For those wondering, this is the 1983 version directed by Daniel Barenboim.
    Tristan : René Kollo
    Isolde : Johanna Meier
    Brangäne : Hanna Schwarz
    Kurwenal : Hermann Becht
    Marke : Matti Salminen
(and I must say that Matti Salminen really sounds amazing in this version !)

I huge to have stand-up fights with my music teacher at school over Tristan. He was never a Wagner lover anyway, but his regular comment was "Four and a half bloody hours to resolve one chord. He could have done it in two bars and saved us all an evening."

00:00 : So dark, so profound. Absolutely mesmerizing and terrible.
54:00 : Tristan, finding peace, at last, hearing Isolde for the last time ; What a cinematographic scene and peaceful moment of music !

My Al time favourite opera that every time reduces me to a blubbering mess at the magnificently moving brilliant end. Great production. Thank you for sharing.

thank you so much! subtitles much appreciated; Renee Kolo's Tristan is amazing; the stamina and voice required for this is truly almost superhuman and Kolo does it so well

This made me fall in love with Salminen's voice and singing. I don't like it in Italian repertoire, but what a voice for Wagner !
Listen 1:05:32, until the end. So beautiful.

My prof is making us watch the ending ballad for class (1:10:28), and he's keeping it real. For example, an excerpt of my assignment is; "Motive b is now literally everywhere. It's in the treble orchestra, the bass orchestra, and Isolde herself, and life is good for awhile. But she gotta die, so halfway through m. 38 the tension amps back up."

Musique sublime !!!!

    Ah!, Isolde, Isolde
    ¡Qué hermosa eres! 45:00
