Adiyogi Shiva Statue, Chikkaballapur Overview
Situated amidst the calming nature at the foothills of Nandi hills, the statue of Adiyogi Shiva is one of the major attractions of Chikkaballapur. It was constructed by Jaggi Vasudev, also known as Sadhguru, the founder of the Isha Foundation. The location is intended to serve as an important center for spiritual development.
Standing 112 feet tall, 82 feet wide, and 147 feet long, the statue is a replica of the Adiyogi Shiva statue at the Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The figure is named Adiyogi in homage to Shiva (Shankara), the famed Hindu deity who originated the Yoga Sadhana, and it translates to "the first yogi." The magnificent monument weighs 500 tons of steel, and according to the Guinness Book of World Records, it is the "Largest Bust Sculpture" ever built.
