Hey I've been watching your videos for a long time and I'm starting to get into the hobby myself just wondering what is the hang on device you use to do your water changes I've tried looking for it but can't find it haha Cheers mate
This is an awesome setup, and the Panda Garra are just fantasic fish. I picked up 5 Panda Garra about 1 inch each over the weekend. I have a 40g breeder setup as a river biotope. Originally it was going to look a lot like your Rainbow River setup, but quickly evolved to something completely my own. The Panda Garra are a fantastic fish for a high flow setup! They have basically turned my tank into Panda Garra Raceway and are constantly swimming laps against the current. Great fish, I can't wait for them to get to full size! And thanks for getting me back into aquariums after 10 years away. I went down a rabbit hole one night and started watching a bunch of your videos. That was about a two months ago, and now here I am with my first planted tank that is THRIVING!
7:40 i feed my panda and hillstream loaches and catfish with rocks from my turtle tank. I got rocks in there that grow full with all kinds of algae. And they clean that rock withing 30 minutes every time. I love this tank allready. Awesome !
That's a really great idea. I think I'll just put a rock into a bowl full of water and let the algae grow. Then put it in the tank to feed the otocinclos. Will it work?
MD life has gotten busy and I can't leave my 10-page comments anymore but I always want you to know I'm watching loving and liking everything you do!!! This is a very special Channel, what makes it even better is your family and the support we all give you!; It's an incredible Community for sure!; Just in case you don't see me around so much I'm always watching, I always leave my likes!! You have been an absolute inspiration to me! I also enjoy your positivity and everything you teach us keeping it real and that means a lot! Love you, the family, the doodles 😂 aquascaping and everything you share with us! 🙏💚♥️💪🌿🐟🌿
I haven’t had a fish tank in years. It’s cool to watch other people have them and do aquascaping. That way I don’t have to do any of the work but can still enjoy it, lol. Maybe one day I’ll have to get a tank of my own.
Just go get one. A nano tank, easy scape, mini filter... or not, after a while have a simple beginner fish in there like a betta, then you have a place to unwind and watch MD after a hard day's work. Before you know it, you'll be shopping for a new racking system to cater the 8 tanks you suddenly have in your living room. Gonna hit you like a train 😊
Hillstreams are one of my favorite fish of all... and I really enjoyed this approaching natural environment aquarium (fast flowing river)... probably one of my favorites of all your aquariums. Nicely done!
I have very similar if not the same hillstream loaches, they change to a few shades. I think it has to do with their social heirarchy because it especially comes out when they first enter a tank. Out of all my 3 species of hillstream loaches, the gastromyzon scitulus are the most outgoing as well. Also, they can definitely withstand lower temps than 20C. I've kept them in unheated tanks where the temp gets down to at least 16C for an entire season. Danio tinwini would be great, but don't forget that they are jumpers!
aye ur a dope ass human bruh, keep doing wat u love. dont know if aquascaping ur passion, u might naturally lose interest, nothing wrong with that, u alredy got a youtube platform u can shape it to watver u want for us, grow with you, or just keep watching u do yo thang with the fish. everything u do with them, for them... badass
Nice tank, love it! Also liked your background info on the area where the fish came from, what they eat, etc. Educational! Is that a word, it is isn't it ;-)
Recently I’ve been researching how to enrich my fish and make them happy and less bored and apparently changing things around and adding new things and taking things away is actually enriching because it makes them actively use their brains. It makes them smarter and healthier too! They like having new things to look at. There hasn’t been much research on the mental health of fish unfortunately but... I believe that changing your tanks around is actually beneficial to the fish based on the small amount of research I’ve found. Even feeding them in different spots in the tank and at inconsistent times so that they have to hunt for the food is beneficial for them.
And I was afraid because I change my tank like every 15 days haha not completely but..... Thank you for this. I agree with that. When you change something they immediately start exploring it
Ahhh MD! One of my fav videos to Date. Beautiful tank! Those hills stream loaches are so cool. Def on the list. I recently got some Sumo loaches. They’d look good too in that first tank too. Great video today!
I remember researching Hillstream Loach years ago and your set up will suit them perfectly as you will know! If they arent in fast flowing water they will slowly suffocate and not live as long as they could. The faster the flow the better (within reason obviously!)
They breed fine with very low flow, high temperatures. In my experience they appreciate those rock surfaces a lot and show more of what seems natural low level aggressive territorial behavior with those present, but with good water quality, good food including protein they do well enough to breed with parameters well outside of what the internet considers the only correct way...
Time 1:30 in this video, you showed the tank the fish were in, & during the close up (at 1:30 time stamp) I thought I saw green hydra on your front glass. Not 100% sure, but it did look like it.
Ive got two really interesting tank ideas for you: Julidochromis transcriptus is a beautiful cichlid that stays small and dwells in caves and theyre super cool. I know you did a cave tank before, but it could be a really interesting tank. Neolamprologus multifasciatus is a fish that lives in shells--a really need shell-dwelling aquascape could be super, super cool!
Love the river tank. I really like the combination of Hillstream Loachs & Panda Garras. I think a couple Saddleback Hillstream Loaches would look great in that tank.
Really informative md and so lovely to see the fish so much, many bloggers forget to show the tanks just small snippets. So loving your channel you are awesome 😘 xxx
I love how you try out different species of fish like the panda garra which is a much rarer fish than goldfish, neon tetras, and guppies. The panda garras are really nice. I have a few of them and they are so energetic and unique!
Loving the hillstream tank, have the borneo suckers gotten their colour now after settling in? I see you noticed the pale ones when you first put them in, they go pale when they feel threatened which how you can tell if 2 are fighting or mating. When they settle down and colour up their fins get a lovely electric blue shimmer to them!
Great idea to establish a circular flow with the stone island. The tank looks nice here and now, but I wouldn't go for vallisneria for such small tanks as they grow too much long term. Same with moss, requires cut-back regularily. Bucephalandra and anubias work fine though in a river tank.
Awesome tanks MD... question about your filter inlets and outlets. I'm thinking of getting the stainless ones like the ones you have, but am worried about them rusting. Have you had any issues with any of them? I'm using the glass lily pipes now but wouldn't mind trying something different.
Some glass catfish (kryptopterus bicirrhis) would look cool in this hillstream aquarium. Love the panda gara! Had those myself a few years ago and want some again but in the Netherlands (I'm dutch) they are quite hard to find and very expensive! Went to my local aquarium shop last weekend and they had panda loaches (Yaoshania pachychilus), very cool little fish too! Would love to see a scape with those.
I have been using Bacter AE (shrimp food) for my ottos and I think it has helped them staying healthy. It feeds the biofilm in the tank for the ottos to eat. That may be good for your tank as well!
Ive bulid a 1,20 shallow one for my hillstream loaches, I think they really enjoy length. I love them so much they might be my fav with the kuli loaches! I really peep your look:)
I don't remember seeing you doing the light fixtures on this one, and that trick with the shelves is amazing. You could do a video just about that. Cheers mate.
If you want to feed them : just go for repashy soilent green, you can prepare it and put this on a rock for exemple, it will stick to the rock and they can feed on it easly and in a natural way, they are going to live it ! And repashy is such a good food !
Just a heads up for the Panda Garras, they'll eat basically anything. They'll eat sinking bug bite pellets, shrimp pellets, bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp, and veggies. I've even caught them abducting a shrimp before. Hope you enjoy them as much as i enjoy mine! They might start following you around the tank or sucking on your hands or arms in the tank :)
Another great tank and choice of fish! How are the hillstream loaches getting on? Any escape artists? I have an empty tank ear marked for some myself but kept away as its open top with no lid like yours and everything I read says they will escape :/
Hey @MD, it's been a year. I wonder did you ever have any Hillstream Loaches climb out of the tank? I'd like to get some but my hardscape comes out of the tank & a lid is tricky...

My favourite tank so far! happy lil guys
I love the little beggars and your choices in music, always puts me in an MD fish mood...if that's a thing...
This is actually very intriguing because the movement of the fish is so different
Nice tank, love it! Also liked your background info on the area where the fish came from, what they eat, etc. Educational! Is that a word, it is isn't it ;-)
Mate, your pebble scape is awsome! It has such nice height and really looks like a slice of a river bed. Love it

Amazing video MD !!! As a future project, why don't you do a Goby or Mudskipper tank ?¿
So natural! And the rock, spotless instantly- wild. Love the look as well as how fantastic it is to capture the beauty of the habitat. So good!
That black water tank is awesome. It’s like snapshot of nature that we would normally not get to see!!!
I got excited when he mentioned something about traveling. I want to see MD videos while traveling the world!

"very rare to see them on their own, and if you do they are looking for their friends"

I don't know why but I have been soo into this mini series
And I guess I would like to see a Black emperor tetra setup
For some reason this is my favorite tank of yours so far. I don't know what it is but I absolutely love it
I really do love this water flow idea, nice work.
Danios are my allll time favourite fish. Would be great to see some in your tank! Lovely aquascape.
My favourite aquarium! Beautifully done.
This one is my favourite so far. What size circulation pump did you use to get the flow
Excellent setup. Love the fish. Fantastic 👍
Love this, the fish seems really happy! ❤
Best aquarium content on RUclips! Keep it up!
This turned out so amazing! I defenitely need to get myself something similar
I have been using Bacter AE (shrimp food) for my ottos and I think it has helped them staying healthy. It feeds the biofilm in the tank for the ottos to eat. That may be good for your tank as well!
One off your best so far👍
That turned out beautiful!! I was thinking White Cloud Mountain Minnows would look good in there the first time I saw the theme.
My favorite build of your so far, watching this from start to end. Great work! Why I love the hobby
Beautiful stocking selections!! 😍
Could you use something like Bacter AE or Bio-Tase that are for boosting biofilm for shrimp?
Beautiful video! I think that a little swarm of White Clouds would be very apropriate, since these fish also do love water movement!
lol last time i heard you werent enjoying terrarium style ish and now youve changed xD Brilliant video like always :D
Awesome work. I just feel a bit worry that the tank sides have not been placed on the table, is it safe?
I wanna set up a rimless 10gal walstad, any tips ??
Your fish will never be bored.😊
Man your vids are always interesting! Keep it up 👍
Favourite tank so far , love the big stones 😀
Yes I love realistic scapes!
Ive bulid a 1,20 shallow one for my hillstream loaches, I think they really enjoy length. I love them so much they might be my fav with the kuli loaches! I really peep your look:)
Nice scape. My new favorite aqua channel
May I ask what sand u use and how do u get the wood in ur tanks to sink thanks 😋🙂
I don't remember seeing you doing the light fixtures on this one, and that trick with the shelves is amazing. You could do a video just about that. Cheers mate.
Man would love to see a apistogramma set up with some ditter fish
I'd love to see what you'd come up with this type of tank in your new studio!
Oh yess loving the progress of all your tanks
Wow I just found out about this fish and this video made me fall in love with them 😩 I’m definitely getting some for my big thank 🤌
I get so excited every video you release!
A good nano fish for your nano tanks is the bumble bee goby!
Hi, was wondering if you could do a video on how you feed the panda gara?
How do you make sure the hillstream loaches don’t jump out?
How much space is between the lamp and wall? does it matter if the light is slightly not in the center?
just quick question What do you feed your oto’s because I have algae wafers but they make my tank so Mercky and I was hoping you could help thanks
Man, I would love to see some stiphodon species in this tank as well! They fit perfectly in your setup! Consider it as a future option!!! Nice job
This aquarium looks so amazing!!!! I LOVE IT 😊😀😃😄😁😆
Another great tank and choice of fish! How are the hillstream loaches getting on? Any escape artists? I have an empty tank ear marked for some myself but kept away as its open top with no lid like yours and everything I read says they will escape :/
Garra are extremely adaptable. Mine are in with discus, super bright colored, wrestling all the time.
Hey @MD, it's been a year. I wonder did you ever have any Hillstream Loaches climb out of the tank? I'd like to get some but my hardscape comes out of the tank & a lid is tricky...
Celestial pearl danio will look great in this tank!
