This is awesome!! Counterparts was my first Rush album proper. Only had the compilation 'Chronicles' prior. This song opening the album had me sold on first listen! Man what a groove...and HEAVY! Or so I thought...then Stick It Out came on and I was like 'holy sh!t, these guys are amazing!!' (added bonus...they're Canadian! From Toronto...not far from my home!) It wasn't long after that the Rush album catalogue collection started! Hearing Geddy & Neil (RIP) here is hearing one of the best rhythm sections in rock...period...thanks for this! Cheers!
Thank you for this passion you have and for providing it to us rare "cool" nerds who actually become inundated with euphoria when we listen to your execellent work...btw, this piece here is for eagles...not turkeys. I will be emailing You a very rare bass and drum duo from about 50 years ago. As a bass player of 40 years and Rush my favorite, the bass parts and solo in middle of song are my favorite of ALL time. Only thing I don't like about song is the bad mix from the 70's, the song featured a very famous keyboardist & lead guitarist who had their output levels cranked too damn high...very ear-piercing. If You decide to do song I'm hoping You'll be able to mix the two out...I would LOVE to hear isolated drums & bass on the song. I'll provide info now plus in email. Thanks in advance, if You put it together by way of your ears, heart and unprecedented talent. The band, from 1970's is "Return to Forever,"...album is "Where Have I Known You Before," song is 1st track "Vulcan Worlds" written/created by bass player Stanley Clarke...no vocals in song...just badass bass parts. Thanks.
Hi there! Thank you for the request. I'll take a look at this song. I just listened to it-it looks promising. I received your email as well, thank you. You're right; this track is very busy. It'll be a nice challenge. Stay tuned!
Neil is so locked in tight with Geddy! That’s why they sounded so good!
Insane!
love the sound of that album.
Agreed
Geddy's technique sounds great on this track. The live version on 'Different Stages' is unreal. Thanks for posting.
You are welcome !
Yup, this song live, especially on Different Stages, is off the charts!!

You're very welcome, my pleasure! Thank you for this kind comment.
Is this the original release, or the 're-mastered' version?
Hi! It is from the 1993 Counterparts CD. (82528 2)
While this is great, it crushes the sound of the drums so much that it isn't useable as a backing track other than just for jamming purposes.
