- Jeff `The Dude' Leboswki is mistaken for Jeffrey Lebowski, who is The Big Lebowski. Which explains why he's roughed up and has his precious rug peed on. In search of recompense, The Dude tracks down his namesake, who offers him a job. His wife has been kidnapped and he needs a reliable bagman. Aided and hindered by his pals Walter Sobchak, a Vietnam vet, and Donny, master of stupidity.

that's the magic. everyone hates it the first time, if they're expecting the typical plot driven film, but once you accept the fact that is' just about a rug, and enjoy the characters, you will fall in love w them more each time you watch it!

This movie is truly a lightning in a bottle kinda thing. This, and Clerks. No sequel required.
Exactly. Look at how the Clerks sequel went, and they're even making a 3rd. Leaving Lebowski with just one, no sequel, no spin-off would be perfect.

Jeff Bridges truly embodied "The Dude" in The Big Lebowski and delivered an exceptional performance. The connection between him and John Goodman felt authentic and genuine. I appreciated how Bridges portrayed a character who didn't take life too seriously, making his role truly unique. The ensemble cast, including Steve Buscemi, John Turturro, and the always beautiful Julianne Moore, added to the overall greatness of the film.
My girlfriend left me because she's fed up of me referencing the The Big Lebowski all the time

I watch this last night with my dad on Netflix and guess what, it was brilliant plus that rug really ties the room together.

Dude is one of the coolest characters in cinema history & Walter is exactly the opposite....loved the movie..especially John Goodman, Jeff Bridges and Steve Buscemi performances.

its interesting how a movie about a unemployed hippie and his friends who get involved in the worst terms of a deal gone wrong is one of my favorite movies of all time :).Most movies like this woudlv been bad but this film deals with themes of friendship and that even the laziest of people "the dude" can be important. Not alot of directors can do that.....
