  • Let's continue our tumble into the rabbithole of jewelry as magical symbol, with a trip through the use of jewelry through a few different eras of history in ancient Greece. Along with the continuing use of amulets and protective jewelry, the influx of gold into ancient Greece changed the way jewelry and belief were intertwined, giving us some absolutely spectacular examples of goldsmithing and craftsmanship made in the name of ritual and devotion.

Your voice is very soothing to listen to. Here is a question. If you had access to a TARDIS (assuming you know Dr who) where and when would you visit?

Thank you! My voice was a bit scratchy while recording this episode. That is a really good question- I'd love to see the pyramids at Giza in their limestone encased, gold topped splendor, but the real temptation of a TARDIS is that I could, potentially, visit entirely different planets and solar systems! It would be SO hard to choose 😮 I'd have to spend a good amount of time with the Doctor to make sure I got to see all sorts of exciting things. Perhaps the royal court of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, who left behind all of those wonderful terracotta warriors, and definitely the royal complex of Nimrud in ancient Mesopotamia! I'd be an excellent time travel tourist 😂

@@MoonHoney.JewelryAgree!!! I would love to see Sumeria and the civilizations that originally created a lot of the impossible architecture. I would love to get my paws on some of the fabrics and learn what i could.
