    Thanks, Kirk. Very useful to see your choice of control setting and view the behaviour of the blanket in the machine. Appreciated your commentary at the beginning, and was hoping to hear further comments at the end. Am still inclined to stay with the basic traditional agitator.

    Just got this washer. Looks good. All these brand new washers use much less water which just throws me off. I guess that's just the way these machines work now. Glad to see there's a setting for more water.

    I just used my new Whirlpool model 4855HW to wash a queen size comforter. It washed it well, & spun out well. The load did not get unbalanced, but there was a lot of vibration. It made me nervous, so I stayed close by during the spin. Even though it did a great job, I probably won't try my big bulky comforter again, since I worry that it could put a strain on my washer. It did work, but maybe I should use the big washer at the laundromat, & save my washer for my everyday laundry.

    Just wondering why these machines don't fill to the right amount water from the beginning.. They take too long sensing and filling and not washing.. These machines are made for small loads only... Thanks for posting this video

    It does look like it's cleaning super effectively. But a traditional agitator washer would require less water in this specific situation and still get the job done.

      Agitators use a lot more water. I like agitators better but I just bought this washer...not even delivered yet. I got it because it uses less water and doesn't pound the crap out of my clothes. And unless you really get dirty, which most people dont, then this is a pretty good washer.

    I just bought this washer off FB marketplace. It still had the plastic on it and the lady said she just wanted a matching set. Brought it home and washed my first load, not a big load btw. It didnt sound right and when the cycle ended, I opened it to find the top half of my clothes dry. I tripped the switch with the lid open and restarted the cycle. I chose the deep water cycle and it still did not cover my clothes, a medium load at best. The middle agitator does NOT move. The drum turns around the clothes, but the water and clothes stay still! Whats the problem?

    I’ve had a whirlpool cabrio for 6 years and I’ve hated every minute of it. Goes off balance every single time I try to wash a blanket. The blanket is so heavy when soaked with water it takes all my strength to pick it up enough to redistribute it. Having to wash a blanket in this machine is so unpleasant its like facing a dentist appointment! Then when i get it redistributed and manage to turn it off (bc it beeps at me 20 times in protest before powering off) I will set it to drain and spin and it starts dumping water back in and the blanket is out of whack again. Ask me if I would ever buy one of these #$&*# washers again..... ps watching a blanket through the whole cycle? Really dude?

    • @kirkrivas8172
      @kirkrivas8172  7 лет назад +3

      Most brands use the Bulky cycle to fill with the most amount of water for this reason. Because of the load size they will often cut the final spin speed down too.

  • @dmnds979
    @dmnds979 7 лет назад +4

    You'd better have some good detergent like the highly concentrated SA8 laundry care products, because after nearly 19 mins or so just to fill with adequate water, the bulky cycle is just like the gentle or soak cycle on many machines. Surprisingly low agitation for a cycle for bedding and large bulky items. Still I can't imagine spending an hour on one load.

    The Frigidaire had better turnover than this, it was more aggressive. These whirlpools just swoosh the clothes back and forth. How could they clean anything, it's just like a long soak with movement. I will definitely keep my Speed Queen until I kick off, I'm sure it will out live me.

    • @garykarczewski6678
      @garykarczewski6678 7 лет назад +5

      I agree. I was watching an old 1978 Maytag in action. Lots of agitation not only moved the water but move the clothes far more through the water. To me that is the key of good cleaning and rinsing.

    • @petermaz701
      @petermaz701 7 лет назад +2

      I had that era Maytag best washers around. Sorry I got rid it then (was still working) for a direct drive GE in basement. The Speed Queen is very similar to the Maytag.

    • @garykarczewski6678
      @garykarczewski6678 7 лет назад +4

      I will need a new washer very soon. Speed Queen is on the top of my list. Some say there are new Federal water regulations going into effect for clothes washer and dish washers for 2018. I have no idea why this needs to be regulated? People are already complaining about the fact that the machines do not use enough water to do the job effectively. I probably will get my new machine in October before they sell out and the new models come out using less water.

    • @petermaz701
      @petermaz701 7 лет назад +2

      I don't know how they could let them use even less water than what they using now. the newer dishwashers run forever to clean the dishes my vintage KitchenAid use to wash dishes in 35 minutes spotless. Not 97 mins. like my GE. You will probably have to wash dishes overnight and use a bucket next to your washing machine to pour water in it!

    • @garykarczewski6678
      @garykarczewski6678 7 лет назад +1

      I agree. You hear of people who buy these new fancy HE machines and they end up dumping buckets of water in them mid cycle or have a garden hose attached to the water line next to the machine so they can add more water to get the clothes clean. Crazy.
