For everyone watching, if you love your HR-V do not ever use aftermarket coolant, always use Honda coolant. Honda's are really picky when it comes to this. They are designed for one type only and the two are not compatible. I have 4 Honda's from 2003 to 2024 (two Accord's and two HR-V's) and they all use the blue Honda coolant and have since they were brand new. None of them have ever had any cooling issues. (I'm here because I need to remove the bumper to replace UV damaged headlights.)
The reason is because of what these types are made of. Green coolants typically contain phosphates and silicates, which is referred to as Inorganic Additive Technology (IAT). When mixing this with Honda coolant, which is an Organic Additive Technology (OAT) type, chemical reactions can occur and lead to sludge deposits, advanced corrosion, engine damage, and radiator failure as we see here. Coolant may seem like a simple thing, but it is critical in a Honda that you use the correct type.
Maybe fully flushing the system first will prevent this but the change intervals will be different. Honda recommends 5-10 years or 75,000 miles for their blue (I still do every 2 years), while the green types usually need changed every 2 years or 30,000 miles. If you go beyond this following the Honda guidelines meant for their coolant, the green type will quickly degrade.
EDIT: I do not work for Honda and yes I hate it that their coolant is more expensive, but I figure a little more money spent now, will save a lot more in the future.

Is it necessary to replace the water sensor on the rad. with a new one?

No. If the old one is working then just reuse it.

Thanks for the video. Can the radiator fans be serviced if not working?

Jabo, perhaps you should have drained the engine block as well, it is not a good idea to mix coolants. There is a threaded plug on the block on the right side and below the exhaust manifold. By only draining the radiator, you left about 50% of the coolant mix in the car ...
