Is it just me or do the metros on the blue line sometimes smell like smoke or burnt wood? Last week when I was there at Jean-Talon the train smelt like burnt wood.
Not just the blue line, but all lines. The stm uses a wood brake shoe for it's braking system which also happens to be dipped in peanut oil. That smell you get is just a combo of peanut oil and wood. Source: ruclips.net/video/NADXhKHuTpU/видео.html
@@SkyOfTheUniverse Hey Pat, thanks for the reply and just wanted to let you know I enjoy your content. Btw, enjoy your time in Halifax in the upcoming weeks. Safe travels my friend
They are also on the Green Line mixed with some MR-73. The Blue Line they did not put yet because Saint-Michel Station is not long enough for 9 wagons. As for the Yellow Line, I'm not sure, probably something to do with the same issue as the Blue, somewhat anyway.
What's going to happen when the MR-73s retire will the STM only have Azur's and will they have to extend the platforms at most of these stations or could they purchase a different variant of the Azur with 6-car sets instead of the original 9-car sets or purchase a new train altogether? Nice Catch, keep up the excellent work! :)
@@D_Ban when the azur was being tested on the blue line I thought I saw it at a couple of stations where it couldn't fit the whole train but hey that could be me.
There is a big difference between the MR73 and the Azurs. The new equipment is set up that both end cars are NOT motorized meaning they allow much flexibility in assembling as many cars as needed. The older sets were restricted to 1 to 3 sets of three cars, the middle of each set is not motorized but contains the air compressors. The former MR63 were the same. I am almost sure by the time the new extension is completed all stations will be operating a full set, St. Michel needs the flooring and walls to be finished.
You're a real night owl....checking out events while we are sleeping. Thanks for that effort.
My pleasure. Yeah it's a one time only night when the metro is open

Yeah that’s completely normal

Yeah exactly! It's the brakes you smell. They are indeed dipped in peanut oil

Someone was in the track like a passenger
Why did the stm only put azur trains in orange line ?

STM are still using the old trains?
Yeah on the Green, Yellow and Blue lines. On the Green Lines they are mixed with AZURS
Nope only AZUR trains on the Orange Line 🟠

The only station that would have to be extended is St-Michel. All the other ones can fit a 9 car train

Yeah all stations can fit the AZUR train except Saint-Michel 🔵
