I mean being a drag queen lends itself to roleplay quite well because it in itself is playing some sort of character. This series is definitely going to be a fun watch.

Jujube thinking she’s invisible the entire time is just so funny to me! Bobs immediate inclination for character detail, alaskas humor and ogre jaw, and Monets whole soul being invested in her family drama… I fricken LOVED every second and I need more! I’ve never played or even watched D&D and I’m 100% looking for a local group!

They really added a new level of humor, confusion, and intrigue in the game of DND. It was fun watching them learn. I wish the full series was free. I want to see the rest of this story but I can't pay for it lol

Right?? I've just had "Purse First" stuck in my head but now "Curse First". It will forever be "Curse First" from now on. I don't know whose idea that was, if it was Bob's, Brennan's, (Izzy's??!), or another brilliant crew member but that person needs a raise and is now a queer nerd icon.
When I saw the cast...I knew there had to be at least _something_ but this is such a treasure trove and I'm here for it! I'm so happy!

I love how Brennan never shoots down any of the queens' ideas, instead bending the rules of D&D to do what they want to try. Its a small detail, but as someone who's been playing for a while, its so refreshing to see the unbridled creativity of people who are new to the game be wholeheartedly accepted!

He is loveable for that. He has done it often to try and help people learn. As long as they aren't wasting a move for the sake of a bit or it means other players don't get a fair chance, he'll at least discuss it. 😊

With all the bizarre things Twyla has been doing in this series (trying to eat the All Blossom, almost drinking from the River of Death, telling the worst possible lies, falling off magic carpets etc.), it makes it even funnier that *she* is the sole survivor of the Fey. How the hell did she survive that battle in the first place?! She can barely survive an episode

Bob plays very uniquely, I noticed that they narrate what they are doing a lot, almost like the DM would. I think I like it and I don't think it breaks any rules.

@@alecelliott7506 Yeah I saw someone say she had "DM that finally gets to play for once energy" and I think that's accurate. Obviously she's not actually DM'd but presumably she's still use to hosting stuff or something. At the very least she's super creative. Love it.

You can tell that she's inexperienced with D&D but is fully engaged with what's going on. Which is EXACTLTY what a DM wants from a new player.

Brennen almost dug himself Into a hole with that Alvin the chipmunk voice. Had to make sure he killed the charachter off so they couldn't pull a Gilear and make him a main charachter.

brennan is just an absolutely exceptional DM and i love the way he’s so kind to new players and explains things in depth and has so much patience for everyone and doesn’t judge at all bc everyone is just learning and having fun it’s just so beautiful to me :3
Even the way he just roles with the bits, like during the exposition for Monet’s character, and he just slips into their little side conversation without any reaction, then continues. Comedic peaks.
I love how Brennan will ALWAYS answer a question, and never answer it with disdain or annoyance he never treats anyone as stupid for asking questions and its something I often model myself after, It is very compassionate and kind-hearted and it portrays patience and humility, just one of many parts of Humility, it's a touching gesture.
I experienced a LOT of GMs like Brennan whenever I play D&D, and I became friends with most of them.
This is actually my favourite quality about my husband. It's a rare and beautiful quality.
i had a dm who was a lot like brennan (funny enough their name is honey lol) for one of the firsts times i played dnd n it literally makes a world of a difference!!! it's so refreshing to see it too
I think to be a GM you need to have teacher-like qualities and patience. You have to enjoy teaching people and letting them obtain the knowledge so they can have as much fun as you do!

I absolutely love how Brennan is at guiding new players. It's not easy. I am a new player and tried playing with a friend group. Our friend really wanted us all to get into it, but he gave no guidance and seemed angry at what we all tried, but we weren't being outrageous. We were getting silver weapons because we realized we needed them and he was trying to make it impossible because he didn't want us to have them and wanted us to talk to a specific person, but wouldn't tell us that. He didn't limit what races people could choose from and then made it so certain party members stood out so much we couldn't get things done.
It was so frustrating because he had moments that were great, but those moments were all part of the narrative.
It would have been nice to have someone who explained everything so well and so patiently. Also, this cast is amazing! I love them all so much! They are so fun!

@@gappyconscience683 he was. He also picked the darkest storyline that was more advanced because he was used to playing, but I don't think he was used to being a DM. And we had a couple people in the group who didn't make it easy. I love playing with them as a player, but not so much as a DM.

I love how each of them has a very specific RP domain where they're incredibly efficient
Monét: Maintains the mission that keeps the plot on track
Bob: Secondary GM filling 60% of the flavor in the narration
Alaska: Pieces together the plot with only two clues
Jujubee: Actually follows through on an insane whim so brilliant it's instantly made canon
Very much their personalities and they've known each other for years. It's so great watching them.

I love how non-condescending Brennan is. "What's a boon?" and he calmly explains. Also love that he dressed up in his own drag.

there is an interview where he talks about figuring out what to wear and (i think) it was bob who asked him, “well what would be your perfect drag? we’ve dressed as women but that doesn’t have to be yours” and that’s SO BEAUTIFUL
@@heelhairflipsI had never heard drag talked about in that way before, and it’s very cool to consider. Reminds me of the meme that says something like, “If you don’t get dressed up and pretend to be a wizard at least once in a while, then are you really living?”
I’m not part of the drag community, so this is based on nothing but the idea presented by that quote; maybe drag can be whatever we would choose to wear if we weren’t expected to follow certain social or cultural conventions about clothing. Like hey, if you want to wear ornate robes every so often, or as much as possible, simply because you can and it feels right, then that’s your drag.

Not to derail the conversation, but it also reminds me of a point I’d thought of regarding Christians, and their often prudish nature about the human body. What was the first sign the Bible says that their God recognized that Adam and Eve had sinned? It was that they’d covered their bodies. According to their book, their God wanted us to be naked, and humans continue to defy this by wearing clothes. 😆

This is the first dnd campaign i’ve ever seen, but i can just tell this was fucking incredible and special. That dungeon master has a gift! Loved the way he weaved all their jokes into the story seamlessly and answered their questions while keeping the pace. The queens where hilarious and their different energies where so fun. Alaska was paying attention honey and Bob was into it!
Brennan is widely agreed to be one of the best DM’s in the community, this is so exciting to see so many drag race fans enjoying really really high Caliber dnd for their first time!
I wholeheartedly encourage you to check out the rest of Dimension 20, the fun you're having here is not the exception.

Dungeons and Drag Queens could be it's own free standing spinoff series (specifically with Brennan as the Game Master of course)! You have stumbled on an amazing combination!
I came across a few shorts which were funny but I never expected to like this so much that I literally consumed the entire 2 hour episode in one sitting. I absolutely would have kept right on watching had the rest been readily available. I'm definitely going to track down the rest regardless of what paywall they are behind, which is something I almost never do!

I am kindly leaving a comment here to let Dropout know that this crossover was the BEST choice ever. Being new to D&D and learning in real time with the queens was such a lovely way to be introduced to the game. The limited episode run was also an amazing length for a new watcher. @blammmed He tends to do a lot of urban fantasy on Dimension 20, e.g. Fantasy High, Unsleeping City, etc, and in general there's a lot of genre-hopping, so it's a little rare for him to be doing such straight ahead medieval high fantasy type stuff on the show

This is Brennan doing a 'How to introduce new players to D&D'. And he's doing it superbly! Explaining the mechanics clearly and simply. And letting the players try anything that comes into their heads. Back in the late 70s, I had to figure it out from scratch.

I'm a HUGE fan of Drag Race and have watched every season of RuPauls, but never been slightly interested in DnD. However, this has totally turned me onto DnD!! How incredible with the role playing, the world building and Brennan's narration, I'm absolutely living for the fantasy!
