  • Northward Nourish: Framing Sustainable Food Systems Transitions in Canada’s Remote North
Sage Brown is a fourth year undergraduate student from the Yukon Territory completing a BA in Anthropology with a minor in the Biological Sciences. Her interdisciplinary interests include environmental policy, landscape ecology, and the response of northern ecosystems to climate change.
Initially inspired through exposure to discourse on seasonal eating while working in the United Kingdom, Sage began to conceptualize a framework that promotes food sovereignty and encourages environmentally-conscious dietary practices across northern communities. Her project, “Northward Nourish: Framing Sustainable Food Systems Transitions in Canada’s Remote North” provides a northern-adapted framework for sustainable food systems.
