Listen one time I spent over $200 to ship a plant back home with me. 🤦🏻♀️ Her name is ShirLee SheLives. I can confirm she is still alive. She's a 5 foot tall Dracaena. I was at an Estate Sale in Colorado. The home was Mid-Century & she was just sitting in a indoor planter box. I asked if she was for sale & got her for $26. I stub my toe on her large planter & yell, "Damn it Shirley!" I talk to her like she's alive & decorate her for Holidays.
Good morning! What a fun haul! Regarding "She" - it is actually an "important" book in regards to women's history, in that it was a sci-fi portrayal of what would happen if women were allowed to run amok - meaning view themselves as equals. This was written the first time women were demanding voting rights and other rights. "She" refers to a "primative" woman discovered in the jungle, with no men to "civilize" her. Not surprisingly, there was a movie made of it in the 1960s, during similar cultural turmoil.

Swap meets tend to be different than flea markets. Swamp meets have more “new” stuff….socks, toys etc. along with produce, plants and some vintage. Although Rose Bowl Flea has both, they are in separate sections. I recommend the Long Beach Antique and Flea market….lots of goodness, no socks and toys, all vintage! And yes, prices can be $$$ but it depends on the vendor and the part of Cali you are in…uh $20? Too much! But there are still some great deals out there. It’s so funny to see the stadium. I went to rock concerts there as a teen when it was San Diego Sports Arena. Fun video!

California Native. Great haul and prices. What I find in California, vs east of California is that I have to search a little bit harder for vintage, but always worth it. Awesome swap meet...thanks Misty.

Great small haul! Love the glass birds, so pretty! Can't believe that guy wanted $20 for the smalls, ridiculous! I had trolls as a child(I'm 67); named one Cinnamon and the other one Sugar. Had a house I made for them out of a couple tissue boxes; made furniture for it and used carpet remnants for the 'floor'. Anyway, happy hunting! Love shopping with you and listening to your commentary as you talk to the dolls and figurines‼

Misty...I live in Montana, but visit my brother in SoCal. I buy small succulents at the OC Swap, put in ziplock bags and bring home in my carry-on! They arrive back home to MT just 🙂 fine!

Growing up in California, Swap Meets were at all of the drive in theaters on Weekends. It was a mix of everything old and new. It was a glorious time.
I never heard the term Flea Market until I moved east.

We call them swap meets in California. I'm so excited you are in my city! It was fun to see you with Danni too. All the new stuff is near the front, you need to go on the sides and back for the vintage. That guy is notorious for being super high priced! ( and rude) ridiculous! I have no idea how he makes any money. Everyone that was there when I was walked away. that green bird was beautiful. Lucite candle for $1 WOW! Hope you had a fabulous time!

I love a good flea market!! When broke my ankle I pushed a walker through the gravel so I could go. I did two rows and found some fun things. I was so proud of myself getting back to my life. That was two years ago. I get tuckered but I can do many more rows of booths.
Some swedish and norwegian items there. The red painted wooden horse is swedish, a traditional piece, and the jolly guy in the red hat is norwegian, a nisse, a Christmas decoration. :)
Since my daughter moved there from Washington state, for the year round sun, I love to visi often. Kobes is our place to go. She finds things she likes and i wheel and deal!

Most of our swap meets are open on the weekends. I live in northern California near Denio's swap meet and farmers market is. I love shopping and selling vintage there.
Some venders think just because it's vintage it's worth a lot of money so they end up hauling it around for months or until they have a dollar sale.
I scored a baby drowsy at a estate sale for 10 dollars and I was amazed she worked so awesome when I pulled her string. I got one for Christmas in 1975 my sister got baby beans.
We still plan on getting together often! ❤️

So wierd to see you at Kobey's Swap Meet! Glad you were able to find some treasures! Swapmeets aren't what they used to be. It used to be a bunch of garage sale stuff. Now it's a lot of pro vendors and people who know what they have and charge a lot.
You made me laugh when you said it is kinda cool today at 50. I had wind all of yesterday threw the night and part if this morn. With wind like I have never had before and it is negetive 12. Right now . I would love 50 .but do not fret because in now england by the end of the week it will hit 51 one thursday . And I would never move. Love Kobey's swap Meet!!! Debi from Debbies Design Diary owns a shop nearby, and frequents Kolby's Swap Meet! Fun, fun, fun!! What treasures you found!! Some are Flea Markets, some are Swap Meets! We have a Sunday Flea Market in a neighborhood called Fremont, here in Seattle every Sunday!! In summer there are more treasures you would like at Kobey's swap Meet!! Kobe is usually at the Swap Meet!!

I always think of auto kind of things when I hear the word swap meet back in the day like you know 40 years ago that’s how it was anyway, but it looks like you had fun and you’re a brave girl going around like that on your own.

I use to go to OC Fairground Swap Meet almost every weekend. It was a great place to buy produce, bagels and have Brautwurst and a beer all before 9am.
I have collected about 40 trolls, from the big ones, to the tiniest small ones. Some of them I have kept from my childhood, and from when my kids grew up. The naked ones I make clothes for. :D
At 2:20 when you pointed out peekachew (I've no idea how to spell that lol) I spotted the little pink guy. Was thinking how cute a sticker he was and then he stuck out his tongue! 😂👏 very unexpected.

Gahhh 20.00 is crazy! I hate where there are no prices in things. At least if some things are priced you would get an idea if they are high or low.
It was fun getting outside with you in the 'cool' 50's temperature, because it was one of our coldest nights yet here in Minnesota - around 20 below zero! High today in the single digits. And yes, the flowers were beautiful!

Hi, Misty, I think the doll was a Baby Dear doll by Eloise Wilkins 1960's. If it was they are valuable. I sold mine this last year for around $250.
From watching others in California, Swap meets are flea markets. Enjoy you. Maybe I’ll run into you sometime, I live in Muncie.
I would expect a swap meet to be a temporary set up - usually outdoors. A flea market is more permanent set up - although they might expand to the outside on weekends or something. So the terms are almost interchangeable but not exactly.

I think the doll that looked familiar was a thumbalina (sp) doll. Mine looks like that. Mine has a wooden type wheel that you wind and her head moves.
I’ve always heard swap meets being different than flea markets. Swap meets I usually associate with a lot of car parts and that kind of stuff. 🤷🏼♀️ because we also have lots of flea markets too, which is more of what this looks like. But maybe that’s just near me?

I freaking LOVED zoo pal plates, omg.
I kinda get the not liking stuff on the ground thing. It’s not very handicap/mobility friendly. Like my parents use a walker/cane and wouldn’t be able to bend down to get stuff from down on the ground, nor would somebody in a wheel chair. Even me with knee and shoulder/back issues, it’s kinda rough. Idk, maybe it’s just me but I find it inconvenient. 🤷🏼♀️

I remember a book my parents had ...It's a damper dam world full of the trolls. Inhad no idea that these were a brand name for the trolls. I wish I had the book today. It's always disappointing to take the time to make a little pile of stuff and have them quote really high. I sometimes will do a test price before I take the time. Those littles were so fun. It's a shame.

Thrifter in California here. Prices are very high both at fleas and estate sales. Merch is scarce. Nothing Like back east. I always say if you live in Pennsylvania to New Jersey and arn't making 6 figures you'r doing something wrong.
