First, WHAT IS ACTUALLY THAT FREAKIN "WoWiE zOwiE"? Second, I have never heard Nabbit's voice.
The way you explained the rushed development of Luigi U and the way they made Nabbit playable, it makes me think it might have been better and easier to just have a third Toad. At least then 4 player would be a lot more even.
yes I've thought about that exact thing, I guess they *really* wanted an easy mode character because of how difficult Luigi U's levels are

I pretty sure they were considering a third toad but Tezuka or Miyamoto found it confusing so they decided against it
@@fireyfrego76 What's so confusing about having a third Toad if having just 2 isn't? Honestly the more I think about it, the more I wish we got a third Toad (green maybe) and just had Nabbit as an easy mode option.

They’ve been kinda underutilized lately (more so than Green Toads, I’d say), it wouldn’t interfere with Luigi’s color at all, the devs already ended up deciding on a Purple character. Even ‘it was the Year of Luigi at the time of NSLU, so why not go green’ isn’t the strongest counterpoint, since Dr. Luigi still had a Yellow virus when the other two were changed from medium Blue and Red to Cyan and Pink.

well yeah I suppose that's the "lore" reason, I'm talking about game design / development here, they wouldn't implement it like that just because of him having a bag

In nsmb u after beating a level with nabbit pulls the power ups you collect out of the bag and it turns into 1 ups
I mean I guess I can’t blame him.
Only god knows how valuable the Mario Wonder Power Ups will be depending on wether or not they will return for the next game.
thats what he did in NSMBU Deluxe, no? He put them in his bag and converted them to one ups at the end

I like to imagine Nabbit selling all the power-ups he stole on the Mushroom Kingdom black market after Mario Wonder.
I mean, how else do you think the blocks get the items? Because Bowser sure isn't pulling punches towards the Bros-

Love how Nabbit who was initially an afterthought character with bare minimum care to put into him, now became the only character that was done very deliberately seeing how there's no other character with similar body traits as him in Wonder. Meaning all the animation, rig and model were done solely for him and him only.
(As opposed to the rest of the cast, wherein they share/repurpose traits to at least one other character with similar model and animations as them. Example: Mario and Luigi, Peach and Daisy, the Toads and Toadette, and finally the Yoshis.
Here, Nabbit is the only one who is truly unique when it comes to model and animation design.)

I love the concept that luigis the only friend of this retired Bowser mercenary that goes on adventures with him to give him a hand because hes better at survival than the others

I think the reason his inability to use power-ups persists in wonder is because the trade-off of playing the baby mode character is that you don't get to use power-ups. Seems pretty fair to me.
I think it would be cool to see Nabbit as an actual playable character who can take damage and use power ups in a future Mario game. Rather than being a walking easy mode.
Maybe he should have his own game, it might be a risk but it could be interesting

There are in-universe reasons. Yoshis have been consistently shown to be unable to use items (except superstars, which seem applicable to anyone), so Nabbit could be like them, meaning he’s some special species.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 had items exclusive to Yoshi
Yea it makes sense with the Toshiba, because in most games Yoga-Go is rideable but you never see him actually die. Besides getting ditched and falling in pits, which is one of the only ways to die as Toshiba in wonder.

Nabbit is still holding his bag in super Mario Bros wonder, his original character was that he would steal power ups and presumably sell them on the black market
@@hunterneitzel3012 Unlike in NSLU and NSMBUDX, Nabbit doesn’t make 1-Ups at the end of a level out of collected power-ups. I don’t even know if he and the yoshies can collect power-ups (it’s been 2 months). If they can’t, then they just can’t use them (but the yoshies can use their tongues to pick them up). Anyway, Nabbit actually just collects them in what is presumably his house in the NSMBU/NSLU/NSMBUDX map.
I would of loved to see an elephant Nabbit lol.
Kind of a shame that Nabbit can’t use power-ups due to rushed development, but at least he has (or had) unique characteristics.
They decided to instead make it canon that he is actually stealing the powerups and storying them in his bag, hence the points

I think he can’t use items based on the fact that HES ALREADY INVINCIBLE
Then just make him take damage, We don’t need easy mode characters when they can easily make a separate mode for that or bring in the op power-up that only appears after a certain amount of deaths

He's not invincibile Is Just that the game says Nabbit Is not a Hero and not a bad guy he's Just there
The developers may have also withheld these power-ups to make the other characters look more appealing by comparison.
They didn't seem to want to give a rewards penalty for making the game easier, but they would still want to make it enticing to play the game normally too.
The appeal gets especially stronger if you're playing Nabbit and see online ghosts using those power-ups.

that reminds me of luigi’s origin story, where they had no more memory to spare so they threw a shellcreeper’s textures onto jumpman
I'm pretty sure that he can hold items in NSMBUD, and he also swim differently in that game
Nabbit's design is awsome. I would play as him if he wasn't easy mode. I'm glad he's sticking around and hope he gets a spinoff someday. Maybe a stealth platformer where you steal from other mario characters, and your scored by how much you steal and how fast you steal, and lose points by getting caught.
They probably do have plans for him in the future or else they wouldnt have included him in Wonder.

Nabbit’s inability to use power ups, at least from my perspective, is the devs’ subtle shove that separates the easy characters from the normal ones. It might be easier as nabbit, but not as fun. And it makes you feel like you’re cheating playing them
I used them on the final final level and it still was hard as hell so I didn’t really feel like a cheater lol

The reason is because Elephant Nabbit would be too cursed.
Well each power up Nabbit grabs becomes a 1-up when he completes a level
Honestly if they made any collected powerups add to the coin count it would make him a interesting character to play because you are able to get lives easier at the cost of powerups
That’s kinda what he does, at the end of every level every Powerup will count as 1 1-up
it could also mean his just another character in a different story... interesting how they just brought this up without a reason.
I like that he can't use power-ups from a lore perspective. He is so greedy that he would rather hoard the items than use them on himself, even at the cost of his own life. How bold, how reckless, how... Nabbit!
I thought the reason was that it's a trade-off. Yeah, you're invincible, but because of that you don't get to have fun with the power ups.

lets be real, the reason that nabbit can't use power ups is cause the designers couldn't handle the sheer power and sensuality in an elephant nabbit

i always thought it was because nabbit was a horder. Like he wants to save the items for later use, but later never happens.
I hate that Nabbit is treated that way because he has such an interesting character design and I wish I could play him with the same challenge level
It’s also a good way to motivate players to challenge themselves by not picking the easiest difficulty
He can't because he is mfkng invincible
One thing to note about nabbit is that he does not get knocked back or stunned like Yoshi upon hitting an enemy.

ive been playing a nabbits only run. when ive done all the levels i will post my findings of which lvls i found it impossible to 100% (as well as maybe a bonus if i have time of the levels that were actually possible but made harder)
I mean, he’s probably the reason those traits exist, but the Yoshi’s also can’t use power ups in this case. It’s likely they stemmed from the Nabbit use in Mario Bros U though, I wouldn’t be surprised. It also makes it easier if you’re playing with little siblings lol

The real question is, why cant the yoshis use power ups? He was able to in galaxy 2 and had a 'power up equivalent' in world. I guess i understand that its "easy mode" and having power ups would make nabbit unfair and not having 4 or more "easy" characters would also be unfair for 4 player, but still, Yoshi was, and still should be, perfectly capable of using power ups.

FUN FACT: in New super Mario Bros U deluxe, you can actually get live by collecting power-ups
It could also be that they made it so he can't use power-ups because he is already invincible and this gives u more incentive to git gud and use the real characters

I always felt that the reason story-wise of why Nabbit can not transform is because he puts the power-ups in his bag. He "nabs" them, if you may.

The reason he can't use power-ups is because the amount of power-ups he gets without dying turn to 1-ups at the end of the level (at least in NSMBU & NSMBUDX)

I always thought the whole point of Nabbitt was to steal your powerups and put them in his bag if you don’t pick them up before he gets to them, so if that’s the case he doesn’t use powerups because he is just kleptomaniacally hoarding them in his sack instead of actually using them
I'm fine with nabbit being easy mode but doing that to yoshi is a crime
To be fair, you never really see Yoshi die to an enemy in the older games, he just bucks you off and runs away instead, Yoshi really only dies when you jump off of him while over a bottomless pit. Even in the Yoshi's island games, Yoshi doesn't really die to enemies.
Maybe that was the reason in luigi U, it stayed in wonder because its a trade-off. You get an easier experience but if you want to use power ups you switch to a harder character

They should've made an animation for nabbit, so when he picks up a power-up he takes it and puts in his bag, to show he steals it

No. The game states none of the Yoshis or Nabbit can transform from powerups.
The whole point of the powerups like the fire flower and elephant is to reduce your damage from enemies
The Yoshi's and Nabbit can't take damage from enemies. So aside from very niche situations there's simply no point in obtaining powerups for those characters.
You can still use the Badges though which helps you navigate the terrain

I like to think he can’t use anything because he’s just stuffing them in the bag to sell later hence why you get “points”
I think it fits because easy mode isn’t as fun, so therefore they should nudge the player to normal mode characters instead
no nabbit exists as an easy mode character who can't die/get hit by enemies so that a younger family member can play without actually interfering with the game, he can't use powerups because he's invincible so needed a downside to encourage people to play the game with a regular character
He can’t use items because he can’t take damage, so using items would make him unbalanced.
If I couldn't take damage and had the rare ability to grab items without automatically using them, I would probably become a thief as well.
