Watched about 5 videos that was just saying "Match the base and downscale resolution" "Don't touch bitrate number, just go max quality setting" without stating why. Your video actually explained what was happening and why as well as:
1. Showing me how to fix a problem
2. Teaching me about bitrate
3. Allowed me to find a good balance that works for my pc.
10/10 will watch again and recommend to others!
Totally wish I found this video first. A lot of my recordings are blocky for the same reason. Didn't even realize the recordings were coming out garbage until I finally got around to editing one. Disappointing.

This really worked for me, and helped my footage out a lot!
A suggestion however, for those who want to find that sweet spot for their bitrate. What I did was recorded some footage that is consistently similar, such as driving a car in your favorite car game or doing a training match in your favorite shooter game (I make minecraft videos so I just recorded that). It doesn't have to be long, i only did like 10 seconds.
Anyways, start low, at around 10k bitrate and keep increasing until your footage gets choppy (it might take awhile). After that just go 10k bitrate lower then what you were at (Ex: if you were at 50k bitrate and it looked choppy and glitchy, move it down to 40k bitrate!)

I faced this issue on using obs for first time your video was a gem tq man
I got issue when recording VR gaming, lose more than 60% of the quality during recording, the video became so blurry. After I watched your video, I found out the problem is that I set CQP instead of CBR under the output, after I change it back to CBR and set 60000, the quality went back to 100% as original. Thanks a lot man! 👍
