Love the video since it helps to answer some questions I've had since I heard the news. Excellent work. That money, if handled properly, would go a very long way to pay teachers, police and others plus amp up the health care and education system. Not to mention other infrastructure like roads etc. Plus, over time it would ease the tax burden and effects of inflation on the typical Jamaican. I'm not even talking about the jobs this new industry would produce. This could propel us into becoming a first-world country. Keep up the good work and bless up yourself.

The government should set aside a predetermined percentage of Jamaica's oil income to put in each and every jamaican bank account annually for them to use it as they want. This would be in addition to government spending on economic, social, cultural and infrastructural areas.

The fact that the company wants 75% of the cost in the first year is crazy. That cost don’t involve training locals that cost don’t involve the low cost of labor. That is the cost of investing. Yes the rig and platform is there they bringing the workers and equipment. If Jamaica want to get more of the profit they need to take more cost. If it makes sense to get a loan buy the equipment themselves have them bring their employees to teach Jamaicans how to work in the industry. The method is already know Jamaican just need to start practicing how to do those jobs

Whenever any foreign companies extract any natural resources from any country they always want most of the proceeds, for example bauxite was mined by the Canadian but Jamaica only gets 45% of the profit, it was not until Edward Siaga ,he tell the bauxite company that Jamaica should get 55% and they get 45% some of them pack up and leave but some return most bauxite companies close down only the Nain Plant in st Elizabeth was not closed down.

Don't get too excited about this. Number 1 they have found oil but not enough to make it economical to get. Maybe one day they will but not yet. Also look at all the African countries with huge natural resources. The leaders of these countries become billionaires while the people starve in poverty. Why would Jamaica be any different. Look at bauxite yes it created jobs but thats it where's the money gone.

While oil is lucrative the fallout in the environment and the associated risks are to be noted. Jamaica relies on tourism as its highest current source of revenue and tourism delves a lot in nature and the natural scenery and beauty of jamaica how much do you think would be left after heavy long term oil production in the area .take for eg.environmental catastrophy going on in Nigeria due to oil production. Knowing this is a third world nation do you think the regulations will be adhered to the fullest especially the fact that this will be a new industry which will take bit of time for those employed to get fully educated and on par with world standards of operation .

We can use the profits from the oil to invest into more renewable energy sources like a solar scheme. Government is already pushing for less oil reliance and renewable adoption with solar tax exemptions and exemptions on electric car imports. We can't transition into renewables overnight and this gives a good buffer

All the benefits will all go to non black Jamaicans. The only benefit black Jamaicans will derive from it, are more cook shops, more low level laboring jobs. The white ruling class have already divvy up how the profits will be shared amongst themselves.
