As a manager for the team from 1977 through 1979, i do not remember missing any practice days on the field in Memorial Stadium because of rain or snow. I do remember many a cold dark afternoon assisting Coach Novak. Very happy that the new athletes have such a nice facility in which to spend their time as an Illini.
I think I have seen all of the college football facilities that this channel has done. From top to bottom this has been been my favorite one. The players lounge was sweet and I love the brick weight room.
Hope y'all can do K-State one day or MIZZOU. This may seem like a weird request but in a future episode, can you cover a NASCAR team. A lot of the crew members on the teams are former college athletes.
You know, for the folks complaining about facilities for athletes, mainly football. For a lot of schools, football pays for all the other sports including women's sports. TV dollars bring in money for the programs AND for the school (library upgrades, money for general scholarship funds, etc). More exposure brings donors for not just sports programs but other facilities. Honestly dont get the hate. Great looking facility 👍
In 2023, UIUC athletics had a total expenditure of $152 million. Their total revenue from all sources was $148.3 million. With very few exceptions, it is a myth that football or basketball brings in all of this money for the university as a whole. If you are lucky, they pay off the other sports. If not, the entire athletic program is taking more than they bring in. To Illinois' credit, they are roughly on par for bringing in what they cost. This facility was largely privately funded, which is great, but it does not erase the "this could have gone to academic uses" complaints. I won't hate - I just don't buy the defense all that much.
Man that resembled UGA in a lot of ways the. I was so disappointed by that weight room. Half racks?! Cmon Illinois. Who cares about the bowling alley and mini golf course, you wanna get your boys BIG and better.
Someone needs to tell these guys that the "student-athlete" title cease to exist decades ago. The "student" part was left by the wayside. And now with the transfer portal and NIL, never again will "student" be part of the equation.
This damn school better start winning championships in both basketball and football to justify the cost of these facilities. It's absurd that IL being the premier collegiate sports institution in the state doesn't have multiple national championships in both basketball and football given its proximity to the Chicagoland area with all the great athletes coming out of that area. No more losing our best athletes to out of state schools. Capiche?
No wonder tuitions are high Af does the football team really need this really? 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ it’s all BS money should be spent on facilities that will change and put more progress towards the world not on an escape.
Here’s another Big 10 facility tour -> ruclips.net/video/VZwzvAYc2cs/видео.html
Do Nebraska when it’s done

This channel is extremely well done. Very nice job! Been following you for years and I'm always impressed by your content and production values!
Agreed!

My favorite is Auburn but this one really impressed me. I guess blue and orange is the way to go 😅
As a university of Illinois fan I’m happy to see them be on here

Illinois University has better facilities than the Chicago Bears 😂😂😂
a lot of major colleges have better facilities than NFL teams honestly...
Most the money can go towards facilities, whereas NFL all the money goes to the players.
This is awesome!! My alma mater is killing it! I-L-L!!
I-N-I
Great facility..... can't wait for you to do nebraska new football facilities

Illinois football has better facilities than the professional team in D.C.
They have better facilities than most nfl teams
It's for recruiting
Dont forget, they have a former player who is one of a few who was a player, a coach and an owner. PAPA HALAS!!
Beautiful facility! Hope you will come to Auburn soo and see our brand new $93,000,000 facility!

3:25 a humidifier would add moisture but I get what you mean and that’s sick 👍
I think he meant to say dehumidifier bc a humidifier would be horrible to have in there
NGL Illinois has produced some beasts on defense these last couple drafts especially devon witherspoon
POWER 5 HIT DIFFERENT........
GEORGE VIBE WAS 😢 AT COLORADO STATE
Indiana University basketball facility next! Assembly Hall is one of the best stadiums in America, and their facilities are top notch

Illini will take step forward this fall have a friend on staff there big things coming for UI
Very cool facility
can you do a video on Michigan? Penn State? UCLA?
they did michigan a while ago
You'd think they might field a decent team at some point.. with facilities like this recruiting shouldn't be difficult
I know Virginia isn’t great at football but y’all gotta get out there when their new facility is done this spring
I Think Illinois Should Change the Team Name From Illini' to the "Immortals".
Hope y'all can do K-State one day or MIZZOU. This may seem like a weird request but in a future episode, can you cover a NASCAR team. A lot of the crew members on the teams are former college athletes.
Visit Michigan states new facility next
ILLINOIS ON TOP!
Man, yall gotta go to Purdue

Yeah, this is a drop in the bucket for what the program brings in. Plus is private donors. School didnt pay for it.

ILL!
Could’ve took care of all Illinois problems whatever they got going on but f it. +C football team needs.
All this to go 5-7
Facts!😂
all that to go 6-6

Do Illinois basketball now
Nice facility. I now see where my tuition went...and only athletes can use it.
The way it should be yes!
Your tuition didn't go there. Privately funded.
all this to go 3-9
Bud is not funny
80 million dollars on illini football, is mad funny
@@carsonnations1497 how else will they get better recruits
@@goatedits23 By winning football games
@@carsonnations1497 nah

I was the bowel game when they played Mississippi State good crazy game 😂😂
The one where half our defense opted out of due to draft status.
@@dennisgriffin6742 they did get drafted tho should play lol
Go to Auburn
Tell me about what y’all are doing for recovery and getting better? “Well if you look at this movie theater right here.”💀
🙏
Syracuse!
this is what your tuition goes to😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You’re clueless. Private donors. Hence the name of the facility.
They don’t even win and they drop 80m?
they're in the big 10. each school gets about $90M/year as part of their TV contract
@@kmir224 Makes sense why USC and UCLA left he PAC 12
The Illinois Fighting Illini football have better facilities then the Chicago Bears
Marquette next
Lower tuition 😭😭😭
That's a lot of money spent to continue to pay like garbage! The area around the campus looks like garbage!
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
No hate but why they make these upgrades to never win ….. what’s their best sport ?
To recruit better, to get more wins. More wins means more fans, more fans…more money. So an investment.
Someone needs to tell these guys that the "student-athlete" title cease to exist decades ago. The "student" part was left by the wayside. And now with the transfer portal and NIL, never again will "student" be part of the equation.
All of that just to lose to Nebraska
Where is Bielema’s private kitchen?
I hear they are just finishing it up is the $100M facility there building
I'm pretty sure my father worked on this.
👍
Hope they name the medical area after Dr. Soboroff.
If this is real bro spent 1 million dollars and a ton of time to create a hexagon cup that looks worse that the circle cups😂😂

All that money so they can still lose to a terrible team like Purdue
Nice...to bad they suck as a football program!
Nice but still lost to Penn State.
All that money for no wins.
All that mouth and no head game.
Soooo many haters in these comments. 😅😅😅
and we wonder why kids today have an entitlement attitude
All that money just for them to always suck
Too much for such a short time
$80M set on fire
$80 Mil on a losing team....Money well spent Illinois
How else will they boost performance
Knew a comment like this was here without looking.
You couldn’t make the team even if you gave it a try.
I mean look at northwestern with their new stadium being built, They're a terrible team yet. They're building a new stadium.
First world issues, lol.

Brand new facility FOR WHAT 😂😂 they not good in Sports 😂
I’m saying they suck🤣
Fighting Illini is probably the worst name I’ve ever heard
Waste of taxpayer $$$
You still think tax payers pay for this? This is booster and TV money
@@HeyThatWeirdGuy I sincerely hope so.
so all of the other students have to pay for a facility that they'll never use?
And they suck😂
And they still suck lmao
So will your mom
Waste of money. Use it for engineering dept and sciences
