I miss when animated movies were generally at least half passion project instead of full cash cow. This is still a genuinely enjoyable and well-done kid's adventure movie.
@@ladyvenusdragon They actually do hint at it earlier in the movie. When Mario is caught by Claudia talking to someone on the phone (which is implied to be Jamal), in the next scene it shows he was talking to someone in Interpol.
I was born in 92. So I caught the end of the feel good era from the movies, to the tv shows, to the music. Watching this scene just makes you feel like a kid again. Crazy how time flies.
You made me feel old. I was a Junior in college when you were born. I was three when the movie came out so I had to wait for vhs release a year later. The 80's chipmunk show was really fun. Great opening too.
It was at the end of the 80s, so you would actually want to be a 90s kid. I was born in 1991 and got to experience a ton of classics after they came out, but not so long after that they were forgotten, such as the chipmunk adventure and the brave little toaster. And still got to be a kid during other fantastic releases like the goofy movie, tiny toons how I spent my summer vacation, and well into the early 2000s for fantastic animations like atlantis the lost empire, the road to el Dorado, and the emperors new groove. Check those ones out if you haven't seen em yet. It's never too late to appreciate that which still exists, highlights a great part of our time, unfortunately hand-drawn animation is an unheard of rarity these days.
This scene alone is better than any of the live action movies. You can feel the scene build up at 1:07 in the chase part. Not mention better songs. You don’t get anything like this in the new ones. I know this is a kids movie but it feels more intense than the dumb live action ones.
@@anjalisanjayify Yes, Ross, Jr. and his wife Janice Karman are continuing the legacy of The Chipmunks This arrived in theaters following the success of NBC's Alvin and the Chipmunks
The plot twist that Jamal was from Interpol is pretty impressive and the car chase and this was unexpectedly good as good as I remembered it from when I was a kid I mean you had genuine suspense thinking all was lost and then the inspector reveals himself and give Chase to Claudia and Clause
The police chase was always the portion that stuck in my head. My only criticism was that it was just too short, Jamal barely has a chance to shine after his big reveal
Me too. My mother told me we were seeing a movie about chipmunks and I thought it was going to be about Chip n’ Dale. It turned out to be much better than I thought it would be.
I was born in 1999, and didn't learn about this franchise until the first live-action movie came out in 2007. If I also am remembering correctly, a 20th anniversary digitally remastered version of this movie was also released the same year. By now, I've seen this movie maybe four or five dozen times...and 'Diamond Dolls' is still my favorite song out of them all. Fondly enough, my mother grew up with the 80's cartoon; she had told that to both me and my older brother and sister.
At first my mom bought the VHS from Speedy Video. Then it gone somewhere while I was still hook up with this movie. After awhile A&W got some promotion where when you buy a meal there you can get this VHS at a really low price. I just can't pass the opportunity and buy it right away. The songs always cure my mood whenever I got a scold from my mom. Such a good memories.

I'm glad this movie came out in the 80's, the songs were amazing, the animation was spectacular, the story had some serious moments, like this car chase. And I love the twist at the end where Jamal, who was an antagonist, turned out to be an undercover cop to help Dave chase down Klaus and Claudia.
