Very interesting. And quantitative. I like that. 😁 As for my own reading speed: Reading is a very important relaxation and escape for me -- even if I'm reading the latest issue of "Science" or "Nature." I read at whatever pace is comfortable for the material, and at least at prestnt, I just don't want to worry about it beyond that. Things might be different in a different "phase of life." 🤷♂️ Hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas!
@@BryanM.R.-prionic1 I know these kinds of videos might portray some impression of competitiveness but it is probably more accurate to describe as curiosity. I read at a pretty steady and standard rate, of which I do not think is relatively fast. I just wanted to see how my rate compares to that of the audible narrators. I imagine everyone reads at a pace faster than the narrators. I would venture to guess most people are 1.5x and up.
@@TriumphalReads I’m glad you liked it!! In fact, this is really encouraging because this is the sort of stuff I like to do but never know if and how it might land.
I'm not a math guy, so I won't be conducting this experiment. BUT I did find it fascinating, and I'm glad that you did it. Thanks for getting to the bottom of this!
My quick and dirty number I use for audio length vs page count is 3hrs=100 pages. Just using the 5 most recent audiobooks I got. One of us Knows by Alyssa Cole 10h14m 352pages Someone you can build a Best In by John Wiswell 9h36m 320 pages Love without Limits by Harper Bliss 5h13m 214 pages North is the Night by Emily Rath 17hrs54m 592 pages Elana Knows by Claudia Cravens 5h20m 173 pages Just looking at those what sticks out to me is "one of us knows" and "Elina kmows" are the 2 pcyhological/heavier ones, and are the slowest. The pure romance "Love without limits" is fastest And the fantasy "north is the night" and horror romance "someone you can build a nest in" are in the middle. That's a weird set of books to compare but interesting! Ps One of Us Knows is a DID thriller and I'll let you know how it goes.
That's impressive speed! What did you think of orphan x?

This was probably the most scientific booktube video I've seen, which is a good thing haha. Enjoyed this trial and your thoughts, new sub for sure
