I warn you, this episode is gross and disturbing, as it is filled with vomit and poop. Lisa Loud would have a field day with it. * Recess: Bonky Fever - Mikey goes through a phase where he becomes obsessed with Bonky the Dragon, the show's equivalent of Barney the Dinosaur, out of fear of turning ten, and his friends try to break him of the habit. * Hey Arnold: Arnold Betrays Iggy - When Arnold is tasked with delivering a homework assignment to a sick Iggy, he discovers that Iggy wears bunny pajamas. Iggy makes Arnold promise not to tell anyone, but the next day, Sid and Stinky make an eerily accurate guess on the secret. Iggy finds out and refuses to forgive Arnold no matter what Arnold does, which culminates in Arnold having to wear Iggy's bunny pajamas in front of the whole neighborhood.
For the "Horrid Henry", I recommend wedding episode, and the episode where Perfect Peter goes bad. Henry's parents could use a verbal thrashing from Neff. Though, to Vomitting Vera's credit, at least her parents enjoy having her around. Not to mention, they seem to give Vera a schedule as seen in one episode where baby Vera cleans up her own vomit.
Even before watching the episode where Helga talks to the therapist about her childhood, I was never annoyed with how mean Helga would be towards Arnold because we as the audience knew she harbors a crush for him which added another dimension to her character. At times she would be a bad friend towards Phoebe but there were moments where she actually supported her, like when she goes with Phoebe to meet her idol pop singer. What I also liked about this show is how karma would come bite Helga in the @$$ sometimes when she did something wrong, whereas with D.W. she would usually ALWAYS get what she wanted, she rarely learned her lessons in being a better person and she would always get away with being such a brat.
Let's review Helga gets shunned from an all girls slumber party bc she didn't act like a girly girl. The boys tease her over this fact and even Arnold acts like a tool. When Helga spies on the party, she discovers all the girls making fun of her behind her back including her best friend, Phoebe. Desperate to fit in, Helga pushes all her morals aside and gives herself a full make over and crashes the slumber party to try and prove to the popular girls that she can be a girly girl too. Phoebe sees through this BS and tries telling Helga that she likes the old her, even though she was literally laughing at her an hour ago. The boys decided to spy on the slumber party to laugh at Helga some more. When it was time to get a facial, Helga changes her mind and stands up to the other girls and reminding them that they're all just kids and shouldn't worry about make up and high heels. When they discover that the boys were spying on them, they managed to capture Harold and give him a make up to give him a taste of his own medicine. So in other words, Matt tried to downplay Helga's insecurities about fitting into beauty standards, being picked on by all her peers, and later learns that she shouldn't try to hide her true self just to please others. F U Matt Neff (Kidding, but srs there were other episodes of Helga acting way worst and all her aggression comes from her being raised in a neglectful family.)
As a person who grew up being an outcast in the family i don't hate Helga because she was being neglected by her parents they preferred her older sister who is also being controlled as well
I figure that's why they hired Inge to look after her in the episode "Helga and the Nanny." I've been strongly urged to use that term colloquially to refer to the staff my mom strongly urged to hire for me due to concerns regarding my Asperger Syndrome diagnosis, even though she seems to be strongly against me using that term. I'm just glad my mom finally retired so that both of us can spend more time together!
Well Helga's household is very broken, her dad doesn't even acknowledge her just only his job & a chauvinistic, her mom an alcoholic mixed with pills, they only acknowledge the older sister Olga. Which is very sad. she needs new family members and role models.
Honestly the nanny kinda had Helga do like stuff her way and not Helga’s way if that makes sense like she had to dress like her and eat stuff like her. Idk I was kind of iffy with the nanny.
I agree, but I'm confused as to where this came from regarding this video. I don't recall a single time that Arnold is made out to be the jerk for rejecting Helga. From what I recall, the times Arnold has rejected Helga's apologies or offers of friendship were only ever seen as justified due to Helga's bullying behavior pushing Arnold over the edge. Unless there are some other characters in this vid you're referring to and I just missed it?
Here's the synopsis of the episode When Arnold sees Iggy wearing bunny pajamas, he promises he won't tell anybody - but when Sid and Stinky guess, Iggy refuses to forgive Arnold.
@mattneff Iggy wears bunny pajamas and Arnold accidentally see's and he begs Arnold not to tell anyone which Arnold promises. The next day on the bus Sid and Stinky are talking about how cool Iggy is and Arnold slips up laughing mumbling about bunny pajamas.

But Francine wants him to admit he was wrong, so she keeps bothering him all day, until Buster tells her Arthur is right. (Season 18 and episode 50)
One episode of Hey Arnold that pissed me off, when Helga was bullying Arnold and no does or says anything, but then when he does something to her he gets in trouble. They ignored it when she was bullying him but when he did something to her they got upset at him.
And even though Helga is way easier to sympathize with than DW & Caillou combined due to her tough family life, it’s still important to remember that it’s just a cartoon.
I will never understand the Bully❤Victim trope. Why would you want to date someone who goes out of their way to make you miserable or even beat you up?!

Helga actually a very interesting character. I recommend Helga‘s nanny and that episode. She is completely in the wrong for getting her nanny fired, and gets called out on it. She realizes what a positive impact her nanny had on her life and her family, but it’s too late to make things right and she hast to live with the guilt of her actions
Frankly Helga is a really sympathetic character, but I probably still wouldn't get along with her that well if we actually shared a classroom or anything.
AAAHH Real Monsters There's one episode of that series that would be perfect to cover, and that episode is: Hooked on Phobics (Oblina and Krumm were at their absolute worst in this episode by laughing at Ickis's failed scare attempt on the viewfinder, almost caused him to leave the Academy forever if not for one of his magazines advertising a scare kit falling out of his briefcase he hid under his pillow being the one thing keeping him from following through on that promise, and forced him to take matters into his own hands by purchasing a scare kit to get the last laugh)
I would like to say Helga and DW are no where near the some level. There have been times Helga can be very nice and caring unlike DW. And more then likely Big Bob wouldn't even notice it Helga was at his birthday.
Ok to be fair the sleep over episode. I say Helga crashing the party saved them from being bored Plus at their age they shouldn’t be putting avocado face masks as Helga stated they are 9 years younger old. Instead they should have been playing part games like light as a feather stiff as a board.

Never liked Helga. Like at all. I understand why she turned out the way she did, but having a rough past is not an excuse to be a jerk. If she had an interest in arnold, she could've just told him or be friends with him. Not torture the guy. I might get heat for this, but honestly, I think arnold would've been better off with someone else. Since Rhonda and Lila were the cutest, I think he would've been better off with one of them.
8:51-This was an episode suffering from it being in the early stages of the show. Pulling the prank would happen but the arrogance is very out of character for Helga. She would show it outwardly as an act but they would never hace her believe this hype later on and the way she sees everyone else better off without her is a lot closer to how she really sees things in the show. She has confidence and pride in her talents but is shown to be iverall very self depricating and having very little self esteme as a resukt of her home life. She is the reject younger daughter of an alchoholic and asshat who shower her older sister with affectuon but never really seemed to want Helga. This clearly influences her own views of herself which is why she acts the way she does as a result. She would never expect others to miss her like this and even shows genuine euphoria when thsoe she repsects like Arnold acknowlage her in any positive way whatsoever. She does some dumb and messed up stuff later on but most of what you gathered here can be owed up to it being too early in the show and the writers not having figured out exactly how they wanted to portray her. Wven later on, its shown she feels immediate regret and self hatred for those bad things she did or did them unintentionally but makes efforts to right her wrongs secretly. She would never just act malicious like this without some nuance accompanying it.
Helga may have her flaws but they aren't helped by her rough home life. One episode revealed she only became a bully in preschool because when the others notice her feelings for Arnold she had to act tough and that's why she is an open about her feelings for him. Not to mention it seems everyone in Arnold's town even Arnold himself is either a jerkwad sham or bully even some of the adults so whatever town Arnold lives in it seems like a toxic environment to raise children.
It is funny and toxic that Helga stalks Arnold, but gets jealous he likes other girls. Plus that "Helga's not a girl" is funny and honest given that most people don't see her a feminine person.
You should someday do a video about the "New Bully on the Block" episode. What fans seem to hate the most about that episode is what Wolfgang and Ludwig did to Arnold and his friends, and that horrible ending. For the closing recap, I'd certainly love to hear you say something like "And we never see Ludwig again after this episode, because he was likely sent back to juvenile hall for tormenting the fourth graders."
For the longest time, I thought Gerald Field, the field that they worked so hard to renovate and claim for themselves, was forever lost because of this episode...
Hilarious as always even though we all know deep down Helga has more complexity than that.... Now, an FU Oscar mini series that would be even funnier 😂

I really want to believe you made this up 😆
For the "Horrid Henry", I recommend wedding episode, and the episode where Perfect Peter goes bad. Henry's parents could use a verbal thrashing from Neff. Though, to Vomitting Vera's credit, at least her parents enjoy having her around. Not to mention, they seem to give Vera a schedule as seen in one episode where baby Vera cleans up her own vomit.
@@mattneff I really wish I were.
@@mattneffthey're not making it up! It's one of, if not the worst, episode of the whole show
Even before watching the episode where Helga talks to the therapist about her childhood, I was never annoyed with how mean Helga would be towards Arnold because we as the audience knew she harbors a crush for him which added another dimension to her character.
Let's review
Helga gets shunned from an all girls slumber party bc she didn't act like a girly girl.
5:26 “Dressed as Doris Day if she charged by the hour” that was GOLD 😂
As a person who grew up being an outcast in the family i don't hate Helga because she was being neglected by her parents they preferred her older sister who is also being controlled as well
I figure that's why they hired Inge to look after her in the episode "Helga and the Nanny." I've been strongly urged to use that term colloquially to refer to the staff my mom strongly urged to hire for me due to concerns regarding my Asperger Syndrome diagnosis, even though she seems to be strongly against me using that term. I'm just glad my mom finally retired so that both of us can spend more time together!
"Doris Day if she charged by the hour " im dead LMFAO
Well Helga's household is very broken, her dad doesn't even acknowledge her just only his job & a chauvinistic, her mom an alcoholic mixed with pills, they only acknowledge the older sister Olga. Which is very sad. she needs new family members and role models.
You HAVE to do the Nanny episode. Helga purposely tried to sabotage the nanny just so she could stop nurturing her
Which episode was that?
idk. helga seems logical even if darkened by short life, someone like DW has no reason
Honestly the nanny kinda had Helga do like stuff her way and not Helga’s way if that makes sense like she had to dress like her and eat stuff like her.
Idk I was kind of iffy with the nanny.

Can we all agree that "Male character is a jerk for disregarding a woman's advances" is a trope that needs to go away?
I agree, but I'm confused as to where this came from regarding this video. I don't recall a single time that Arnold is made out to be the jerk for rejecting Helga. From what I recall, the times Arnold has rejected Helga's apologies or offers of friendship were only ever seen as justified due to Helga's bullying behavior pushing Arnold over the edge. Unless there are some other characters in this vid you're referring to and I just missed it?
@@almightyk11 yes I agree
I give Helga a pass because unlike D.W Helga has a very rough home life.
To be fair, Bob totally deserves Helga ditching on his birthday for the years of neglect he put her through.

I hope you review that Arnold Betrays Iggy episode from Hey Arnold
What happens in that episode?
Here's the synopsis of the episode
When Arnold sees Iggy wearing bunny pajamas, he promises he won't tell anybody - but when Sid and Stinky guess, Iggy refuses to forgive Arnold.
@mattneff
Iggy wears bunny pajamas and Arnold accidentally see's and he begs Arnold not to tell anyone which Arnold promises. The next day on the bus Sid and Stinky are talking about how cool Iggy is and Arnold slips up laughing mumbling about bunny pajamas.
The worst part is that Iggy made Arnold be humiliated in front of the whole neighborhood
FU IGGY!
@@mattneffthe animators vowed to never air that episode ever again….that’s how bad it is, how much they screwed over Arnold’s character development, they hung him out to dry without any clothes pins.

Do "Arthur Calls it" for the next Francine episode (It's about when Arthur becomes the umpire in a baseball game and they lost when he says Buster was out.
Nicktoons teaching little girls how to stalk hits different after Quiet On Set.
Yeah turns out even the Nicktoons weren't safe from Dirty Dan's influence.
"I'm dirty Dan!"
It also taught them it didn’t work for Helga OR Arnold here while the healthy relationship of Phoebe and Gerald went fine.
@@rionaka8835 And also showed that interracial relationships are cool too. :)
Helga is a stalker in a unhealthy family dynamic.
I guess you could say she’s the pinnacle of that one anime term used to describe a girl who is in love with one but acts like a like they hate them I feel like if this show was ever a anime she would be the pinnacle of Sundre
UM ACTUALLY it's spelled Tsundere 😆
@@mattneffI call them psychos
I don’t blame her for missing big Bob’s birthday. Have you met the guy? And at least she’s not Iggy and the bunny suit.
Anyone else waiting for Janet from Magic SchoolBus?
Frankly Helga is a really sympathetic character, but I probably still wouldn't get along with her that well if we actually shared a classroom or anything.
The only episode of Hey Arnold involving "hell" was the Haunted Train episode where the train, according to Grandpa, goes to the "fiery underworld"
Wait really? That sounds insane!
Well nitpick on my part I know but there was also the time Grandpa thought he was dead, saw Oscar and assumed he was in "the other place"
Putting make-up on boys was probably one of the worst things in the 90s 😂

There's one episode of that series that would be perfect to cover, and that episode is: Hooked on Phobics (Oblina and Krumm were at their absolute worst in this episode by laughing at Ickis's failed scare attempt on the viewfinder, almost caused him to leave the Academy forever if not for one of his magazines advertising a scare kit falling out of his briefcase he hid under his pillow being the one thing keeping him from following through on that promise, and forced him to take matters into his own hands by purchasing a scare kit to get the last laugh)

hahahahaha (my humor sucks)
I honestly like Helga, I relate to the character because one of my past stepdads was very neglectful, overly strict and he yelled a lot.
Helga is unironically the best character in Hey Arnold, the episode Helga on the Couch was life changing
Unless the rest of the demon spawns, helga has a sad backstory and is sympathetic
*Unlike
I would like to say Helga and DW are no where near the some level.
There have been times Helga can be very nice and caring unlike DW.
And more then likely Big Bob wouldn't even notice it Helga was at his birthday.
Ok to be fair the sleep over episode. I say Helga crashing the party saved them from being bored
Plus at their age they shouldn’t be putting avocado face masks as Helga stated they are 9 years younger old.
Instead they should have been playing part games like light as a feather stiff as a board.
5:29 Please Don't Say It Like that
Well, Arnold's first date with Helga was taking a train to hell together
Recess was also a cool show
Why is Ruth the only one who looks like she actually belongs in sixth grade?
I think cuz everyone else in the show is 9. I still think it's weird they made Arnold's crush much older than him 🤷♂
@@mattneff There are other recurring sixth graders in the show that look and act more like high school freshmen most of the time compared to Ruth. I know it's 90s cartoon, but they have boyfriends, wear makeup, and stay up until 10 or 11 on school nights. Even the fifth graders look older than Ruth.
@@mattneff From what I remember even the show made it clear that Arnold's crush was entirely superficial because when he finally talked to her, he realized he didn't actually know much about her and they had nothing in common

Her parents suck ass!!!
To be fair, her behaviour does come from an abusive/neglectful home life
Doesn’t excuse her being a bully though ❤

You should do an FU video for Helga's parents. They created such a horrible home life for Helga. Also if you havent yet, you should also do an FU video for Drew and Charlotte Pickles. Theyre the reason Angelica is such a brat.

Hey Matt if you don't have anything planned for Halloween in a few months you should cover Scary Godmother and her sequel (voiced by the ever iconic Tabitha St. Germain)it was so witty and had great humor when it aired back on cartoon network if you never watched it and was based on a book series with beautiful illustration's and yea the 3d animation aged liked a old Cheeto in a couch that stale but still has a slight of the cheesey flaver left can be little off putting but still a good watch also the relationship with the main character Hannah and her older cousin Jimmy honestly feels like reversed Arthur and DW where Hannah is a nice person who is related to a Spawn of Satan (Jimmy literally dressed as a devil thru the movies if thats not an insight into a person's soul then i don't know what is) because he really was a jerk to her on Halloween after their parents made arrangements to have him take her trick or treating with his friends cause who lets a small child out alone after dark and Hannah is terrified of the dark and monsters and he plotted to scare her enough to run home so he gaslight his friends into thinking that she's a baby who will slow them down and hold them back getting alot of candy but keep in mind his friends Bert, Katie, and Daryl has no kwams with her and Hannah even gave them each a king sized candy bars they thinks that's mean but gets roped in it anyway so jimmy makes up a lie where a old abandoned house is a home to monsters who eats children on Halloween if they don't get candy so he sends her in the house making things up that she is going to be eaten and after she throws her candy down the basement they all held the door making her think she was locked inside and she cried in fear then scary godmother appears and whisks her to the best Halloween monster party of the year and helps her with get over her fears but while Hannah having the time partying of her life jimmy thinks that she is still in there and is confused that she is not coming out but his friends are worried that something horrible happened to her in the house but he won't let them do anything but stand in the yard all night until he See's her screaming out of the house so he wasted everyone's Halloween because he could stand that he didn't get the situation he wanted and none of them got to enjoy the night so Hannah and her monster friend's came up with thier own prank to scare them and teach them a lesson after jimmy finally let's them search inside to find her and they got more then what they bargained for after meeting all of Hannah's monster friends and thinking their going to be eaten then Hannah comes and saves them and jimmy refusing to not leave her side all the way home but he is absolutely worst in the sequel Revenge of jimmy where he tries to ruin Halloween for everyone all because he got scared even tho he deserved it and his friends learned from that experience and become good friends with Hannah who is acting way more mature than him so he vandalized, breaking and entering, and obstruction of property to completely ruin Halloween cause he don't want the Monster's around and even tried to ruin Scary Godmother party but failed but he got so demented that he psyically changed into a Halloween version of the Grinch and refused to listen to anyone of how irrational he his but Hannah really saved Halloween for everybody from her male DW cousin but i think you would have fun with those movies and wake up alot of nostalgia of people who grew up with the films☠️👻🙀🌛🧟🧛🧙👸🌠🕸️🕷️🍭🍬🍫
Since Rhonda and Lila were the cutest, I think he would've been better off with one of them.
if not already one in existence, we need a "fu mr. and mrs. scotch" for "butters" 's parents on "south Park"
lol which episode should I cover for them?
@@mattneff hard to say where to start, there are so many instances with them being horrible parents to "butters", at least as many as DW being a brat!
I disagree with you, Matt. I like Helga
As someone who grew with an abusive dad.
I could never bring myself to hate Helga.
I think a lot of people agree with you.

Fu Randall?
I'm honestly surprised, Phoebe stayed friends with Helga.
Helga can be a pain and too harsh, but unlike DW and Caillou, she has some traits that make her more likable.
It is funny and toxic that Helga stalks Arnold, but gets jealous he likes other girls. Plus that "Helga's not a girl" is funny and honest given that most people don't see her a feminine person.
Helga is the only Tsundere Queen done Right
Fun fact: the scene with Harold and Rhonda is referenced again in "Egg Story", although for some reason Rhonda seems more embarrassed by it now.
What kind of rich girl super strength does Rhonda have to pull Harold on to the ride? The guy isn’t exactly a lightweight
