I'm watching on dimension 20 and honestly how this offhand story ended up playing out had me sobbing happy queer tears.
And then the ultimate yes-and in episode 3, where it’s revealed the ‘grandfather’ is a trans woman. Masterful.
Jujubee being both enamored with the story and not knowing 90% of the references being made is just hilarious. The queens are fabulous, Brennen is fabulous.

She’s an actual genius and people are really put off by her voice and the way she acts but it’s all an act. She knows what she’s doing
I love how Brennan never shoots down any of the queens' ideas, instead bending the rules of D&D to do what they want to try. Its a small detail, but as someone who's been playing for a while, its so refreshing to see the unbridled creativity of people who are new to the game be wholeheartedly accepted!

He is loveable for that. He has done it often to try and help people learn. As long as they aren't wasting a move for the sake of a bit or it means other players don't get a fair chance, he'll at least discuss it. 😊

Bob plays very uniquely, I noticed that they narrate what they are doing a lot, almost like the DM would. I think I like it and I don't think it breaks any rules.

I love how Brennan will ALWAYS answer a question, and never answer it with disdain or annoyance he never treats anyone as stupid for asking questions and its something I often model myself after, It is very compassionate and kind-hearted and it portrays patience and humility, just one of many parts of Humility, it's a touching gesture.
I experienced a LOT of GMs like Brennan whenever I play D&D, and I became friends with most of them.
This is actually my favourite quality about my husband. It's a rare and beautiful quality.
i had a dm who was a lot like brennan (funny enough their name is honey lol) for one of the firsts times i played dnd n it literally makes a world of a difference!!! it's so refreshing to see it too
I think to be a GM you need to have teacher-like qualities and patience. You have to enjoy teaching people and letting them obtain the knowledge so they can have as much fun as you do!

I love how non-condescending Brennan is. "What's a boon?" and he calmly explains. Also love that he dressed up in his own drag.

there is an interview where he talks about figuring out what to wear and (i think) it was bob who asked him, “well what would be your perfect drag? we’ve dressed as women but that doesn’t have to be yours” and that’s SO BEAUTIFUL
@@heelhairflipsI had never heard drag talked about in that way before, and it’s very cool to consider. Reminds me of the meme that says something like, “If you don’t get dressed up and pretend to be a wizard at least once in a while, then are you really living?”
I’m not part of the drag community, so this is based on nothing but the idea presented by that quote; maybe drag can be whatever we would choose to wear if we weren’t expected to follow certain social or cultural conventions about clothing. Like hey, if you want to wear ornate robes every so often, or as much as possible, simply because you can and it feels right, then that’s your drag.

Not to derail the conversation, but it also reminds me of a point I’d thought of regarding Christians, and their often prudish nature about the human body. What was the first sign the Bible says that their God recognized that Adam and Eve had sinned? It was that they’d covered their bodies. According to their book, their God wanted us to be naked, and humans continue to defy this by wearing clothes. 😆
I love how each of them has a very specific RP domain where they're incredibly efficient

This is the first dnd campaign i’ve ever seen, but i can just tell this was fucking incredible and special. That dungeon master has a gift! Loved the way he weaved all their jokes into the story seamlessly and answered their questions while keeping the pace. The queens where hilarious and their different energies where so fun. Alaska was paying attention honey and Bob was into it!
Brennan is widely agreed to be one of the best DM’s in the community, this is so exciting to see so many drag race fans enjoying really really high Caliber dnd for their first time!

I absolutely love how Brennan is at guiding new players. It's not easy. I am a new player and tried playing with a friend group. Our friend really wanted us all to get into it, but he gave no guidance and seemed angry at what we all tried, but we weren't being outrageous. We were getting silver weapons because we realized we needed them and he was trying to make it impossible because he didn't want us to have them and wanted us to talk to a specific person, but wouldn't tell us that. He didn't limit what races people could choose from and then made it so certain party members stood out so much we couldn't get things done.
It was so frustrating because he had moments that were great, but those moments were all part of the narrative.
It would have been nice to have someone who explained everything so well and so patiently. Also, this cast is amazing! I love them all so much! They are so fun!

@@gappyconscience683 he was. He also picked the darkest storyline that was more advanced because he was used to playing, but I don't think he was used to being a DM. And we had a couple people in the group who didn't make it easy. I love playing with them as a player, but not so much as a DM.

Music producer Mark Ronson has, what he imagined was, the wildest Sunday banger it's possible to have. Tripping into a mystical portal, and getting isekaied to a world where that's a pretty typical event.
You're freestyling some Terry Pratchet Discworld or Stephen King Dark Tower shit for these adventurers, and it's a treat to watch.
In retrospect, I dunno that 'pulled into an arcane portal to another world where you are lost, scared, and promptly murdered and stuffed into a closet' would properly be described as an 'isekai' experience

Drag is living in a persona, and being able to turn it on quickly, and improvise, which isn't unlike roleplaying, so that's probably why they're all so comfortable in it 😁
