Hi Trent, DocChuck again....I have a new student...and your videos are her homework assignments....She's in a wheelchair most of the summer...but never quits. Thanks so much.....one more operation and I should be cleared to drive...been back at the forge for a few weeks now....Hopefully, I'll see ya' up at Sofa Quadstate if you are coming.
I gotta tell ya. I may be from Maine .. but I love the way you explain things. I've watched so many other smiths on the RUclips and a lot of them are really good smiths.. but there's something about your style that makes me comfortable. I like your shop arrangement also. I like how you talk about what to make that sells. I've been doubting myself a lot lately as a smith. maybe it's because the material I've been forging is big enough for a power hammer and too much on my body. I'm not sure. But watching what you make (that sells) using smaller material inspires me to keep forging. just can't afford more material now. eh. anyway... thanks a lot!
Boy, you know this is old. He's skinny. Maybe he shouldn't have made spoons, forks and knifes. Could have left those alone! lol just fun in. This guys a complete how to book on black smithing. Worth every minute
I made a spoon today. It is for my borax so it need not be pretty. It is a good thing too because it is ugliest thing I have made. Considering the only things I have made so far are a coal rake and a spoon that isn't too bad.
You need to learn how to shoe a horse and make your own horshoes and tools, then compete in WCB were the best blacksmiths in the world, the only true blacksmith is good at makeing horse shoes
Got back from a 4 month festival and then gave the shop a huge makeover. Building stock for October but plan to =try= and film some more in 2 weeks. The heat is really bad right now.
@@purgatoryironworks And it's now 2020 and the yak is still strong!😂😂 I caught this one because it came up after the video 4 of casting bronze. I'm glad it did, I'm looking forward to putting some of your teachin' into practice so I can get to the learnin'.
Still one of the best videos on this channel! I love the focus on presentation in front of a crowd.
You are so thorough with your explanations -- unbeatable!
My medical school mentor told me those exact words that Mr. Riekert told you...Brought back some awesome memories.
What a GREAT video. I'm about to go to my first event in a few weeks and I'm definitely going to add this to my list. Thanks!
When asked if I shoe horses I respond, "Yes. Every time one gets too close I say "Shoo. Get away.""

Good one. thanks, man...
50 bucks ?! Take my money 💰
What size
I was just thinking of forging a spoon today
been beating steel on an anvil since I can't remember but never heard about no "show"
I wish I had a dollar for every time I've got a phone call from folks asking "how much you charge to come shoe ma horse?" LOL
Maybe a skill you should learn? There seems to be a demand.
Nice channel Bro I subbed ya
You are a good man. Got a few hundred thousand buddies that might sub as well? :)
hell yeah! spoons!
I always gave my stuff away to the kids watching. it's about the craft, not the cash.

wheres the cat
Gah the audio!
Unfortunately filmed with a potato back in the day!
purgatoryironworks Should've forged a better camera. heh

That is not true. A blacksmith is one who uses fire to shape and forge iron and steel. The word you are looking for is farrier.
Skip, that kind of talk can get you murdered :)
purgatoryironworks HE"S BACK!!!!! When are we going to get more videos?

I know about heat. I am not too far from you. I'm up in TN.
Constructive feedback,
You talk to much. Get to the demonstrations.
I enjoy talking.
