Choosing a quality hide | Know Your Leather

What do you look for in a quality leather hide? Begin with the end in mind: what is the purpose of the project and how do you want it to look? Next, you'll want to inspect the characteristics of your hide for any quality issues and how much cuttable area you're able to work with (an 80% to 85% cuttable area is good to begin with).
If you're going for a rustic and daily look, the keywords you can use are rustic finish, pull-up finish, crazy horse finish, or suede. If you're going for the standard and classy look, the keywords you can use are full-grain, aniline, semi-aniline, top grain, or embossed uniform finishes.
