I'm just going through this now. Bloody inconvenient after a few weeks back the headgasket going. Anyway I've had the ELV counter reset but the warning lights were still on. Long story short left the car a few hours and went back to it to move it and the same thing happened in that it wouldn't start. Managed to borrow a snapon tool and cleared the ELV, drove it around the block and parked up. Next morning not expecting it to start it did! Left it a shorter time period before it's next use and then it failed to start again! I've ordered ISTA off of eBay and I think I have a lead somewhere to go usb to obd3 so will try this. Hoping it's not a broken CAS unit or steering column.
Mr Watton l replaced my BMW's water damaged computer box with a lock-set from an automatic transmission. The car starts very well. The issues l am having is the steering wheel doesn't unlock and the radiator fan keeps on running without shutting off. There's no steering lock icon on the dashboard.
Hi, I am writing to you hoping to receive your precious help. I replaced the license plate lights (I have all led lights) with new ones, always led. Unfortunately the car had some sort of blockage of the control unit, and now the windows do not work, the direction arrows and the headlights remain on (even if off from the selector). Is there anything I can do with this procedure in the video, to fix the problem? (I changed the battery, but the problem remains). A greeting
Hi Davide. Sounds like it’s killed the FRM. This module controls everything you have mentioned and can be affected from just replacing bulbs with LED versions. Only way forward is to replace it with either a new one, or a 2nd hand one. Either way, new or used, it will need coding into the car but not in the same way as discussed in this video I’m afraid. Make sure you fit the standard bulbs back in before replacing the module just incase there is an issue with the bulbs you have used.
Hi. Yes issue is now resolved. I found that the ABS module ended up faulty after replacing the battery. After I replaced the ABS module I reset the steering module again and it’s never come on again since.
The software I used was ISTA+ and can be found by searching using googles. Searching the term Rheingold also helps ;) You also need an OBDII to USB cable.
