Every person like me who never had a teacher have to admit that Marty is always there for us.... :D
Thanks for the comment Souvik!
i even have a teacher but Marty is just better
Wanna say I’m self taught but Marty taught me lol
He is our teacher. He has millions of students around the world.
Always
I never understood him as an absolute beginner but now that I’m better I really like this guy he’s probably the best online guitar teacher
Agreed
@@History_doodle It's such a rewarding feeling when it eventually clicks and you manage to figure out what he's talking about. The hardest part about learning through videos is not being able to ask questions (which has caused me to infer the information wrongly, causing me to go off on incorrect tangents), but when you have those little epiphanies where things fall into place, it's like your own little Archimedes' "eureka" moment.
The fact I both watch Marty and have a private tutor leads me to sometimes start trying to ask Marty questions
Very funny how the part 1 has 130,000 views.. then part 2 is at 40,000.
Scott Rynearson people only want the intro chords because that's the most iconic part of the song but I'd rather learn the whole thing because it can keep me playing for 8 minutes without getting bored
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on
i think some people can listen and know what order the notes come in
J C I think it is more likely that the drop down is that this is a lot of song, and going to the next level takes more dedication
Me: Realizes there's a part 3
Also Me: It's too late to turn back
Future Me: Good job past Me for persevering
Past Me: Your welcome
Future Me Again: No problem
Me: :)
Huh?
Future you: realizes there’s a part 4
schizophrenia
Interesting dialogue
very cool ian
Marty is the best online teacher ever!!!!!!!!!!!! Who doesn't like Marty?????
If I like Marty, then do I click 'like' or 'unlike' to the question, "Who doesn't like Marty???"
Chris Thompson are you saying that you dislike Marty?
@@tougerunss8241 are you reading the thread or simply typing knee jerk reactions?
It's the double negatives I was joking about.

Amazing how the likes dropped from 30k in the first part to 6k in the second. Kudos to everyone who has reached this point. And I hope that you complete all the 4 parts and finally complete this song.
113k-40k-28k-17k only 17k survived
ha ha ha!
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on
Can't believe the first video has 5.3 million views yet the part 2 only has 800k . Come on people, consistency 😂🤦🏽.
I couldn't find this part. Until recently it was shown to me in a suggested video 😂
"So the intro's done, now the rest of the song..."
......
When I first heard that song, I thought that some angels make music. After knowing a little bit about music theory and playing a couple of years guitar. I realized the most beautiful music pieces are not so hard to play, because the focus lies on the feeling, the chord transiston, the story that is tellled with the song. It's not about super complex playing, more to touch people's heart without using words, that's the most beautiful thing in music.
miki0906: "to touch people's heart without using words, that's the most beautiful thing in music." best. quote. yet!
At 75 Marty I may be one of your oldest students... But you make it easy for me even at my age... Kudos my Brother and thank you...
What happened to your old one? Great vid I made my dad proud with this jam I'm playing this at a funeral in the next week so wish me luck
Good luck
how did you do?
howd you do?
YEA how'd ya do?
TheConTraDemOn it was his funeral
Thank you Marty. I'm a beginner and have been watching a lot of your vids. You are a good teacher. I like the way you simplify things. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
I love how people flood the first part hit barley hit the second part to get the rest of the song
I can play this now
Marty is the man!
Fantastic, Perfect teacher i'm getting better everyday. learning soooo much absolute Legend.
The feeling when i haven't been playing for some weeks, is a selfe learned beginner and have just fall in love with Marty teach me. Can say that feeling really is located in my fingertips 😂😅 want be playing for 3 days😜 thanks Marty, you really breake it understandable down ❤️
You are the best teacher, no joke.
New subscriber - 63 years old - and loving your lessons bro. Just got a new 12 string and never thought I'd learn Stairway to Heaven LOL! Still working on it but getting better each day. You break things down very nicely. Just wishing for longer fingers. Thank you very much and keep up the fine lessons. Very nice Taylor by the way!
I appreciate the comment Robert! Thanks for following my new project here "MartyMusic!"

@@dumbhanded6419 why, the person is tryin, so just leave them have their fun, and even if they are just some 15 year old, it dont matter, guitar is supposed to be for fun
Yeah, my fingers also a little short for some of those chord shapes.
Hey Marty -
Kudos for your care in preparing your material. I've been a music teacher for 17 years and if I'm preparing a new part for a student, I'll often check your interpretation along with the recording. Not only have you saved me legwork in laying out my basic tab, but sometimes you hear stuff even I don't. On this tune for example I always thought of the final chord as Am so it would not even have occurred to me, with the thick keyboard (flute) parts over it, to listen to the subtle difference for the Fmaj7.
Great work and thanks. I just subscribed.
Thanks so much Sandy!
I'm from Syria and I play Oud, trying to play this on my oud right now , I'm buying my first guitar tomorrow it's been a long dream of mine to play the guitar and I'm finally doing it! thanks for the tutorial
Absolutely brilliant. I've been noodling for weeks, being pretty unproductive. Thought I should go learn some classics. Had this intro down in 10 minutes and I'm pretty useless at guitar. Really great material, Marty. Thanks.
That hammering it on the A minor is a tough one 😥
trust me its not even that bad .
to me neither of the parts are hard by themselves but stringed together with smooth transitions is very hard. especially that slide after finishing the first part of the intro and then immediately barring at the 5th fret without touching the A string... waaaay too hard to do consistently while also sounding good.
Mr Marty you are such a nice guy, thanks you are keep rolling this!! subscribe and many likes...come on people help this man to help us!!
Thank you Marty. Bless.
I'm glad u broke this one into multiple videos and u explain everything so well haven't learnt the hole song yet but thx to u I will soon
I really appreciate that Hassan! Thanks so much for supporting my new venture here "MartyMusic!"
Nice Guitar!!!
Hey Antonio! I really appreciate you supporting my new thing "MartyMusic" right here! Thanks again!
Great Marty, so clear, everybody can learn this with your lessons. Thank you very much from Venice.
Marty I subscribed because you're my go to guy for Zeppelin songs, may I request a Fool in the Rain tutorial?
yesssss one of my favourite Led Zepplin songs man! Thumbs up to this!
This series of videos should be named: how to learn stairway to heaven in a week for newbie
InfinitWorld or 2 days like i did :)
@@liljeep5293 I could play it after 2 hours :)
About 1h for me, but I'm six months in and used to barre chords.
Oh yea well I did it in 2 minutes so beat that losers
omg ur a legend buddy ....so clear about the way u teach iv learnt a few off u now tbh wen I type in how to learn a track I personally look for ur videos ....thanks for doing em
Thanks so much for the comment Dan! Thanks for supporting me here at "MartyMusic" all my best!
this has to be the best break down of this song the walk up was where I was struggling at the most thank you grand master marty!!!!!!!! p.s. when ya gonna do the rain song?
I would love to Troy! Thanks for supporting me right here at MartyMusic buddy!
God Marty your numbing my fingers with all these replaying sections 😂😂 but worth it
can you please teach The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin?
I just looked up the rain son, it's in a weird tuning. Different turnings has been something I haven't explored yet. I should start using them.
KnowledgeIsKey215 the different tuning allows the open chords to be played up and down the and it allows the band to bloom and with a string accompiant . It’ s a ballad and it’ tremendous
if you plan to learn songs from Jimmy Page. Yes, Open tuning's are essential G/D/C/A
Hey Marty, loving the new-ish channel! You have no idea how much I've been struggling with this song, like a previous guitar teacher quit on me it was so bad. I finally have the intro down!
Almost every time I search this song I always come to Marty because I've learned so many songs from him and I'm always able to keep up and learn how to work my way up to harder things like solos.... thx Marty :]
Thankgod there is a fingerpicking lesson for it, i was getting so desperate during the 1st leason, i was like bro the lesson is almost over when learn fingerpik?
Marty, I know I’m just another follower, but you have taught me so much through “You-Tube.” I have advanced from Chords (G,C,A,E,D major/minor), barre-chords, now notes and riffs. You are a huge blessing man! Thank you for giving yourself away!
This is such a great lesson 👍
Thanks a lot Marty!
Wow this is a masterpiece
Hey, Marty. Is it okay for me to use the normal D chord instead of the bar chord in the first verse? Just to keep things simple.
Thank you Marty for such a wonderful lesson. I'm an absolute beginner. Playing guitar since 3 months and I can't believe I can play such an iconic song. You are a godsend. Love from India.
My fingers are suffering because of my high action no-truss-rod guitar. Hopefully I can buy a new one soon, playing this junk is not fun anymore :(
Best guitar teacher on the Internets. Shows all the tricky parts carefully and narratively, doesn't rush through anything and knows how to teach. Hats off Marty!
13:38 Just marking my spot :)
Yousician should really stop with their ads
Thanks for all of the Lessons man. Sincerely changed my game. Learning like crazy, even as old as I am (3-4 Grays), Making the transition from percussionist to Rhythm guitar over last 8 months and as my own worst/best critic, I am doing exceptional thanks to your in depth tutorials (Huge Thanks!). I have a request, if you please.... as a product of the 80's(my hay day)I have always been and still a Zepp/J.Page fan (since 1st grade), and wanted to know if you could do a lesson on one of my favorite Masterpieces from Jimmy Page and The Firm... "Midnight Moonlight". I have been looking high and low for even just chords and have only stumbled upon an intro and a few vague tabs... Seems no one has the gumption to tackle this amazing piece of art created by some the greatest musicians/artists' on the planet.?? If you can make it happen, Thanks man (in advance) I have faith in ya. . (I have one more that I also consider a masterpiece that I would like to request, but first things first. ) Keep up the much appreciated works Mr. Marty. Rock&Roll. Peace -Scotty B
I didn't find this video in any Playlist relatet to this song. Now after i tried to look at your picking in the first video i don't need this video....
10:00 just marking where I am
it's so tough... thanks for explaining.. it will take me ages to play this properly :(
same
To those nerdy enough to wonder, Am is spelled A-C-E. Fmaj7 is F-A-C-E. It actually contains a whole Am chord note for note, so the difference is subtle. Here the effect is to give a less certain resolution that feels slightly ethereal. I like Marty's little hammer there as well. Thanks again, Marty!
some people claim to hate stairway because it's so overplayed. but they'll just have to FACE the music - it's a masterpiece!
(i'll let myself out)
Marty Music is like Khan Academy for guitar. You are my go-to guy for learning new songs!
Only Marty can break things down to the point i actually understand😂 Thank You!!!

Marty is the best online teacher ever!!!!!!!!!!!! Who doesn't like Marty?????
Everytime I want to lear a new song, I think of this guy, he is amazing!
You don't need that much of a recap of part 1.
Master of Reality he shows you the picking pattern on the strings
15:50 play through
16:42 slow playthrough
Could you decrypt Planet Caravan (solo) in your upcoming videos??
Amazing tutorials, you explain it perfectly! Thank you
I really appreciate the comment ! All my best!
really struggling with the silencing of strings when im doing bar notes. any tips?
I really struggled with this song months ago. I never played rhythmic reggae or music with bar chords. Learn say it ain’t so it’ll help so much with bar chords then come back to this and it’ll be a breeze
And if you have electric learn on that first
that´s my favorite song and it´s so nice and easy to learn it in your tutorial!
good work man!!
1:48 still dre?
Shout out to all the soldiers here watching pt 2 🍻
pfft i haven't been able to play the guitar for 8 months due to school and now i feel like i have chosen a tough restarting point. but still, i am glad to have begun again, thanks marty :)
Question Sifu... Which guitar do you like playing better? Your Martin or this Taylor here? I have a Martin and I love them, they're my favorite guitars. I never played a Taylor or a PRS and I was wondering what you thought Marty. So what's your take on the Marty Martin and Marty Taylor??
Taylor's really do play the "easiest" and are the best for plugging in live. I will always love my vintage Martin the most though.
Wow, you mean the action related play-ability is better than the Marty Martin? I noticed the Taylors sound more tingy or tinny as opposed to Martins sounding more rich, warm, deep, etc. My D15 is so easy to play you can literally hit the strings with a light breath toward the fret board and it sounds a note!
Thanks for the reply Marty... I'm your biggest fan/student in Philly for sure!
Hold on... and I’m not trash talking. But This isn’t even a part 2. You covered nothing new from the original video. You say to go back to the original before this video , yet you cover nothing new in this video? Literally it’s the same exact material as the first video. Why is nobody talking about this?
I'm a huge fan for almost a year now. Just getting enough chops to tackle this one. The very last F isn't explained very well....are all four strings being strummed? I get the ring finger lift off. I have it down except that very last note....makin me crazy!
Yeah I just subscribed. I'm a professional musician with a master's in music. Mostly cello, piano, and only a little guitar. Thanks for spelling this out. It made the song so easily to learn 😀
Hey man, i like your style to play a guitar, may i request how to play "Steelheart - She's gone please?
febrian ramadhan request on his newest vid
When I was 16 (1970) I bought an acoustic guitar from my mum's mail order catalogue. Then I bought a Simon & Garfunkel song book. But I couldn't read music. So I was stuffed. In 2010 (aged 56) I enrolled in a "learn basic guitar" evening class. Thanks to Ian (the teacher) I picked up basic chords and have learned to play many songs. Albeit, some of my efforts are a bit ropey ; others passable (Evidence my RUclips channel;) The evening class led me to RUclips and to Marty S. (and his remote friend Justin S.) A very big thanks to both for sharing their skills online.
Struggling a bit with the partial barres at the beginning of the riff, the rest comes fairly easy but I’m getting lots of buzz or dead notes on the first A chord. Any tips? 😢

Congratulations for your patience, thank you very much! keep teaching :)
I really appreciate that very much! Thanks so much for supporting me right here at "MartyMusic" loukasp96!!!
I love the hell out of Marty... I wish I could have the chance to have a one on one but it honestly feels like I am watching his videos.... thank you so much Marty I went from rapper to guitar and singing and rapping
Thanks for all the lessons Marty... great job. I've been playing "my version" of this and so many songs for decades but you show me what little nuances I've missed (low F# in the D major chord for example...) Love watching your lessons.
Omg u deserve way more subs bro!!! I am twelve yrs old and thx to u i can fingerpick!! Whenever, I pick up my guitar, I always search up of ur your tutorials!! Thx man if. There was a contest for best youtube guitarist, I would vote for u anytime!!! Ur the best!!!
