“Stop wasting her time” about scarlet is EXACTLY what I’ve always thought. Like girl she brings so much, even when she makes jokes on the MainStage or talks to the judges it always feels like the audience sees her and appreciates what she brings, but Ru and Michelle particularly just don’t vibe with her and you can tell SO CLEARLY, like the facial expressions of Ru towards her always catch me so off guard because you can tell she just isn’t feeling it but I never know why
I feel this. Sure, we can maybe excuse her treatment on S11 and say she was kinda crunchy then, but the moment they completely overlooked her bubble burlesque number on AS6 was when I knew they would never give her the time of day
it was mentioned somewhere that since she was rumored to be Pearl's daughter Ru was never gonna warm up to her. But Pearl clarified she really wasn't her daughter
Especially the roast, I might be delusional but her jokes were really funny and it almost felt like Ru was trying to hold herself from laughing to justify putting her in the bottom
Keta saying she flopped the season during the reunion crushed me, i really hope she can look back at it and be more proud now cause she is such an icon
She has some high standards for herself and it shows and shows beautifully. I think she’s still recovering from being cheated (pun intended) on her original season.
@@johnnybaxter8078 Pearl love was a theory. Plus she didn’t care for Pearl’s attitude. While Scarlet has been on the season multiple times and have proved range in personality. But Scarlet just isn’t her cup of tea for some reason. Which isn’t common. There are queens that Rupaul doesn’t seem to care for. But they seem to be around cause the fans love them.
im wondering if it’s cause Scarlet is Pearl’s drag daughter and Ru’s disdain for pearl just carries over like a 100 year long feud between the Hatfields and McCoys😩
This season also confirms to me that even if Pangina stayed all the way to the finale in the previous season, she wasn't going to win. They were always going to crown Blu or Baga, and they were going to make Pangina lose a lipsync to the edit, just like Marina. Now can we advance to the timeline where Thailand is back on our TVs and Marina replaces Ru as international host? Thank youuuu
It's fine, the fans decided the winner in the end, just like Jimbo/Pangina Marina will receive so many opportunities and international gigs, she's so well-received by fans worldwide.
vs The World *really* needs to work out some way to balance out comedy challenges (or general improv challenges) so the language barrier doesn't fuck over the likes of LGD and Keta. Mind you, the US franchise also frequently treats contestants whose first language is Spanish as little more than a joke because their English isn't perfect.
They need the dollhouse Challenge so Bad, that Challenge is the pentacles of drag...the perfect excuse to go full brand and at the same time to eliminate the bad taste girl, and I have this feel they dont use it since from season 1, it was for excuses from production over production value against branding...but thinking that way is an bad taste for drama...Q slayed that challenge and lets put that one for all franchises...
It's simple. They need to get a more diverse judging panel. If it's international, why is the panel entirely US/UK? At least with Global All Stars apparently they'll have other people like the Javis.
"Mayhem Miller's request for a cauldron isn't ignored by production in this unrigged format. Mayhem strategically placed her talent show script inside the cauldron and thus slays the talent show so hard that RuPaul immediately crowns her the winner of the season."
Tbh I was kinda worried Scarlet was gonna get robbed again with her placements for the talent show and ball but I’m glad she got her flowers in the commercial challenge bc that was long overdue
I think the biggest example of LGD struggling to adapt was snatch game. She WON snatch game on France 1, but Ru screwed her over and she ended up low, which I was shocked about.
Thet should have played it safe and embody all the cliches of their countries without being too intellectual. I’m french and LGD being Cotillard, or Marie Antoinette, or Emily on Paris depressed after discovering the actual France…
Keta MinaJ on this season reminded me a lot of Anita Wigl’It on Canada Vs. The World. Both were strong contenders who were early frontrunners on their seasons, only for them to be surprisingly sniped out when no one expected. And as a result, many wanted them back on a season like this. Yet with both of them, once they did these seasons, they belly-flop and don’t perform nearly as well as expected. I think what you said is right, there’s the language/cultural barrier on Keta’s side and getting her humor across in the comedy challenges. Same with Anita, I think on a fashion-heavy franchise like Canada (when that’s her weakest element as a DA), plus not getting her Down Under humor to work on this (especially since I think RuPaul and Brooke-Lynn Hytes have different senses of humor), I think that hindered her. Maybe they should’ve swapped franchises, who knows.
Thats a great idea, Keta would have ate the first 2 episodes on Can. vs. The World, Girl Groups&Ball meanwhile Anita could be saved on TalentShow, and if she survived the Ball, she would have done good on the comedy challenges, I feel she would have felt more confident on a season with Ru and a DU sister.
What I hate about the final result is that they could so easily get their way and avoid all this controversy. Wanna crown Tia Kofi? Fine, don't make the final challenge a lip sync tournament. This was never a thing until season 9 of the regular series, it's not a thing in the UK series, there's really no point in having it if you're going to just crown whoever you want anyway. Wanna always have a UK winner? Just make regular UK All Stars then. We're on season 5 of UK now, we have more than enough for a full cast. Anyway, I still liked the season and liiiiived for this cast, so many iconic queens. I'm happy it hapenned the way it hapenned, it was just the final episode that had a sour taste for me.
The only thing I can is that they're going to invite Marina to "Global All-Stars" to draw the large and enthusiastic Filipino fan base to watch what is likely going to be the most expensive season of Drag Race ever produced. She can hold her own against any winner from the past five or so years. She epitomizes drag excellence and deserved better than the way she was treated on vs the World.
The lip sync smackdown format is fine, but it doesn’t make sense when production want to push a queen that isn’t known for their lip sync skills (e.g. jinkx or tia) over another queen who is a lip sync assassin (e.g. monet or marina).
I completely agree with your unrigging, and I usually have some disagreements! Like, Tia was great this season and deserved to be in the finale, but she was not the winner. It was Marina's season, and as you said, it was obvious they wanted to eliminate Marina before the final lipsync no matter what. So sad to have that level of unfairness in the finale of such an interesting season, but oh well.
I think with scarlet, she focuses too much on the competition and doesn't really bond with any of the queens. Brooke during the reunion episode on 11 told scarlet to her face that she didn't really care for her and lot of the girls on their season didn't and I think the same thing happened here on uk vs the world.
Great video, thank you Derek :) I just think you're overlooking LGD's impact a bit on this season: she had overall the best runway package (espescially from a high fashion pov, some pieces she wore were haute couture) and she offered us so many iconic moments/gifs (I mean, her hands applauding in the condom look, come on, and the way she lipsynched anyway in the Minogue's song during the French part)... But again, I'm French so I'm a littleee biaised 😂 Loved Marina and Hannah, and congrats to Tia for a deserved win at the end of the day 🎉
I'm rewatching this video back and just got to the part where he talks about LGD. He didn't undermine how well she did on the season. He mentioned that she had great runways and she literally brought the best fashion to the runways but in terms of storyline, she just didn't have a narrative. We were left with nothing but amazing fashion and a showmance with Tia Kofi. Definitely the producers' fault for not giving her more to do narratively though.
Well marina isn’t as well rounded as Tia. Marinas not good at acting / comedy or improve. She’s good at dancing and runway. Tias good at performing/ comedy / improve / runway Tia also had the most growth and is a confessional favourite. Would love to see marina and lagrandevabd Hannah on allstars
@moyaxoxo5923 she is good at improv and comedy. It's just the language barrier pulling her back. If you watch her original season, she won an improv challenge while being placed high on Snatch Game
@@moyaxoxo5923 this just shows how u didn't watch drph at all 💀💀. saying marina isn't good at comedy or improv when the first ever challenge she won was literally a comedy & improv challenge 😭😭. as a filo, marina *is* funny. but as the commenter above me said, the language barrier definitely held her back since filipino humor doesn't really translate well in english
Keta’s run on this season was so heartbreaking for me. i didn’t see her original season prior (have since watched) but IMMEDIATELY fell in love with her and i felt like i was robbed of so much. early early early on i was really praying for a Marina, LGD, Scarlet, and Keta top 4💔💔
55:50 Agreed, get rid of the lip syncs for the crown. You can do a lip sync tournament during the season, but not to determine the winner. Also, I like having VsTheWorld seasons, but please have more queens, more countries represented and of course more episodes. But also, have less emphasis on comedy and humour challenges. Having a few is fine, but not as many compared to the number overall as humour is one of the more difficult thing to “translate” as it’s not just a language issue, but a cultural issue.
Wish they would stop the vs the world format if a uk girl is gonna win no matter what. Ru loved Marina, the audience loved Marina, she killed the season. No matter how hard her fans try to justify it Tia winning just didn't make sense.
My takeaway is that you *need* to watch España season 1. That season is still one of my favorites. The cast is amazing, the challenges are fun, theres a good mix of drama and heart, and one of the best winners to ever grace the mainstage. The judges are also really kind and lovable for the first season. Its a very feel-good experience.
19:15 You nailed it! As viewers, most of us didn’t get the nuances of what this challenge was about. I sure hope they gave the queens more details and guidelines off camera; because the tidbit RuPaul explained was clear as mud. I would have been easily confused as to what the assignment was. Now I’m Canadian 🇨🇦 and a native French speaker, but I’ve now spent more than half my life in an English environment, so I’d say I have a good command of the language. I don’t think that was the main issue with this challenge even though being ESL was definitely and added layer. I just think the parameters were not defined enough.
🇫🇷 here, I partly agree with you. The queens wrote their own script and had several takes. It’s the easiest type of the « speaking challenge ». That being said, LGD was clearly struggling during filming. No idea what her initial exposure to an English-speaking environnement was, but most french people who are fluent in English either live in Francophone countries or keep to Francophone circles if they’re expat. In school we’re just taught enough to read and write in English and hold simple conversations. I took the Advanced English course in high school and I had to read a book and give an analysis of a random chapter to a jury, just like we do in French Literature Class. We’re simply not trained to speak English here, it’s not valued. People actually learn to read/write/listen on their own with the internet and English speaking media, but again. not to speak it. Being suddenly put in an English speaking environnement is on a whole another level.
@@JinMeowsoon One thing I want to add before I focus on the language part, it is the cultural aspect. It’s not just about being able to understand and express oneself in English, culture is a huge aspect. Sense of humour is a big thing; or traditions such as roasts that, as per La Grande Dame, aren’t so much a thing in France. So having to do something like that (and we saw with Scarlet that even if you master the language part, you can still flop! She thought otherwise though) is a huge undertaking if you’re not familiar what it’s supposed to look like. Or when I was watching DR France2, I was taken aback to the fact that it is common to have games at weddings?! We don’t so that kind of stuff in Canada. So even if I understand what’s going on (a few differences in vocabulary, but not an issue to understand…for example, “une doudoune” as shown in one of the episode…never used that word in my life!) I would have been ill-equipped to come up with ideas as I have no point of reference. Or just thinking of the Rusical for DRFrance2, it was well loved and received in the US despite the audience lack of references; that shows how good it was. They are not familiar with Notre-Dame de Paris or Starmania. They would have appreciate even more how good it was! Anyhow, all this to say that cultural background is a big deal on those vsTW, and this should be taken into account when determining the challenges; and having cast members from more franchises might also assist with that. Now the language barrier: That’s definitely a huge factor. I was born and grew up in Québec, 🇨🇦 but I moved to the West Coast of Canada a tad over 25 years ago, (before LGD was born…ironically, we have the same birthday and she’s currently half my age!) A lot of people here in British Columbia (Vancouver area) have English as an additional language; most inhabitants come from somewhere else in the world…you don’t encounter many people who’s grandparents were actually born in BC. So it’s part of our everyday life. If I look back to when I first moved here, I started working for the government within 6 months, and even though the office I worked at was providing services in both English and French, my position was English only, and the first few months, I struggled especially when working the switchboard, often talking to individuals who barely spoke English as well. Anyhow, I’ve seen some YT videos from LGD, and I feel she can express herself quite well. That being said, it’s another story when you’re under pressure/competition setting, and even more if the “assignment” isn’t clear! I’ve witness the same situation for US DR with queens with Spanish as a first language, or Nicky Doll. It wasn’t as challenging on Canada’s Drag Race with the queens from Québec who have French as a first language, or the many queens who immigrated to Canada coming from countries where English isn’t their mother tongue. There were some struggles, but I think the overall environment was more conducive and aware of this dynamic. And I also noticed it on DR Belgium where many queens have French as a learned language.
Your comment about the rusical not being a rusical. It's based off of the musical Six about the six wives of Henry VIII, listening to it i 100% drew the parallells to the musical. But it's a very British reference- which you'd expect on a British show.
During the season itself I felt pretty much all of her placements were fair (maybe she deserved a bottom 3/low instead of safe once or twice, but otherwise I didn't disagree with any of them), but we all know lipsyncing is not Tia's strong suit so the finale just felt like AS7 all over again.
@@vanderson83 I just meant in the sense that they had a clear winner of the overall season in mind, who is someone not known for their lipsyncing ability...and yet they decided to make the finale a lipsync for the crown and editing the hell out of the lipsyncs to justify the result.
Agreed re: the Hannah vs Marina final lipsync. I saw so many people claiming Hannah was "channeling" Anastacia when in reality, there is far more to channeling Anastacia than just putting on some sunglasses. I fully agree that they gave Hannah the win to avoid having Marina in the top 2.
The difference with Hannah's lipsync was that she hit every beat, every riff, every sub-line. She knew that song from front to back and to me, that's more of an impressive lipsync than Marina's just this once. And I adore Marina.
@@shaedomoonI think the way it was edited was just unfair because it showed Hannah’s highlights and cut out Marina’s highlights so in comparison, it looked like Hannah did a better job. They could’ve kept them both in the frame since they were both front and center at the climax of the song but they chose not to do that.
With Jonbers on this season, it reminded me a bit of Veronica Green on UK3. Veronica was unfortunately disqualified on UK2 due to her health after lockdown, but was invited back the next season. And from what it sounds like, she didn't get much chance to watch herself back or grow as an artist before going on UK3 because she had to scrounge a whole new runway package and get new stuff together at the last minute. As a result, she was barely prepared and, just like Jonbers, ended up going out in the third episode. I could see Veronica as a solid option for a future Vs. The World season or something, but rushing back when she wasn't ready definitely hindered her, just like it hindered Jonbers this time.
55:07 it happened to Eureka at the season 10 finale. Apparently Aquaria fell twice during their lipstick but they knew they couldn't crown Kameron and they had already turned the fandom against Eureka so they made it a double win
This is the probably the best Vs the World season. My favorite Top 4 ever! Although I was rooting for Hanna to win it's good to see a queen with the actual best track record win a Vs the World season.
Just finished rewatching DRH2 after watching it a few years ago. Keta is such a star, I’m sad she didn’t really get to take off and have the same publicity like Marina or LGD were able to achieve as she was also a frontrunner on her original season. Like man, she was insanely good. Regardless I hope she’s proud, even one win from Rupaul is huge. Would love to see her back or My Little Puny for a later season sometime. ❤️
Unfortunately I think that the comedy challenges will always be hard for queens from other countries because of the language barrier of course, but also because of culture in general. Humor is subjective. I'm french canadian, fully bilingual, and the only challenges that genuienly make me laugh on RPDR are the ones from France and Canada (especially the Quebec queens). I understand all the jokes from the english speaking seasons too, but the french ones just hit different for me.
I was rooting for Marina the entire time, and I also knew they’d never let her win. The RPDR franchise seems to hate Asians for whatever reason-they’re never, ever allowed to win, and this isn’t the first time something like this has happened, though it’s the most obviously rigged. So disappointed.
Now we just need to wait for All Stars 11, where Marina wins 7 challenges and defeats Nicole Paige Brooks from Atlanta Georgia in the final lip-sync of the season. VS the World seasons, especially UK, feel more like “oh, let’s give the crown to a beloved all-star and give exposure to queens on non-RuPaul hosted seasons”. We saw it with Jimbo, Pangina and Janey, we saw it with LGD, Keta, Marina, and Arantxa. We even saw it a bit with Hannah (since no one watched DRDU2, which is a shame because it was a good season, and their Bring Back My Girls is MESSY in the best way). Their prize wasn’t a crown, their prize was positive exposure to the main fanbase of the show which gives them more booking opportunities and a chance to come back for a U.S. All Stars. While I’m not saying that’s the best way to go about it, that seems like the purpose of the VS the World format, and probably why UK and Canada don’t have their own All-Stars formats because they can just crown their favorites in a shorter-form season (and if they really want, they can have them on a US All-Stars since we’ve seen that with Vivienne and Jimbo). Honestly what was most refreshing about this season was that the US queens didn’t dominate the edit and season. Yes, it was Mayhem and Scarlet’s third time out, but they didn’t overshadow the non-US queens (and especially the non-Ru hosted queens) like Jujubee, Mo, Silky, and Ra’jah did. They were just there to compete. This was the season that actually made me LIKE Scarlet’s TV persona.
I thought for a bit that La Grande Dame was being pushed for a bit up until like mid season. But I do really wish there was a way ESL queens can be treated more fairly in comedy challenges, maybe make them perform in their own language and just translate?
The tia hate this time is so forced and NOT deserved at all. Was she pushed?? Yes, a little bit not as much as the bitter fans make it to seem, but she literally deserves 3/4 of her wims and overall did a SOLID GOOD JOB in this season. Calling her slurs and horrible things on social media while discrediting her win is disgusting behavior and NOT needed at all.
@@bosoudang you ARE the problem with this fandom. I feel sorry for small minded people like your sad little type. omg... this fandom is so frustrating the last few years.
Where did you see people being awful to Tia? I only hang out on the RPDR subreddits and on RUclips and I mostly saw people calling out production for putting Tia and Marina in this shit situation… some people were critiquing some of Tia’s looks and lipsyncs compared to the other queens, but they weren’t being insulting.
Yeah. Tia is a winner, having 1 win or some high placements that are iffy are normal. I didnt agree with Sasha winning the ball, i could see an argument for Thorgy winning over Bob in the RuCo's Empire challenge and many other examples. Its legit racism and bitterness for Marina, which i share the feeling, but it aint Tia's fault.
Slight nitpick but its a pet peeve… “she could care less” makes no sense! Thats suggesting that they do actually care and maybe could care a little less Just say “couldn’t care less” that gets the point across perfectly 🤣 Great video though as always! 😊
I would love if at the end of these type of videos you put a track record table with the placements you think wouldve been fair, either for these or for the "what if this season wasnt rigged?" I think it would be a cute addition 😆
I strongly disagree with all the results of the lip sync tournament in the finale. Beyond that though, this season felt surprisingly fair. People saying Tia was pushed but I don’t really see it. Maybe low in the ball, the talent show, or the dancing challenge, but never a bottom. Like derek mentioned too, only one of her wins felt questionable.
Despite the langage barrier the roast got me cackling ! The rusical :Seven:, the Strictly challenge and the final challenge was the best succession of challenges I have seen for a long time ! It has been a treat to watch the whole season, I have not enjoyed an "all star" / "spin off" for a long time as well. The only thing that made me cringe was Snatch Game, tough watch and the Family edition was definetely the nail on the coffin... The interactions between the queens is so touching and feel genuine ! So lucky to have met all those queens
They should stop doing VS The World if they're not going to help the ESL queens because it's not fair for them. I feel Ru has always been like that to non-English queens like Spanish speaking queens in the US.
For ep2 I do think Marina should have been top2 as well, because ok her chubby sea creature was odd, but for the judges to NOT understand her prince reference?! and to not reward that last look? was atrocious.
I have to say that LGD did win that lipsync against Tia tbh I found Tia's lipsyncs really bad, even her talent show was bad, she got lucky we got really bad performances because she was in the bottom half. LGD gave everything in that finale lipsync. I wish Marina saw the writing's on the wall and picked LGD instead of Hannah.
There are tons of things I'd like to say but I'll make it brief, for a nicer quick read: 1. Excellent recap, especially from the second half to the end. 2. I think you really need to watch La Grande Dame's OG Season for a better understanding of her processes and do it with a wider vision / criteria, mate, 'cause you give me the impression that you judge everybody from a very Americanized point of view; we're talking about International Queens here, henny. 3. The way you talk about Kylie Minogue, OH MY GAWWWD!!! Bravo, henny, B-R-A-V-O!!!!! Those were some of the sweetest and loveliest words I've ever heard from a RUclipsr, talking about Her on a context completely out of the usual ones. Actually, I don't think anyone else addressed this at all, so, thank You a million times for doing it!!! That's all. 😉😘💖😁👍👍
I feel like they got it right doing a heavy performance season for VS the world. They could've even taken out the commercial episode and made it another design challenge or even a makeover, which is something anyone can do regardless of their language. Its like you said, we didn't feel it as much on other global seasons because the majority of the cast has english as their first language or they speak english very well. This was the first season where you can actually see the queens struggling to keep up with the language (specially Keta).
I feel that after it happens twice, they will find it very hard to get queens to sign up for UK vs the World. At the same time, looking at this season we had four international queens who were among the best in their franchise and UK queens who were all interesting picks but had one win among the four of them (and that one was shared and let's be fair, Choriza was the least likely to have been picked to get that win over River, Ella or Vanity if it was a solo win). They clearly cannot attract their best talent for these seasons.
tbf i did think Scarlet deserved the top 4 First episode deserved high Second (for me) also deserved high but there could be a case because the first look was so weak compared to the one she made Third episode totally crushed Fourth episode also think she could’ve been top 2 instead of Tia but Tia also did awesome Fifth episode totally deserved Top 2 lets be real Sixth she didn’t deserved the bottom because individually she did better than La Grande Dame and Tia but Choriza pulled her down And finally in the roast it was her first time really deserving that bottom but with the track record she had i think she should’ve stayed That said i think it was an amazing top 4 (one of the strongest) don’t want to discredit anyone and everyone did awesome and give us an amazing amazing season
I'm sorry but Tia still did not win the last lipsync at all. She was STILL stiff. Also, it's odd that any other queen who'd smash a bottle on stage would get more slack or be called "messy" yet for Tia it's funny and made her win the reason?
My only problem with this season is how they calculated wins. It’s either Top 2 of the week both get wins (and Tia has 4 wins) OR the badges matter (and Tia has 1 win) this half and half shit made no sense.
I wouldn’t say Keta had a language barrier, considering her snatch game win on DRH was in English. Whilst LGD is also fluent, she obviously had a much harder time with comedy, which I think is unfair. Marina def did the best with her snatch game and roast, given English isn’t her first language
Derek, please go watch/listen to SIX the musical. It explains who Anne Boleyn is but also is the musical they are parodying in the Rusical (not well, but it is)
I could watch all of this series queens on a loop, AS7 rules applied. Just a fantastic cast: gorgeous runways, so much talent, so much positivity. Loved it, best VS series yet.
Agree. The rusical was the only time Tia was pushed to the top. I don't get it, were they scared she wouldn't get more top 2 placements? She was safe at best. This can show how she was production fave to win.

I feel like RuPaul had no clue who Carla Bruni was, and then said "why don't you do this person without an accent, because its very thick and I don't understand." Which, yikes, possibly on bikes. And then I think it was Alan Carr saying that LGD should have done Celine Dion for snatch game. Like WHAT? Celine Dion, is francophone, but she is not French! I don't even know if Celine Dion is all that popular in France. Just, what?
I’ve been watching from day one and know many of the queens personally from living in LA before the show. My bias shows because i was good friends with Delta Work back in the day, and third season was my favorite. But from the first episode to me this is the best season of drag race ever.
As a French person, I don't really understand why la grande dame says that we don't roast and we don't shade because it is just not true we do it a lot. We are really sarcastic people we even have a term for that which is second degre (second grade) which basically mean that we don't mean things literally we just mean it for the joke... not saying that she should have donc better though, comedy in an other language is very complicated !
I agree that Tia shouldn't have been in the top for the Rusical but even without that she would still have had the second best track record behind Marina. So yeah I don't really see the Tia was pushed narrative, even in the rusical it isn't like she did bad I'd just have put Hannah or Scarlet in the top over her. Tia deserved her win, if it had been Marina or Hannah or LGD they would have deserved too. The top four were very strong all season as was Scarlet. It's a shame the fandom reacted the way they did.
I've not seen a single person that's not from the USA disagree with Scarlet's low placemente. Y'all like her too much (I like her too but didn't find her funny that specific challenge) The rest of the season yeah she could've had maybe 1 more win but her tr wasn't unfair and it's kind of useless to give her another win knowing the other queens don't like her
You’re right about Keta I feel. I’m Dutch and I could tell the was translating in her head every time she spoke. I’m sure she understands English perfectly well, but flawlessly speaking another language is difficult regardless.
They would never do Slut Pop on the BBC, they would’ve had to censor the entire song lol. Future Starts Now makes sense, it’s probably to promote Problematique which she dropped last year, Future Starts Now was supposed to be the lead single of the album but then the album never came, until last year.
I personally loved this season. I liked how little focus the American/UK queens got compared to last time. Like LGD, Hannah, and Marina were the highlights of the season for me and it ended up being one of my faves!
AS6 was one of the first seasons i watched meaning i didn't even know about scarlet, and since she left early i didn't get to care for her. but with this appearance i loved her attitude, very unserious, entertaining and just having a great time. i had absolutely the same thought with the critiques for her talent show, like y'all don't even want her there 😭 hope she makes the best of the opportunity though
It's such a shame what happened to Keta on the season. She is really funny, but you can clearly see her struggling. In the Netherlands most of us are basically raised in English as well, so I was surprised. On camera it seemed like she didn't really connect with the other queens (while I thought she might with Marina based on the first episode). Translating Dutch humor is difficult to fit American humor. She was just totally out of her element. I was kinda hoping this would spark a season 3 of Holland, but with the franchise getting excluded from global all-stars it feels like it's truly dead. I do feel like LGD was getting saved from the bottom on multiple occassions was very obvious tho, as much as I love her.
I hope aranxta gets her flowers from this, maybe even a spot on espana all stars or global all stars, I got to meet her at a watch party and she's just as nice and funny as she seems on TV, she even jokingly bullied my boyfriend for having a hickey 😭 it was camp she's my fave
I agree that for BBC it makes sense for them to always have a British queen winning. But I wonder if other queens will now want to participate when now its pretty obvious they will never win just because of being non-british. At this point, they should just do an Only UK All Stars like Spain did and leave only a Global All Stars instead of having these sillies vsTheWorld
On the 1st episode, Arantxa should have been in the bottom. She basically did nothing, and her number went nowhere. I would have put Gothy low-safe because she looked uncomfortable but the fire thing was actually cool.
Scarlet seems really fake to me tho.
I think the problem with Scarlet is they come over as cold, smug and arrogant
Especially the roast, I might be delusional but her jokes were really funny and it almost felt like Ru was trying to hold herself from laughing to justify putting her in the bottom
Keta saying she flopped the season during the reunion crushed me, i really hope she can look back at it and be more proud now cause she is such an icon
Her lady prince look 😍
Fr...like babe she cracked me tf up in her acting challenge..it was soo chaotic💀💀
Probably thanks to Jonbers Blonde not having any idea who she was and calling her messy and needing of drag help.
She has some high standards for herself and it shows and shows beautifully. I think she’s still recovering from being cheated (pun intended) on her original season.

Pearl of the sea mean marina summer
im wondering if it’s cause Scarlet is Pearl’s drag daughter and Ru’s disdain for pearl just carries over like a 100 year long feud between the Hatfields and McCoys😩
I've been saying the exact same thing - VSTW will never crown someone who isn't from the US or the host country
Exactly. So rigged. No more UK VS The world.
💀💀
It's fine, the fans decided the winner in the end, just like Jimbo/Pangina Marina will receive so many opportunities and international gigs, she's so well-received by fans worldwide.
@aridollx it truly was but production wouldn't have allowed that
vs The World *really* needs to work out some way to balance out comedy challenges (or general improv challenges) so the language barrier doesn't fuck over the likes of LGD and Keta.

Yeah in the Snatch Game Ru wasn't playing with certain queens and it pissed me off. She took the rules of improv and said "nah" instead of "yes and"
I think the biggest example of LGD struggling to adapt was snatch game. She WON snatch game on France 1, but Ru screwed her over and she ended up low, which I was shocked about.
Yeah, Keta also won her 1st Snatch Game, and Marina was the second best in hers.
Thet should have played it safe and embody all the cliches of their countries without being too intellectual.
I’m french and LGD being Cotillard, or Marie Antoinette, or Emily on Paris depressed after discovering the actual France…
The editing of Mayhem’s and Gothy’s bombing being so unserious honestly kills me every time 🤣🤣🤣
The true winners of Miss IJBOL
@aridollx you better put some respect on Anita
Thankfully it's getting canceled after this season and to be replaced with Global All Stars ❤

Drag Race UK All Stars NEEDS to happen, the sheer amount of queens who deserve a second chance while some in USA were on their 4th time competing.
I was thinking this exact same thing. If España can have an all stars, so can UK!
An hour long?? We are being FED
The lip sync smackdown format is fine, but it doesn’t make sense when production want to push a queen that isn’t known for their lip sync skills (e.g. jinkx or tia) over another queen who is a lip sync assassin (e.g. monet or marina).
I’m just so into unrigging right now.
As a viewer, I don’t care for her much either. Idk, she irks me.

"for every Kylie Sonique Love there's gonna be a Serena ChaCha"
Wish they would stop the vs the world format if a uk girl is gonna win no matter what. Ru loved Marina, the audience loved Marina, she killed the season. No matter how hard her fans try to justify it Tia winning just didn't make sense.

I was really rooting for Marina Summer. She's such a icon with so much talent!! But kudos Tia kofi for winning for snatching that crown
Now the language barrier:
That’s definitely a huge factor.

So disappointed.
wtf does production have against cauldrons man, first Thorgy and now Mayhem?? lmao
Been waiting for you to make a riggory video of uk vs the world 2
The tia hate this time is so forced and NOT deserved at all. Was she pushed?? Yes, a little bit not as much as the bitter fans make it to seem, but she literally deserves 3/4 of her wims and overall did a SOLID GOOD JOB in this season. Yeah. Tia is a winner, having 1 win or some high placements that are iffy are normal. Its legit racism and bitterness for Marina, which i share the feeling, but it aint Tia's fault.

Yep I agree. Couldn't care less makes more sense.
I didn't even watch this season but I'm just here to defend Tia Kofi and troll Derek's comments
hey mother
Ily for defending tia omg..
There are tons of things I'd like to say but I'll make it brief, for a nicer quick read:
I need a whole season of Kylie and Janet lipsyncs, their discographies are incredible
There should be an All Stars: Design edition. Where the queens just design costumes for the entire season. I would 100% watch that.
tbf i did think Scarlet deserved the top 4
First episode deserved high
Second (for me) also deserved high but there could be a case because the first look was so weak compared to the one she made
Third episode totally crushed
Fourth episode also think she could’ve been top 2 instead of Tia but Tia also did awesome
Fifth episode totally deserved Top 2 lets be real
Sixth she didn’t deserved the bottom because individually she did better than La Grande Dame and Tia but Choriza pulled her down
And finally in the roast it was her first time really deserving that bottom but with the track record she had i think she should’ve stayed
That said i think it was an amazing top 4 (one of the strongest) don’t want to discredit anyone and everyone did awesome and give us an amazing amazing season
I agree!
Who do you think Hannah should have eliminated at the Roast episode?
@@goddessathena6940 well if they had the track record i talked about i think it would be La Grand Dame even though i love her so much
@@HermenejildoPimiento Respect. I think so too as well.
I like what S16 did for the lip sync battle - making it an extra episode/prize feels right.
I'm sorry but Tia still did not win the last lipsync at all. She was STILL stiff. Also, it's odd that any other queen who'd smash a bottle on stage would get more slack or be called "messy" yet for Tia it's funny and made her win the reason?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEREK!!!
My only problem with this season is how they calculated wins. It’s either Top 2 of the week both get wins (and Tia has 4 wins) OR the badges matter (and Tia has 1 win) this half and half shit made no sense.
I don't understand anyone who says tia won against lagrande. Like no offense but it was maybe the worst lip-sync preformance of the season.
I'd love to see a "riggory of drag race france" video!
Another great vid! Here’s how I would judge the season:

I feel like RuPaul had no clue who Carla Bruni was, and then said "why don't you do this person without an accent, because its very thick and I don't understand." Which, yikes, possibly on bikes. And then I think it was Alan Carr saying that LGD should have done Celine Dion for snatch game. Like WHAT? Celine Dion, is francophone, but she is not French! I don't even know if Celine Dion is all that popular in France. Just, what?
Drag Detective riggory video after school, I'm sold 😊
Velvet Rope changed my life when I first listened to it. Will be playing Body Language after I get a chance to listen to Ray of Light
I was literally thinking last night “I wonder when the Drag Detective is gonna post another video” and voila! Now I need to watch UKvtW2 😁
I really want a Spanish-language Mexico or Spain vs the World!
It’s like Derek knew I just smoked a bowl n needed something to listen to ☺️💖
I've not seen a single person that's not from the USA disagree with Scarlet's low placemente.
Better this way
I personally would neva Eva want to hear a Slutpop song as a lipsynch song on the show
Would be far too inappropriate
I've never agreed more with you on a video, is like we both have ESPN 😮. Marina and Scarlett were my favs and also Hannah
Thank you for the Janet Jackson love. The Velvet Rope is my fave album ever! Glad younger people are discovering it :)
You didn't mention who SHOULD be top or bottom in the talent show instead of Chorizo and Scarlet! Curious to see what you think lol
he will say when he does the unrigging video
