigma State has arrived to do it. Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽.

    This is fantastic although software is brilliant, hardware just has the soul of the older trance sound that is hard to match or beat

    This isn't so much like making with trance hardware but recording hardware into a daw and effecting it with vst processing software. Where are the outboard fx, compressor, gate, limiter, mixing desk etc? Plus what really bugs me with vids like this (2 for a penny on youtube) is they/you never give away the real secrets, I geuss we have to pay you for that! What we really want to know is how you use reverb properly to give the best settings for the elements creating depth in a trance track? It's always a case of "now lets add a bit of delay and reverb" tweak-tweak... really! Thats it, no more info... really hepful, thanks! I won't be back!

    • @EnigmaState
      @EnigmaState Год назад +5

      In an honest answer to your question, there is no secret. There is no "best setting". There's no one size fits all. Its just a case of what works. There is no "pay for that" answer, and what one person does can be different to another.
      For this track (and most of my work) adding reverb and delays literally just a case of "tweak-tweak" and thats it unless i want a particular effect on a sound.
      But, I dont follow conventional "modern" productions techniques.
      On this track most of the delay and reverb was per channel, but I could have just created delay and reverb send and sent all the channels to that.
      The best answer you can find on the internet/RUclips and its free is : if it works, it works. If it sounds good, it sounds good.

      Like with anything, surely it's the end result that matters?. He's captured the spirit of the "classic" sound regardless of using some modern techniques using a modern DAW
