Thanks, Kirk. Very useful to see your choice of control setting and view the behaviour of the blanket in the machine. Appreciated your commentary at the beginning, and was hoping to hear further comments at the end. Am still inclined to stay with the basic traditional agitator.
Just got this washer. Looks good. All these brand new washers use much less water which just throws me off. I guess that's just the way these machines work now. Glad to see there's a setting for more water.
Same here... After us having our Whirlpool for 20 years and Switching over to the new ones we was lost of how to get the water over the clothes 🤦🏽♀️ we are glad to see it’s a way. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I just used my new Whirlpool model 4855HW to wash a queen size comforter. It washed it well, & spun out well. The load did not get unbalanced, but there was a lot of vibration. It made me nervous, so I stayed close by during the spin. Even though it did a great job, I probably won't try my big bulky comforter again, since I worry that it could put a strain on my washer. It did work, but maybe I should use the big washer at the laundromat, & save my washer for my everyday laundry.
Just wondering why these machines don't fill to the right amount water from the beginning.. They take too long sensing and filling and not washing.. These machines are made for small loads only... Thanks for posting this video
Shortly after I posted this, my daughter-in-laws\'s washer locked up and was out of warranty. She then purchased a Samsung impeller top load washer and has had no problems.
It does look like it's cleaning super effectively. But a traditional agitator washer would require less water in this specific situation and still get the job done.
Agitators use a lot more water. I like agitators better but I just bought this washer...not even delivered yet. I got it because it uses less water and doesn't pound the crap out of my clothes. And unless you really get dirty, which most people dont, then this is a pretty good washer.
I just bought this washer off FB marketplace. It still had the plastic on it and the lady said she just wanted a matching set. Brought it home and washed my first load, not a big load btw. It didnt sound right and when the cycle ended, I opened it to find the top half of my clothes dry. I tripped the switch with the lid open and restarted the cycle. I chose the deep water cycle and it still did not cover my clothes, a medium load at best. The middle agitator does NOT move. The drum turns around the clothes, but the water and clothes stay still! Whats the problem?
I’ve had a whirlpool cabrio for 6 years and I’ve hated every minute of it. Goes off balance every single time I try to wash a blanket. The blanket is so heavy when soaked with water it takes all my strength to pick it up enough to redistribute it. Having to wash a blanket in this machine is so unpleasant its like facing a dentist appointment! Then when i get it redistributed and manage to turn it off (bc it beeps at me 20 times in protest before powering off) I will set it to drain and spin and it starts dumping water back in and the blanket is out of whack again. Ask me if I would ever buy one of these #$&*# washers again..... ps watching a blanket through the whole cycle? Really dude?
Most brands use the Bulky cycle to fill with the most amount of water for this reason. Because of the load size they will often cut the final spin speed down too.
I hate this washing machine.i cant wait for it to break. I have washed the same blanket 3 times today all along the machine is taking a walk while spinning.
You'd better have some good detergent like the highly concentrated SA8 laundry care products, because after nearly 19 mins or so just to fill with adequate water, the bulky cycle is just like the gentle or soak cycle on many machines. Surprisingly low agitation for a cycle for bedding and large bulky items. Still I can't imagine spending an hour on one load.
I think this machine did a decent job with this large item. It certainly did fill with water. Kirk, can you get this line of Whirlpool washers with a glass lid?
Hey , I didn't see you add detergent to this wash lol . I hope I didn't make a huge mistake getting one of these machines . I'ma be pissed if it don't clean my comforters .
Read the description. He found out that the water level he chose was incorrect. It can't be set on deep water mode as he had done here. He said he needed to select "bulky items" on the dial.
Thank you very much, I appreciate your comments from abroad. Eventually, we will all have the same design of washer, I just wonder how long it will be. One World Washer :)
The Frigidaire had better turnover than this, it was more aggressive. These whirlpools just swoosh the clothes back and forth. How could they clean anything, it's just like a long soak with movement. I will definitely keep my Speed Queen until I kick off, I'm sure it will out live me.
I agree. I was watching an old 1978 Maytag in action. Lots of agitation not only moved the water but move the clothes far more through the water. To me that is the key of good cleaning and rinsing.
I had that era Maytag best washers around. Sorry I got rid it then (was still working) for a direct drive GE in basement. The Speed Queen is very similar to the Maytag.
I will need a new washer very soon. Speed Queen is on the top of my list. Some say there are new Federal water regulations going into effect for clothes washer and dish washers for 2018. I have no idea why this needs to be regulated? People are already complaining about the fact that the machines do not use enough water to do the job effectively. I probably will get my new machine in October before they sell out and the new models come out using less water.
I don't know how they could let them use even less water than what they using now. the newer dishwashers run forever to clean the dishes my vintage KitchenAid use to wash dishes in 35 minutes spotless. Not 97 mins. like my GE. You will probably have to wash dishes overnight and use a bucket next to your washing machine to pour water in it!
I agree. You hear of people who buy these new fancy HE machines and they end up dumping buckets of water in them mid cycle or have a garden hose attached to the water line next to the machine so they can add more water to get the clothes clean. Crazy.
So on my Whirlpool HE was her #WD5000D has no fabric softener dispenser...it has an option to ‘1 rinse with softener’ when I use that setting it’s locked when it goes to rinse! I can’t add the softener! How DO you add softener?
This is my frustration. I thought this setting would buzz to alert me to come add the softener or pause for me to do it. I stood there waiting to add the fabric softener and the lid was locked. I unplugged the washer, lid unlocked, I added the softener and plugged it back in and it started back up after a few moments. What a crock. Should have an automatic dispenser.
You have to push the start/pause button as soon as the 1st or 2nd rinse cycle starts. Once you've added the softener close lid and push the button again.
The owners manual says let it fill with water on rinse cycle. Press start/pause button. Lid unlocks. Add your softener. Close lid. Press start. It continues.
Question: I have this washer. How do you get it to work like this with door open? Mine stops every time I open the lid, like to add a piece....also, I am getting a repair because the WARM setting doesn't mix in hot warm, comes out ice cold. I guess I am stuck with this until it breaks completely.
The Deep Water Wash is kind of like a "half fill" cycle LOL. I used it a lot when I had my Kenmore 28102. It did well with larger loads, but didn't fill completely to the top. Unfortunately that machine didn't have a "Bulky" cycle, so that was as much water as I could use.
I'm not supposed to explain the procedure because I'm a factory servicer and dealer. I really apologize about that. Take care Jason, thanks again for your comment.
don't wash bulky items in an older LG waveforce washers because the bulky items get really heavy when wet and so they can cause the machine's suspension rod holders to break and destroy the machine
Thanks for the heads up! I agree, in any machine really bulky items should be taken to the cleaners or laundry mat if you wash them regularly, once in a while should be ok.
This washer washes so lazy and slow. I don't care for gentle washing. I prefer the old fashion rough agitation washing machines. I really do not care about the new model water savers. Less water means dividing your clothes into more loads, and more time washing.
My washer is not using a lot of water in a deep water wash cycle which is frustrating, called the technician and he said its normal. If I want more water, I have to keep opening and closing the lid. Otherwise it will wash with clothes and no water.
What a waste of water, This machine takes too long to fill up. Too much sensing as well . Rollover was fair.. You would be better off buying a frontloader
I've watched like all of your videos, I just got this washer, the person I bought it from lost the owner's manual, I need to know when and how to add laundry detergent and fabric softener please
Whose great idea was this I'd rather watch a sloth than watch any more of this disgusting washing machine giving whirlpool a bad result and no good comment on this
Soap first, then clothes. Add bleach to the dispenser located on the top corner near the tub opening. Ad softener to dispenser if desired. The softener dispenser is located on the top of the agitator.
@@kirkrivas8172 Kirtk thanks for the testing, wish you had done it with soap. Agreed, jeez man, my '73 whirlpool wouldve completed the whole load in the time it takes the new whirlpool to fill.
Hi, how do you keep the lid open during the soak cycle ? Doesn't the washer LOCK the lid ? Thanks :) So do you recommend this HE Model ?
Thanks for reviewing, my daughter in law has this machine and has been working well for over 2 yrs.
looking to buy one today should I get it ???? thank you

Wow...Thanks to your video, I am not buying this washer and getting one with an agitator instead.
Queen Beez lg is a good brand. When the new lg wt7305c comes out, check that one out.
I have to stand over the washer when doing a blanket queen size quilted blanket because sometimes it starts to Rick and move in the wring cycle

I wouldn't even expect this washer to wash a comforter 😭😭😭 this is a great washer for a home! Not a laundromat! 🤷🏾♂️
Can we see a wash demonstration? This soak cycle is cool and all. So how about an actual wash cycle?

Rinse with fabric softener is code for "deep rinse".
