    Hi, keep going and things will fall into place. Remember, a setback can teach you so many things, but it’s not the end of the world.

    Missed your uploads man! Stay Strong! I'm interested in OMFS as well, currently a D1. I've been following you for a long time throughout my two application cycles and before then near the end of my undergrad career, your youtube channel has always been a breath of fresh air. Not getting in with those stats is crazy! In dental school so far, every non-A hurts a lot, but this video did give me some good perspective that I very well may have to do an internship year (which I'm fully willing to do). Keep us updated brother, it's a very long/tough journey!

      Ay thanks man. Yeah, I think it is becoming veryyy common to do an intern year. It'll be worth the grind in the end though. I'm pumped to start in a few months

    • @trevorwestdds5505

      Honestly not much. I believe that most programs took applicants that had already done an intern year because the upcoming D4 class (me) has missed out on 6 months of clinic time with covid shutdown

    heyy trevor. sorry that things didn't work out for you. I know this feeling. i am a dental student living in Egypt and i still have one year left to finish. i am interested in oral surgery residency programs as well. i was just asking since you applied to many programs if you know which programs accept foreign trained dentists with out green card, i would very much appreciate it.

    Hey Trevor, was this internship paid?

  • @davimatos2502
    @davimatos2502 3 года назад +1

    You have to do some kinda of exam to get into residency or it's purely curriculum based? Here you have to go through both phases

    • @trevorwestdds5505
      @trevorwestdds5505  3 года назад

      Depends on the residency, OMFS requires the CBSE, ortho requires the GRE

    • @davimatos2502
      @davimatos2502 3 года назад +1

      I'm about to do apply for residency in 2 years and I'm studying to get an internship on OMFS this year. The preparation is though af and I really want to go straight out of dental school.

    • @trevorwestdds5505
      @trevorwestdds5505  3 года назад

      Totally doable right out of school, but you gotta crush the cbse

      @@trevorwestdds5505 I wish there was some kinda os centralized exam like this in Brazil. I will have to travel to other states to apply and do the exams of each residency. I don't have that kinda of money to apply to 13 programs, but I'll try to apply to, at least, 3 programs. My #1 it's in my city and they offer scholarship, so that'd be a win-win. Also, the normal number of spots per residency here is 2 or 3, so it's it's ridiculously hard.

    • @trevorwestdds5505
      @trevorwestdds5505  3 года назад

      Good luck man! Yeah that is similar to here as well. Most programs get like 200 to 300 applicants for 2 or 3 spots

  • @chang8144
    @chang8144 3 года назад +1

    Ya know Columbia had 16 graduates get into an OMFS residency while OSU graduates didn't get into any. It's seems the selections are similar to federal judicial clerkships. They mostly come from the "top" schools while the mid tier schools send a few. It's so bogus.

  • @maxm680

    Dang, it seems like many students are going to be punished due to lost of clinical experience this year.

  • @throwaway9425

    Hey do you mind saying what your CBSE score was or atleast give a range? Was it 70+? I'm surprised you didn't match especially since you had a top 5% class rank too.

    • @trevorwestdds5505
      @trevorwestdds5505  3 года назад +1

      Yeah no problem. I got a 72. I had another classmate with the same score that didn't match either. This cycle was kinda tough I think with covid

    • @throwaway9425
      @throwaway9425 3 года назад

      @@trevorwestdds5505 Thanks! Wow 72 and top 5% class rank! That would be an easy match any other cycle. I saw the match results and apparently way more people applied this year. I'm sure you'll match next cycle. Good luck!

    Learn to talk less. If most people are like me, you come out as a conceited self centered "look at me" kind of person. This is repulsive. You are not likeable. Whereas academic performance is important, remember that the residency director is asking themselves, "can I stand this personality in the next 4 ( or 6-,years)?"
    You may need to improve your CBSE score? What is your current score?
