In NE AZ 4 yrs ago, I built a 30X30 10 foot ceiling 9" 4" 10 foot wide door garage. Inside the garage I had a seperate room 12X12 office. The garage was completely finished, insullated, electrical in the office too. Office was tongue and groove walls ceiling through out and the garage area was 3/8 plywood walls. Saved a lot of money with no drywall. I sanded polyed the office and I caulked painted the inside and out side. Because of the snow the contractor used 4 rows of cinder blocks around the foundation filled with 3000 PSI concrete. 2 block rows below ground 2 above for snow protection and to keep the sill plate from rotting because of snow. There was 1/2 rebar in the floor and the drive way to the garage. The concrete floor was 3000 psi concrete also. Included 2 windows and the garage door my choice of color and 2 doors for the office. One outside and one to the garage. Office with window AC and additional window to the garage area from the office. Cost $57,700. Including labor.

I like your thinking. My trucks had driver comfort, good seats, good air and couple of other things to keep myself and drivers on the road. Trucks were there to make money. We kept them clean which is a chore in the oil patch. As usual you put family first. Good man stay safe and as always havagudun trucker.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Oh, Boy! Yeah, I was hoping that you were gonna say that it was gonna be big enough. As the old saying goes…Dream BIG & build BIG. At least it sounds good, until you figure out that it’s gonna take too much out of the wallet. And don’t forget the trips jar. I can relate to the senior kid questions. We always like the truck & train action. Your trains are going to change a bit in the future….colors, style, etc. I grew up having a BIG garage…big enough for more than 10 rigs & trailers. I can surely say that I miss that big garage immensely! Hope that you can build it some day, if that’s what you desire. Nothing wrong with placing a work truck in the garage when you’re home. It can make a big difference on several of your cars. I still hope to build onto my garage so that I can park my big trucks in. Eventually! Blessings my friend. 🤩🥰✌️

Almost $100K? Wow, I don't blame you for not going that route. I think the vacation is the better choice. Add-on later? Why not. It wouldn't be pampering necessarily, would it? It would be to extend the life, help keep maintenance costs down a bit maybe. To maintain its service as a 'work-horse'.

100k for a garage? Wow that's insane. In 2021 I spent 22k for a 20x35x14 for my semi with post frame build. Did wiring and insulation myself which may have been another 1,500. Post frames in my opinion is stronger and last longer than stick built

I've learned that a garage is never big enough and a machine shed is filled to capacity before the first wall goes up. Getting the permits probably took longer than the construction. That will be a nice improvement for you. You can always use that space someday to restore certain old vehicles with Troy. Stay safe, and God bless.

You could be a flatbed driver the way you were able to handle the straps for the power trowels. Glad to see you track side watching trains for us and yes the engineer probably thought you were being a train dork. As far as the garage is concerned... its your property and your money. Do what you want and the heck with what the Internet thinks. Although if you can swing it, have the floor epoxied with a little bit of texture mixed in. On those cold winter days when the snow that has melted off of the cars and refreezes on the floor that liitle bit of texture may be just enough that someone doesn't slip, fall, and twist something. Speaking from experience on this one.
