Apostles and the God hand would be interesting villains in the Fire Emblem universe especially in a 'warriors' themed game.. I wonder how characters like Marth, Ike, Byleth and others would fare against them.
Some guy expressed surprise about "no Berserk games existing" so I typed out this response but then you yeeted your original upload of this video and my comment wouldn't post. Hopefully he sees it here. Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage for Dreamcast is the first Berserk game made and is the second most available game in the west. It features an original plot and Hack n' Slash action but suffers from the chunkiness that plagued early 3D games. Berserk Millennium Empire Arc: Chapter of the Holy Demon War for PS2 is the second Berserk game made but is the hardest to get into as it was only released in Japan. Fan translations exist but with the crackdown on Rom/Iso hosting sites getting your hands on a working, translated Iso will take a bit of effort. Berserk and the Band of the Hawk for PS3, PS4, PSVita, & PC is the most recent and readily available Berserk game. It plays like a Dynasty Warriors clone so the gameplay doesn't express the series' themes very well.
Micaiah from FE RD gets a lot of flak, but honestly she was one of my favorite Lord units for both gameplay and story reasons. Gameplay because she's a Lord that isn't solo the game overpowered and has higher utility in a support role, and story because she's a nuanced character with ideals, struggles, notable accomplishments, flaws, notable failures, a past, growth, a future, relationships, and isn't always The Hero (looking at you, vast majority of FE protagonists).
Nobody talks about those because kids do these don't talk don't play those games they just complain about the 3DS ones. Even though one of the 3DS games save the franchise.
The problem with Corrin was also the theme of the game itself not being balanced with the FE setting. The problem is that Fates, at it's core, is a Story about him discovering his true Family and fighting for them, despite one part of his family being on the side of Evil(this giving us the idea that you should work for bad people, because Family, a.k.a being pro-abuse), no matter how you justify it. That was not properly balanced with FE being a war setting and encourages, if not totally agrees with the disgusting notion, that the suffering of non family members is ok and as long it's for family, it's OK, as seen perfectly for Conquest. Corrin being a self-insert is not the biggest issue, it's the theme of Fates itself making a pointless dilemma.
@@ursaber I'm not good on the lore of the Buster sword, but I feel the Dragonslayer is better, as it has bathed in the blood of so many demons that it can kill spirits.
So what we need is a third tellius game where Ike's ideals are smashed at the beginning of the game. And the ghost of the black knight keeps showing up to haunt him.
Interesting note about Byleth as a name: it first appears in a book called the Ars Goetia, part of the Lesser Key of Solomon. The Lesser Key of Solomon deals with demonology, and describes Byleth as a "mighty and terrible king of hell, who has eighty-five legions of demons under his command." When summoned, he "gives all the love of men and women until the conjuror is satisfied".
Not sure if it's been done before (at least with FE Warriors, you kind of have something similar, but since you do return to the status quo by the end of the game, I don't think it'd be the same), but I was thinking what if the first chapter or so of the game's play out like that, where our main protagonist is fighting an army with trusted allies, only to then have them lose in front of him and probably die, and he becomes one of the only survivors left. Then he eventually meets up with another Lord or wanderer and ends up joining his party because a band of brigands (bandits) decide to assault them and a nearby village? You could have it that maybe certain events let you show you what the dude's life was prior to that event and maybe get to know and grow attached to the old "hawks", and by the time of the final battle, you end up fighting the two battles simultaneously, one that most surely would still end in defeat, while the other comes close, but due to events that happen in the fight, you get a chance to overcome the odds. (Heck, you could even make the game have permadeath as a default again - even though I hated it - , but make it similar to casual by also letting you retreat your units from the fight should they hit critical health, with the catch that they can do a strong counter attack once after reaching said state without healing, and if they don't kill their assailant by the time they get boosted, they could die.
Guts could easily be a side char but never a main cause they treat it like a self insert in recent times with fates and Three houses. He'd be a better written tough guy of the group.
The series has always been on the more optimistic side of things with it’s themes of friendship but it feels like you didn’t play the games before Awakening? There have been plenty of interesting characters, and plots that challenged those characters in the past. Awakening and Fates were story low points for the series, Fates obviously being fathoms below all else. You should check out the GBA titles and the Radiance games for stories with lots more going on. Admittedly it’s been many years since I’ve played them, but I can say for certain the writing there was a lot stronger than what Awakening and Fates had to offer.
Guts is basically a more extreme ike I agree with you that the character player shouldn't be the main character. Corrin was garbage. I actually like FE conquest I believe it could of been epic if corrin was erased and then maybe make Xander and Royima love the same woman or something for them to hate each other alot more.
The writing in Fates is pretty bad compared to the other games, but damn it I still love the game as much as the other FE games I've played. But I agree completely about the avatar characters being particularly badly written, they're in the same vein as Kirito and other self-insert wish fulfillment types of their ilk. I really wish they were written better, the ideas that were there could have been interesting, but the execution was just not up to par. Also before anyone asks, my name is not based on Corrin, I was using the name before Fates came out. It was pure coincidence.

The thing is, Robin has potential to be a much lighter version of what you want. He was born cursed to be little more than a tool to the great evil of his world. He had to spend his life before the game running from the forces of said evil and those opposing the evil who would want nothing more than to kill him and be done with it. If he didn’t get a plot-mandated mind wipe, he could have shown the impact of a life like that. It would partially explain why he’s so good at all aspects of combat: he was bred to be the best a human could be and needed those skills just to survive this long. Then his cynicism and Chrom’s idealism would have real conflict that would force both to grow. Corrin, however, is impossible to salvage.
Oh there'd be no point in making Guts just a side character. Someone like Robin would completely fade into obscurity in his presence. Plus, rather than 'Lord', he could take the new rank of Usurper. He is out to butcher a King of Devils as violently as possible, after all.
But I mean, how should the gameplay mechanics be? The series is basically Guts slaying people, and later Apostoles, most of the times alone. So how would the strategy system, that is Fire Emblem's core, work?
Easy, say it with me. ISEKAI. No apostles or Griffith, just Guts getting thrown in a new world in the middle of a conflict he literally doesn`t care about, trying to get home and maybe eventually remembering he actually once cared about people through the new people he meets. This ain`t ever happening but i figure something like that might work.
@@quintonthevillain2745 here is my idea, remember Guts left the band after the hundred years war or he hunts down the apostles after he the the Dragon Slayer. let's say in those 2 yrs. time he got teleport to other world (the FE) and he wanders land to know where he is.
I'd like to see more FE vids from you.
I want this game so bad, SO bad!
What are the songs used in the making of this video? First one sounds really familiar, but I can't place it. Almost sounds like it's from Skyrim.
I'm wondering too, it sounds very beautiful
Reuploaded because RUclips doesn’t like Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates being called out for.
FE: Fates is just FE: Alabama.
I'm still mad about SMTxFE too friend.
Oh shit... there is a story in fire emblem!?!?
Boofire, will the outer republic interact with Galen? (For the newer viewers the outer republic comes from Earth in Star Wars)
What are your thoughts now that Three Houses has been out for a while?
The writing in Fates is pretty bad compared to the other games, but damn it I still love the game as much as the other FE games I've played. But I agree completely about the avatar characters being particularly badly written, they're in the same vein as Kirito and other self-insert wish fulfillment types of their ilk. I really wish they were written better, the ideas that were there could have been interesting, but the execution was just not up to par.
Also before anyone asks, my name is not based on Corrin, I was using the name before Fates came out. It was pure coincidence.
Um they did this with Ike my dude.
This is exactly why I agree with you the whole story is perfect as a player created avatar. Far more so then a secret dragon twice.......
yes guts would be great for fire emblem but what about if the DOOM slayer was in DARK souls in 1,2,and 3
You're talking like Hell wasn't a dark souls game with the Doom Slayer as the boss the demons had to try defeating.
@@singletona082 haaa it's more the other way around the doom slayer will slay ever monster in dark souls 1,2,and 3 the would be fun when the mean undead walk's in the fog it had gone in DOOM this goes has well for but the DOOM SLAYER was in stead teleport and gone through dark soul 1,2,and 3 to fine his way back that will be fun
Then the games would be too easy
What's the soundtrack between 0:00 and 3:06?
@@BOOFIRE191 Thanks man, your vids are always great
I can't see the comment for some reason, what's the song's name?
@@a.p.6580 I gotcha my friend, it's from Star Wars: The Old Republic, Alderaan's Ambient tracks
@@JeffSneedstein thanks man, really appreciate it.
The thing is, Robin has potential to be a much lighter version of what you want. He was born cursed to be little more than a tool to the great evil of his world. He had to spend his life before the game running from the forces
of said evil and those opposing the evil who would want nothing more than to kill him and be done with it.
Corrin should've ended up smt like Jaime from GOT as a hated person who sacrificed his reputation for the good of the many.
pls make those videos
anyone know the bgm
Can, you post the thumbnail somewhere I need it on my phone
But I mean, how should the gameplay mechanics be? The series is basically Guts slaying people, and later Apostoles, most of the times alone. So how would the strategy system, that is Fire Emblem's core, work?
@@BOOFIRE191 Look up to it then 😄
Easy, say it with me. ISEKAI.
No apostles or Griffith, just Guts getting thrown in a new world in the middle of a conflict he literally doesn`t care about, trying to get home and maybe eventually remembering he actually once cared about people through the new people he meets.
This ain`t ever happening but i figure something like that might work.
@@quintonthevillain2745 Mhh interesting indeed, it could potentially work.
@@quintonthevillain2745 here is my idea, remember Guts left the band after the hundred years war or he hunts down the apostles after he the the Dragon Slayer. let's say in those 2 yrs. time he got teleport to other world (the FE) and he wanders land to know where he is. He sees a town he hears about the war and stumbled onto the protagonist.( I don't know the story of new FE)
Dude pitch that story!!
