No one has ever wondered whether Wemby himself might be keen to keep some of the players they play with now. You have to bear in mind that the guy does everything on the pitch and making him happy is something that makes perfect sense. I think one good, promising player is enough. But there was a clear improvement in Spurs at the end of the season. Something to think about 😊

Disagree on the foundation players. I have them in two tiers. Players your keeping for next 5-10 yrs, and solid players but are replaceable/trade able.
    Tier 1:
    Wemby
    Vessel
    Sochan
    Tier 2:
    Tre
    Sandro
    Branham
Not a keldon fan unless he ups his defense/effort a lot. Guy can score but that’s it. Wesley can’t shoot. I love his effort but you gotta get shooters are kind wemby. Need to see more time from Sandro, but I thought he had clear chemistry with wemby on both sides of floor, can relieve some of the banging from wemby etc.
    Loved the pod!

@@danielpenrodii2389 leaps and bounds? Huh he might be faster but he’s much shorter and more of a true sf. Markkanen can play 3-5, almost averaged a double-double with over 20 points a game and can shoot the three at 7 feet tall. Two seven footers who can shoot threes and crash board and one of them is wemby who’s getting the most stocks again next year is a recipe for a finals contender. That takes a lot of pressure off of wemby also offensively.

Here's what I wonder, why no one mentions that DeMar DeRozan is going to be a free agent this summer and still is averaging 20+ points a game for the Bulls. I think he still likes Pop and I can imagine he's one of the many who see Wemby as a budding Super Star. Imagine a line up of him at the 3, Devin, and Wemby. Then you add a top 5 guard like Topic or Dillingham and if the Spurs get the Toronto pick maybe you swing for the fences a bit and take Buzelis, Cody Williams, or Ron Holland.
That to me is at least a play-in team because the Spurs have a number of picks possibly in the '25 draft and '26 that would allow them to ditch tanking and possibly still get one, maybe 2 lottery picks. So the Spurs can just play and win and they don't have to mortgage everything to get a Tre Young or Cade Cunningham. DeMar would solve a lot of the Spurs ills.

A 7’ banger, upgrade at PG would be my priorities. Tre is a backup/situational PG. A few guys on the team deserve a little more time to develop. I can see a couple guys getting moved to get an all star caliber player

Tre is shooting like 40% from three as a starter, has 7 assists too, doesn't have turnovers, and is a team player. Take Trea Young who shoots worse percentage from three and losses the ball a bunch and has maybe 4 assists more per game. When we talk about this coming offseason,
I hope spurs to target two special guys.
    No.1 is magic's Isaac.
This season Wemby is often defending two or more guys at same time, he needs some help.
If Isaac joins us, we can play swishing defense on front court sooooo well.
Plus, we can avoid Wemby losing stamina quickly.
A health Wemby is our cornerstone,
it's doesn't matter what others think.
    In my imagination,
if we get raptor's pick this year,
spurs & magic's trade should be like this:
    Spurs gets: Issac + 2024 magic's 1st round pick
Magic gets: raptor's pick + Malaki + maybe two 2st round picks.
Another one spur fan told me this year seems too weak, I agreed.
    So I changed it:
    Spur gets: Issac + 2024 magic's 1st round pick
Magic gets: raptor's pick+ spur's 2026 1st round pick(lottery protected for two years than become two 2st round picks) + Malaki + maybe two 2st round picks.
    If it's a done deal,
then imagine we put wizard's Avdija along with Wemby & Isaac.
    Yes, he is my No.2
Solid defense + iso + a little bit playmaking.
Sounds like Ben Simmons with shoot + good attitude and only 4yrs/5500M.
But it would cost more assets to make it come true.
That'd in my mind like this:
    Spur gets: Avdija
Wizard gets: magic's pick+ bull's pick + 2028 spur's 1st round pick(lottery protected for two years then become two 2st round picks) + Keldon + Graham( to help with salary match)
    If we go lucky,
we may have the starters line like this:
    Wemby/ Zach
    Isaac/ Sochan/mamu
    Avdija/ Cedi/Sidy
    Vassell
Plus our own 2024 1st pick to backup
We all know pop's great at developing offense in DEFENSIVE TALENTS.
    In this case,
Sarr, Resacher and maybe Topic are all good additions to us.
Even if we finally go for Trae with hawk's picks,
this kind of defensive starters line will make it more acceptable.
    By the way,
I also think about other guys just like Markkanen or Garland then give up quickly.

      Thanks for your message!!!
      I'm also Isaac' fan too.
After 904 days, he made his return for Magic this season.
For now, he played 55 games with 16mins per game.
Consider his oft-injured history, that's not a bad signal.
We all know pop's also a health management master.
If he joins us next season,
he'll be monitored anytime for sure.
Trade for him with our own future 1st round pick maybe a risky investment,
so I put a proviso with lottery protected for two years.
In this case, we have to show Magic with the utmost sincerity,
      same with Isaac.
Every team knows Magic's a ticking time bomb.
      They have too many bigmen,
and too many rookies to extend contracts in few years.
      Including Banchero's Max.
We can help them with two picks for future talents, and Malaki for backup SG with shoot.
Besides utmost sincerity for the trade,
we also have to think about SA is a small market.
No free agent cames proactively except LMA.
If we want Isaac to stay with us for a long time,
we have to show him more.
We have pop, we have Wemby.
      Most importantly,
We have patience and know how to be a champion.

That Why I dont think the Spurs would draft Saar even if they get the number one pick and that also why I would put Tre Jones a lot higher on that "foundation players" list. I dont think he will end up being the number one PG for the future Spurs dinasty but I do think that right now he is one of the player that fit the best with Wemby in the rooster. Dream scenario would be to get to draft Risacher as number 1, 2 or 3 pick and then draft Sheppard or Dillingham with the raptors pick. Tre Jones is not a field general that created shooting opportunities away from the ball. Defenses did not worry about him, so even though he did better than I imagined he would, he isn’t the caliber of guy to fixate on in that regards. For Victor’s development and the team’s future, we need a PG that can facilitate the ball better, demand more attention with or without the ball, and can control the floor. Tre does none of those things.

We MUST address the PG spot early in the draft and find a guy who is a facilitator, a field general, somebody that creates plays/space without even having the ball in his hands. Best case scenario for me this offseason is if we're able to draft ALEX SARR and DALTON KNECHT in the first round (like a 1st pick and 7th pick, respectively) then somehow gets to draft ZACH EDEY and RYAN DUNN both in the 2nd round...then subsequently able to trade for either LAMELO BALL or TRAE YOUNG in the free agency!! Damn! The starting lineup would be WEMBY, SARR, SOCHAN, VASSELL and LAMELO/TRAE then 2nd unit would be EDEY, COLLINS, DUNN, KNECHT and JONES. Then finally, WEMBY gets the gold in the Olympics!! =)

Dude gets cooked on defense every time. "Effort" isn't good enough. And you really want to start someone who couldn't put a ball in the basket if he were 5 inches away from it?
That's just a recipe for a spacing disaster. Forget Wemby getting double-teamed this season, dude is about to get tripple teamed next season if youre running a Wesley and Sochan lineup at the same time.

San Antonio has a win-now mentality with Victor on the team and they're not going to keep a bunch of guys that would be backups on any other NBA team. You seem to really like all of these starters and I think you're pretty much alone in that. Yeah they're the home team and we root for them but this bunch of players kept Victor down and did not help him prosper. Very few of these guys if any will be on the team next year and certainly may be none of them by the year after that. It's almost a waste of time to review their numbers. We had bad guard play bad forward play and incredible center play. You talk about this team as if they were a 55 game-winning team when this group of guys couldn't play with one of the best young players in league history and get any more victories than they did.

You lost me with your trade targets. Absolute trash, all those players. NO way, as in NO WAY, we want any of those players. Trae Young will take out half of our first round picks for the next 4 yrs. NO WAY. He will be a FA in 25/26, with an early termination clause. Get him then. Otherwise he could leave for LA or NY after his contract is up if you get him now. Topic will be available for the Spurs this year. Other teams are not into him, like the Spurs. As long as we are in the top 6 we should be fine.

You missed the part about contracts. Regardless of the level they need to rise to complement Victor, it's not easy to just cut everyone nor is it even wise as this is everyone's first season with Wemby.
