this is actually from a long time ago in 2019 after the first few kills where VTOL toggle applied to joystick felt like muscle memory. is back when Reliant's landing gear was tied to wings instead of VTOL. raising the gear put the ship into vertical automatically and "VTOL" was an independent toggle. basically, vertical is the "combat" mode, because "VTOL" is being used for strafe. which makes it go up really fast. throw in some roll for corkscrews, pitch while moving and its turning radius halves or more, can retro looking sideways, etc.. actually my favorite ship and flight style.
