Because he was there about the planes, the flying, AND his cars. Not the drama, stress and bs of running the company and dealing with the people. That's how. At the end of the day, he's a big hearted, kind man who is passionate about his interests. The television show put the wrong spotlight on him, a spotlight he didn't even want to be in.
40 below F , equals 40 below C.. the time the Temps equal each other .. Regardless it is bloody cold , to be out there , not to mention the Wind Chill factor .. Good Vid..
i wish i could have rick's job, he gets to do so many amazing things! not only that, he actually brings out the best in the people he works for, they're truly happy to have him around! its not like dirty jobs where the people are sometimes standoff-ish to mike rowe haha. Keep it up rick!
Ice Pilots NWT makes me feel proud to be a Canadian - their spirit and determination (at least conveyed in the show) is uplifting (NO pun intended ;-) )
I'm really surprised he let Rick take the car out and even more surprised he let him do donuts. Didn't get a smile out of Joe until the end. Not sure if he was sincere about doing it every day!
haha, if i got the chance to go on a flight like that with them i would fly over all the way from NEW ZEALAND (pretty much as far away from there as you could possibly get)!
My first car 49 merc i didnt know it was a classic back then got laughed at were i went the girls didnt like it either because it had a big back seat ha ha ha
+Leanne Strong They hire anybody who wants to try. Most don't make it to the co pilots seat though. At buffalo you don't just get hired as a pilot, you start at the very bottom doing the dirty jobs in the warehouse or driving a courier van and it can take months just to get on one of their planes.
If you watch the show you’d see at least 2 female pilots that were featured during the shows run (likely more over the years that we didn’t get to see). And as mentioned in these comments, they will hire people that can commit to working through the ranks without quitting and if they get only a few female applicants you can’t blame Buffalo
+Rick te Kronnie The show is filmed before a live studio audience. As part of his show, he shows these segments that he's done "out in the field" to that audience. It's definitely possible that they add a laugh track to that part, but I don't see why they would bother.
I've watched every video with Joe in it , this is the happiest I have ever seen him.
well done, so lucky to do this flight..
how the heck did he put a smile on Joe's face?
Because he's Rick Mercer

Ahhhh, bliss! My favorite 2 shows put together!
Vintage means historic and are worth salvaging and restoring . Preserving history . Thank you .
Rick Mercer and his adventures bring laughter during these grim days!

Love how in the intro the plane behind him isn't a dc3 haha
Love it! One of the better ones!
Ricks the only person that can make Joe smile
I'm as old as that red car, I must be VINTAGE!
Buffalo Airways to make a quote,,,,,,We The North,,,,, literally. Thank you .
If Joe needs a volunteer to do that flight every day, count me in .
unbeleivably good!
11th wave and the plane is still intact thanks to the guys of the 1st wave
I've never seen Buffalo Joe smile before.

I wish I could work for Buffalo Airlines..
Joe was so happy!!!
Wow Joe is Smiling....
Close your eyes and listen around 2:40. Kermit the frog? Lol. But really, this was hilarious! Rick haha
Operating in the North requires hardy aircraft and people eh!
- 40 isnt that bad i can live up there and work up there
that was fun
What’s with the canned laughter? It sure doesn’t sound natural
how do tey balance the plane with stuffing in cargo
We use the weight & balance from the afm, observing compartment weight limits for each respective flight station
My first car 49 merc i didnt know it was a classic back then got laughed at were i went the girls didnt like it either because it had a big back seat ha ha ha
What's up boys???? Take a rip A
That fake laugh track almost ruined this.
Thomas Biddlecombe It's not fake
Buffalo Joe for Governor General!
Check out the guy in the very back at 6:07
Does Buffalo Airways ever hire women to fly as Ice Pilots? Just curious.

Eastern Explorer will
Ahh Rick I like you so much better as a clown, please stay out of the politics and continue to entertain us with silly adventures.
I love watching RMR, but the laugh tracks are just stupid and annoying.
They're not laugh tracks. It's a studio audience.
+K. M. A. If it is they do a pretty damn good job of doing the exact same laugh over and over again and suddenly shut up

Gis
1 million for one km ...im sure canada can afford that ..since they can bring in refugees at the cost of 2 billion
Its not that they can't afford it, its just not worth it. If the population was larger they would build a road.
I'd rather fly a modern era plane than a wwii dc3. I'd also rather fly in warmer climates than in bone-jarring cold temperatures,
