The people from the party maybe Susan the girl who owned the duplex panicked and dumped him there. They will never admit because they know police don't have solid evidence.

      I think it was a guy who got molested as a kid getting revenge. This happened before all the pedo priests were outed, so I doubt the cops considered this angle back then. The fact the killer left all that cash on the ground on purpose tells me the killer wanted to make a statement this was personal.

      Yup. I've heard this theory before too, and I think that there were more priests killed. • @ryanjacobson2508
      @ryanjacobson2508 2 года назад +4

      I'm guessing that those "party guests" were part of a really rough crowd, and Kurt was way out of his element. The "guy from Detroit" was at the party, or knew somebody who was there, and was getting a sick thrill over using Kurt's death to intimidate people. The fact that he disappeared around the time the body was found suggests that he wasn't a crazy drifter like the cops assumed, but rather, knew exactly what he was doing.

The general consensus at the time was that kids often ran off and got into trouble, and it wasn't worth the polices' time to do that much investigation. These days there is much more pressure on the cops to fully investigate these kinds of cases.

    I'd love to see the autopsy report. Was FULL toxicology done? Time of death is notoriously difficult to pin down. How competent was the coroner? This case is the focus of the 2020 Crime Con in Chicago. I hope they have all the info they need. I think Debbie (real name of the girl who had the party) is the key. with the murder of two priests there is some thought it was revenge for sexualk abuse the priests were involved in...In April of 2015, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Helena released the names of eighty former employees (mostly priests and nuns) who had allegedly sexually abused children in western Montana. One of the names released was Father Kerrigan. It was discovered that he had been moved between multiple churches throughout his thirty years of priesthood. Also, he had previously spent time at the Congregation of the Servants of the Paraclete in Jemez Springs, New Mexico. The facility was originally used to treat priests with drug and alcohol problems; however, it later took in priests accused of sexual abuse.
    Some have now theorized that his disappearance may be a case of vigilante justice. However, some investigators have claimed that the motive for his alleged murder was not related to sexual abuse.

The day it happened was a Saturday, and he'd have had plenty of time to arrange a meeting and get out of town and back in time for Mass that evening. Saturday Mass typically is not held before 4 p.m. local time.

    Police later found remains that were suspected of being Kerrigan's, but were later proven to be not. He remains missing and both cases remain a mystery. It is no longer believed that the cases are connected as Father Kerrigan was discovered to be on a list of priests allegedly involved in child molestation, although Kerrigan's guilt has not yet been confirmed. It is now believed that Kerrigan's murderer may have been a molestation victim or someone close to a victim, such as a blood relative. The motive for Father Rivera's murder has yet to be determined.
    However, there has been some speculation that Father Rivera's murder may be connected to another Unsolved Mysteries case, an unidentified man called William L. Toomey who committed suicide in a Boise, Idaho church in 1982. Toomey has allegedly been connected to the murder of another priest, Father Patrick Ryan, although another man, James Ramos, was convicted in that case. However, police have failed to find convincing evidence that Toomey or Ramos participated in Father Rivera's murder.

      Before Credit and debit cards, people used to carry a lot more cash. I remember in the 1970's my dad always had a few hundred dollars on him. The priest was new to town and probably had extra money on him to buy things for his new home to get settled in. Also, a lot of things cost more before we had unfair free trade with china, I remember microwaves costing 1,000 dollars , made in America.

    • @inkyguy
      @inkyguy 5 лет назад +9

      Amie, debit cards were widely used in 1984 and credit cards were extremely well established. They were not rare or uncommon at all. Carrying over $1,000 on your person wld be unusual for anyone when that was more money than many people made in a month at that time, but especially when your lodging and possibly even meals are already provided at a rectory and you supposedly live an intentionally austere life.

Yes Credit Cards were used back then but not by as many people and certainly my family did not use them and I had 10 Aunts and Uncles. Consumer Credit Card debt was no where like it is today. Cash was still mostly used in the 1970's and 80's.. I grew up on military bases and I remember the GI's cashing their whole paycheck and having all that cast to blow in their wallet. My dad was an E7 only and he made 1,600 after taxes. An example, Our first Microwave Cost us 1,000 dollars and my dad paid cash, So 1,000 is not so unusual for someone moving and possibly paying big bills, but it was a lot. I had a friend who married an American soldier during the war, who fathered her youngest child. He went back to the states, then she lost contact with him. For 20 years, she bugged me to help her find him. For 20 years, nothing but dead ends. The language barrier didn't help. Sometimes, we'd go a year or so without seeing one another, then take up where we left off. Finally, I FOUND HIM. I figured, "Vietnam vet, they have a lot of health issues...maybe?" So, I searched his name and "obituary", and sure enough...he'd passed 6 years earlier. I went to tell her, only to find out she'd gone home to Vietnam for a visit...and died there.
    The reason they lost contact? He was ALREADY married here, with kids! I've not contacted the family, I think it would do no good. The son is a scam artist, always trying to con people out of money. Gambling addict. On disability somehow, but makes a lot of money under the table, which all goes to gambling instead of his family.

      @Eye71Opener Stranger things have happened, but your theory is kind of farfetched. It would involve a lot of people and that makes it tougher to pull it off. I think the most logical is that they fed him too much alcohol at the party. They didn't know he wasn't a strong drinker and it went wrong. They hoped he would recover and let him be in the basement. But he didn't recover, he died. Also, still just a theory, but it was a party with alcohol and they lied there was a party at first and that Kurt had been there. Had it not been for the delivery guy they would have stuck to that story. At least Susan had to change her story.

Body by a little water, after a party, a party where they didn't know a lot of people, no cause of death, the area is searched and a the body is found in the same area later, something with the shoes. Later realized it was a lot like the case on the new season of Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix about Alonzo Brooks. So similar.

      Yes the Alonzo story made me think a Lot. First i was mad at his friends fro leaving him but the weird part of that story was that when they found him the letter in his wallet was not wet or ruined neither was his wallet. If he had been in the water it for days it would have been. Weird.

    When the one witness said he saw him walking on the side of the road the following Monday with another person he didn't recognize & said he pulled over to offer him a ride. But he then heard him yell "Franco" before crossing the road & hopping into a van with this other person. Why is no one bringing up who the hell this "Franco" driving the van is?

    So saddening what happened to Kurt and how his parents never saw their son alive again and there was no resolving in his death... He had a lovely smile.💔 I’m happy also for the father and son reunion, you can see the emotion in his eyes. Seeing his son after all of these years, Lord knows I miss my dad everyday especially lately. 😔

      That photo of Kurt used to scare the crap out of me (no disrespect to Kurt). Probably because something frightening happened to him. Must be a psychological thing why I found and still find his photo scary. But it is very sad that his parents never saw him again and never found out what happened. I'm real sorry to hear about your Dad bro', I lost mine four years ago and I think about him every day.

      Vinay Mulukutla Thank you so much I really appreciate that. Been feeling the grief here lately, and surely, the loss of a parent is something that never goes away truly and there is a empty void never filled... 😪🥀😔 Ya know? I’m very sorry to hear about the loss of your dad also, fours years certainly isn’t that long ago. My sincerest condolences to you Mine has been gone for over seventeen years, as of May 3rd and the moments that crush me the most Vinay, is that there are so many moments he won’t be around and hasn’t been to see witness or I can’t call him on the phone lean on his shoulder for guidance.😰 Those moments hurt the most... It certainly is a real tragedy of what happened to Kurt I can see how the pic can be frightening Unsolved Mysterious have had some of the most evil and sadistic cases of crime/murder, And with the music and photos shown of the victims let alone suspects especially the ones not caught and their creepy mugshots like “America’s Most Wanted” being pictured can indeed be scary along with sadly and tragically the victims... Sorry if my response is “lengthy.”

      @@michaeld.williamsiii9026 Hi Michael. Sorry for the late reply but I truly appreciate your words and your condolences. It still feels like yesterday when we got that call early in the morning that he wasn't doing well and spending the last few hours with him (although I went out to tell my sibling). I think it will always feel like yesterday for me. But I too am sorry that you lost your father seventeen years ago and indeed, that's the worst thing of it, not being able to talk to our fathers, call them on the phone or just sit in the same room with them whether it's for dinner, chilling in the living room or just having discussions. Also going to places that we enjoyed together can sometimes unleash grieving moments. I don't know what to say man. You get on with life and do what you have to do but it never leaves you. I feel sad that Kurt Sova died so young just simply going to a party full of strangers which was very unwise. I grew up watching Unsolved Mysteries and a lot of photos of victims and criminals are scary if not the case details. But it always kept me coming back for more. I hope life is kind to you and that everything is fine with you. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences and I wish you all the best. V.

    Unsolved. Both Kurt's parents are now deceased. Kurt's father Kenneth died in 2001 and his mother Dorothy died in 2014 without hearing any new info in the case. Two of his brothers have also since passed away. His third brother Kevin is still looking for answers.
    In November of 2019, it was announced that the Newburgh Heights Police Department was partnering with Tiffin University to take another look into Kurt's case. In February of 2020, Kurt's case was featured in the CrimeCon event "CrowdSolve". In this event, 100 participants worked together to examine the case and help solve it. It is not known if any new information was uncovered.

    What I want to know is on the first one the mystery behind Kurt Sova's death, why is there not any focus on the other boy, Eugene, who was found dead in the same manor in practically the same area a couple months later? isn't his death just as suspicious?

    I think Kurt died at the party after they tried sobering him up, alcohol poisoning. I think people moved his body once he died in the house. His friend didn’t act right after he went missing. Supplying minors alcohol at your house is illegal obviously. He was probably taken to the ravine once they saw he hadn’t gotten better. I doubt he walked there himself. Wasn't foul play but I feel there were still other people involved.
