I have my finals coming up and I just got glued to this channel. How did I get here? This girl's story is a fairytale. A New York girl relocates to the land of her ancestors, makes a home of it, finds love, gets married...Just too beautiful to be real.. She is an amazing human being. To think that I still find it very difficult to use a pit latrine (the type in her in-law's) and I was born and raised in Africa, yet she had no qualms with it! I would nominate this lady for the Nobel Prize or something.. I wish you all the best and all the happiness that life has to offer as you begin your life as a married woman. You have a heart of gold.

I was literally in tears watching this. The Africans were singing in a language not understood but it just shows where we get our spirituality from. The tone reminded me of the old school church songs. Yes, those Africans brought with them their spirituality and it is very evident in black/African Americans. I'm 51 years old with lots of years lost and thereby could not uproot myself to live my last days in another continent but it gives me great joy to see my younger generation stepping out on faith. Thank you for sharing your experience. I gives me a birdseye view of your experience and it sort of allows me to live Africa through your eyes. You have a beautiful family and thanks for taking out time to share your experiences with your African American family here in the US. One question, do you ever become home sick and do you feel lonely at times? I would probably spend lots of time crying because of missing family and friends. It would be a hard adjustment for me.

Namibia is next door to South Africa and yet my Xhosa culture is so different in how we do wedding. Yes we have music and dance and drinking but our ceremonies are different and the dress completely different. The ululating is the same and I will want that for my daughter's wedding. AfroAmericaninAfrica may God continue to bless your marriage. There is 3 cords and never allow the one that God holds to be broken. He will keep it together. By the way I love your story. I feel like an orphan in a foreign land here in America and I keep praying that God will bring me home. I am happy for you, but sad for me until I get there. Many AA are afraid because we are stuck in the custom/traditions of a godless America and we believe that we belong here, BUT we don't. Many of us are so displaced in despair because we are not in our homeland where we belong. Keep smiling and putting those inspirational and encouraging videos out about beautiful Africa. Love my ppls! 😘
