    Welcome back to Japan.
    I live in Tokyo.
I always go to Nara once a year to see the exhibition of 1700 year old treasures called "Shosoin Exhibition" at the Nara National Museum.
When I go, I always eat at the sushi restaurant you mentioned.
Unfortunately, unlike Kyoto, there aren't many places to eat.
I think your choice of sushi restaurant is not bad.
    Please enjoy Japan.

Phoebe: what a great new friend you made in Nara! That was a fantastic intro and way to maintain your cool and say "up close with the locals" just as she was getting up close with you. 😆
    * Kinda reminded of the opening you did for the Lone Pine Sanctuary ... still my favorite "Subscribe!" comments you ever made. Animals are a bit unpredictable; what a great opening moment for the vlog.
    * From our limited travel experience, getting to a touristy destination early in the morning usually works out, and you proved it. Beat the crowds, chaos and heat (was it hot when you were there? Saw some locals with umbrellas, so just curious).
    * Aw, no "Fibi Day." (I still wear my Fibi shirt a lot--so comfortable--but haven't been asked about it since that first time.)
    * Damn...Todai-ji Temple looked really beautiful. But, I do understand, I guess, the rules about limiting cameras and equipment. Again, getting there early--no crowds!
    * So, bummer, instead you got to walk around and enjoy what is clearly a sweet Japanese town. While we like the idea of going to the busy cities, Nara is more our speed and the images you showed really made the town attractive.
    * And on that note, what a great suggestion to use Nara as your base to visit the big cities nearby. That's a great idea, especially given Japan's great public transportation, as you describe later.
    * Learned this from you--always consider your hotel's location. Access to public transportation and sites such as tourist destinations, places to eat, or markets is critical.
    * What luck! Again...get to places early and you really benefit. Admire your ability to eat just one of the Mochi. Not sure I would have that kind of willpower (we love love love Mochi...especially Erin).
    * I understand hitting up a Starbucks (you know what you're gonna get), but the local coffee shop looks so much better.
    * "Cutest thing you've ever seen in your life." Well done! 🤣 Glad you left that in!
    * We've found so many amazing food spots just "walking around" like you did (I still can recall great places in Auckland we discovered just by walking around town).
    * Erin is a huge fan of eel; you made her quite jealous.
    * Way to set up the 7-11 food! 🤣🤣
    * Your sparkle while eating your gourmet, 5-star, Michelin rated dinner (🤣) is almost blinding. You made it in such a way that it felt like we were with you and laughing along with you at dinner.
    * On that note: honestly, you're getting better and better at creating a "feel" of the viewer being right there with you on your journeys. You film while walking, but you do it from the side which makes the viewer feel like they're walking with you (rather than most people who shoot straight ahead, which can make the viewer feel like they're unnaturally walking backwards). But while you are enjoying local drinks, snacks, and meals, the camera is then directly across from you, just like a friend would be doing if they were there sitting across from you. It's a great technique that you have perfected. Many other try to do it, but you capture it perfectly.
    * Second dessert! Oh, and we don't have to be your sister to know that you're a bit picky when it comes to candy--we've seen it, too (but, I expect, not to her levels of experience!😆). My problem is not being fussy enough (I miss Aussie and NZ chocolate so much!)
    * What a fantastic vlog on a one day trip to a great Japanese destination. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the constant smiles, laughs, and good time! Feels like we spent a great day with a good friend and an awesome place. Looking forward to doing it again next week.
    Rob&Erin
PS: I have to thank you for inspiring me--after watching your vlog from the Philippines awhile back, I really wanted to get back to into Scuba. So, last week I finally did it! I went diving off the coast of Palm Beach, Florida and this week we're heading to Jamaica where I'll do some more diving! Thank you for putting that bug back in my ear. I was beyond happy getting under the waves for the first time in over 20 years. Thank you! ☺

    • @travelforphoebe
      @travelforphoebe  Месяц назад

Wowww I'm sooo happy you got back into Scuba! I can only imagine how beautiful it was to get back in the water again and do it in such a gorgeous location :)
I really enjoyed your thoughts on filming from the side/across from me when eating. You're spot on! I never really thought about that though - I just do it because that's where a human would be and how I would talk to them haha But, you're so right! It is more natural for you guys. Whenever I'm filming/talking to the camera like that I really do feel you all on the other side of the camera. It's as though the camera embodies all of you! So funny :)
Thanks for another wonderful Rob's Review and all the support as always! Sounds like you need to take Erin out for some delicious Unagi asap!! P x
