I will say as someone from Ohio, you should’ve seen the “Hell Is Real” sign in Mount Sterling, Ohio. If you’re from Ohio, you what I’m talking about. It’s a classic😎
Good coverage of Ohio. The "Hall of Justice" was actually built to be a train station in the early 1930s similar to the architecture style of grand train stations of the time (Grand Central Station). It really is grand when you go in with the Art Deco style and murals that line the upper area. I was last there 2017 for a Star Wars exhibit that featured the clothing of all Star Wars films up to that time. It was a tour but our stop had a unique Kenner exhibit that had history of the company but featured mostly Star Wars toy sets from the original trilogy.
The answer to Hall of Justice is they sent an artist to make reference art. At the time it had fallen into disrepair and was being used as a coat store. Thank goodness they rescued it for community use!
Another fun fact: There was a Sea World in Ohio (around Cleveland) until 2001. It was built before the Orlando location and they used to ship the dolphins and orcas to the coast during the off season.
Hope you enjoy(ed) Kentucky.
I was just in Cleveland this last October
You missed the A Christmas story house museum!
Love that sign museum absolutely fantastic very random!
THERE'S STILL SNOW ON THE GROUND!
What in the world!? How did I live in Ohio for 45 years and never see that giant Ronald McDonald set!!
Mahalo.... I'm going to Ohio in a week. Can't wait to get away from my blue state. Going for freedom, fun & adventure. Love from Honolulu. Ali
What a great video Justin! That sign museum was incredible. I'm originally from Columbus, so this was a journey down memory lane. Next time you're there, I recommend you check out COSI the science museum, where they have a cool Cracker Jack museum inside. There also used to be an amazing tiki restaurant called The Kahiki, but I think it closed years ago. Check it out!!
Bruh. You went to Cincinnati and didn’t go to Jungle Jim’s International Market in Fairfield Ohio (not too far from Cincinnati) ?!
It’s a Giant grocery store loaded with food and products from all over the world with INSANE Theming, Massive selection on things like Produce, Cheese, Soda ETC, Live Fish in the seafood department, a Friggin Monorail (that only runs on special occasions), A giant LOG of Provolone and Tons of Animatronics, fiberglass figures and Facinating History. The owner on occasion can be seen there or the Eastgate location, Dressed as a Wizard! Jungle Jim Bonaminio is a mad Genius! And plus you could’ve stocked up on Supplies for your long trip. I’m certain they have tons of Gluten-free Options
I have installed signs 25 years or more and people always wanted them as high as possible and I would warn them the higher they are the smaller they look.
I’ve lived in ohio all my life and I had no idea there is a sign museum
That train station had over 200 passenger trains a day passing though it back in its time.
Did you take Rt 16 to Columbus? I was surprised you didn't check out the Big Basket in Newark! I'm from Dresden where the Longaberger company originated and the Big Basket is sort of a must see for weird things. Lol
I lived liked 5 blocks from the Cincinnati Museum Center and I only just now realized the Hall of Justice was based on it. I watched so much Super Friends when it reran on Cartoon Network.
I totally remember Satellite liquor and Kona lanes was right up the street from me. How random the signs are in Ohio now.
Giant Ronald McDonald Statue
Justin: “what would you call this?
Me: a SICK PIC SELFIE!!
I’ve wanted to go to the sign museum for years. Too bad it’s only 20 minutes from me.
You should go! It's awesome. I do the same, tho, lots of cool attractions close to home and I've never been to them.
Hi. I would like you to please make some masks. Put the RandomLand R on one side of the mask. It would be so cool.
I would buy some.
Black fabric with different color R's
Justin goto Dayton Ohio, and visit the Air Force Museum. It's 4 hangars big. And it's free
In Plainfield, IN there’s a Mac the night playing the piano in the lobby of McDonald’s. I discovered him on a road trip a few years ago. He’s one of my favorite McDonald’s characters. Road trips are amazing for that. Full of surprises.
Justin was in my state. Such a brush with Greatness!
I’m from Ohio and did not even know about the sign museum. That’s so cool! I love neon signs, I’ll have to plan a visit.
How could you go to Ohio and not go to Jungle Jim's? That sign museum was so great.
next time you come to ohio you should go to the field of concrete corn in dublin or Ballantrae park it has some cool bunny statues.
Great video! When visiting the old train terminal you were also steps from the Cincinnati Reds original homesite, Crosley Field! Opened in 1912 and the Reds' home until 1970.
Really enjoyed this random vlog. It’s great to hear Justin get so excited about things, the signs in this vlog, it makes me happy. Xx
That puppy is so cute
6:46 That old traffic lights reminds me of the police-bot on Wall-E!
Cool to see you literally ten minutes from my house.
Lmao same !
It was also great to see the old Carpeteria genie at the end!
The American Sign Museum in Cincinnati looks so wonderful! I have to get myself there someday! I’m so glad you took the time to visit one of the most unique museums of historic signage ever! Cheers from Old Highway 66!
You came to Ohio, but didn't even come to the one place we're practically known for. I mean it is probably closed since it is winter, but you didn't even go to Cedar Point...
There's A LOT more than just Cedar Point...
You mean we don’t have to fly up to the Hall of Justice! Excellent share. Thank you.
Wait, I thought Ohio was a chunk error.
Wonders of Ohio
Me: Laughs in Ohioan
15:02 It would be very interesting and an amazing experience to see a town at night full of these neon signs!
Love this never been at the captiol yet
EPIC WONDERS OF OHIO!!!!!!!!!!
I also vividly remember the old Satellite Shopland in Anaheim and mourned the sign's removal. I just always assumed that the sign had been scrapped, but how cool that it's been restored and is on display at a museum!
ALL OF THOSE SIGNS LOOK COOL!
Love the new. Video
Omg! I remember the Kona Lanes!!!!!!! The Satellite sign, kind of. But the Kona Lanes! Yes! 😃🥰
I’m so glad someone is preserving those old signs! Thanks for the new adventure and continued inspiration. That place is now on my bucket list.
Welcome to Ohio ! Im glad you finally made it to the sign museum, we love that place. Also the globe with the neon cars has bullet holes .
IT'S WAY TOO EARLY!
first high five
Heh. What a trip - pun intended. The oldest modern street - one intended for automobile traffic, paved in reinforced concrete circa 1893 - is near there in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
And the sign museum? I'm going there at first opportunity.
If you do make another trip, come out around Halloween - you can go to Mansfield Reformatory.
It's a Kirkbride/Scofield Building and they have a Haunted Attraction with jump scares and all the fixin's - how cool is that?
Have fun!
If you go back to the sign museum look for the bullet hole in the Earl Scheib sign from Compton.
Did you know the world's first roundabout (rotary) is in Letchworth, Herts, UK. Date 1909, it says on the sign. (Riffing off your comment about the traffic light). Anyway great work
There's another one just like that McDonalds sign at Henry Ford Museum circa 1960. Great location for you to explore.. It's a quite a large museum coming in at 523,000 square feet.
Hi Justin thanks for this video! I m missing US so much... I hope the France USA borders will open again this year...
If you ever get back to Ohio you need to check out the Ohio caverns in West Liberty. Kings Island amusement park in Cincinnati and Cedar point amusement park in Sandusky. And the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. Just a few fun spots.
I remember the Satellite Liquor sign! I lived in two places near there at Katella and Haster in the late 1980s.
FYI, Magicland Market used to be called....you guessed it! Satellite Market. Del Taco used to be right across Katella!
You should check out the sweet Kenner mural in Cincinnati. Minutes from the sign museum. Also some old remnants of Kenner scattered throughout the city. Columbus has a little Wendy's museum (in Dublin, OH). Jungle Jim's supermarkets have animatronics, a monorail, & other fun things from the past. You're also not far from the Hoosier Gym & the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. Though I guess this advice is irrelevant, as you've already passed through.
You make the BEST videos ever. Entertaining, funny, informative and just plain fun. Thank you.
If you were in Cincinnati you totally should have stopped at Jungle Jim's Grocery Store!
Very cool video. I work for a company (YESCO) that's been in business for 100 years that probably fabricated a lot of these signs back in the day. Thanks for sharing this!!
This was a good show. Good pacing and lots of blinkin' lights.
Around the corner from the big gavel is The Topiary Park. A copy of the impressionist painting "A Day in the Park".
You will need a friend to visit the Museum whispering water fountains.
Kenner street is immediately north of the Museum parking lot you were in. Kenner Co. is but a memory.
The Kroger building has always been The Kroger Building. It was covered in ugly blue and white panels, but that is fixed.
Out in the street median in front of Kroger is the entrance to the abandoned Cincy Subway. You should make an appointment to see it next time thru.
Peace
Great Video 🎉 That is so nice your brought your Uncle a puppy 💕 Sending Your Uncle Continued Healing and Good Health 🙏🙏🙏 and The Sign museum was too cool! The retro signs my Mom and I were calling out when we saw them brought back so many memories 😁
Were so excited that you were in Cincinnati!!!! We have never been to the sign museum, but we will have to check it out sometime. I wish you could have walked into union terminal just to check out the lobby. So beautiful and so much history! We recommend going through the Cincinnati history museum next time you are at union terminal. If you ever come back you need to check out Kings Island, Coney Island, Skyline Chili and Jungle Jim's (which we think you will LOVE!!) We really enjoyed this video!
Wow I lived in Ohio my entire life & had no desire or I mean I had no idea all this existed. We do have the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame/ NFL hall of fame, We have the two best amusement parks Cedar Point NE Ohio Sandusky. Kings Island just North of Cincinnati Ohio. Many other sites I have no idea how to find without google.
If that was the giant scary Ronald at I-71 & Rt 36-37, welcome to the neighborhood! Thanks for the tour of downtown Columbus, my adopted home.
Justin love this video especially Cincinnati as that is where I live. If you check out my Drone RUclips channel: High Sight Drone POV, I did a flight over Union Terminal in Cincy!
Hey Justin you MUST come back to Ohio in the summer and go to Cedar Point(one of the US's oldest amusement parks, TONS of history, also world class, its special) and Kings Island, its REALLY worth it (and do get the guts to ride those coasters, some of the worlds best, especially, "The Beast" and Millennium Force) (and I live in Florida....)
No way!! The Hall of Justice???I can’t wait until you go into that building! Thanks also for making me laugh today. I needed that.
That is so awesome!! I didn’t even know that we have a Sign Museum in Cincinnati 😱 I only live a hour away from Cinci!! Wish I would have known you were close by🤗 I’m glad you enjoyed my home state💖💖 and showed me things I didn’t even know we had lol
Thanks Justin! What a great unexpected visit to Ohio! Cute puppy! Wow! I appreciate your visit to the sign museum ! Memories! I do remember the satellite neon signs. There was one for a laundry mat or dry cleaners. I do remember the Kona Lanes from Costa Mesa. My surprise that nearly brought tears to my eyes was the Colonial Dairy sign! I grew up around the corner of Colonial Dairy in Santa Ana. I always loved seeing the sign lit up at night. I had a milk bottle from the dairy that some how got lost. Ooh! How I missed the fresh milk and Mother's Pride soda they carried. Thanks again Justin and please stay safe!
Perhaps a visit to the P.E.M. Memorial remembering 3 students of the same school who were among the 11 fatalities at The Who concert in Dec 1979 the next time you're in the Cincy area. Several friends and I were in the middle of the crush where those Who fans were killed.
I miss Ohio . I was from Marion .home yep snow ❄️Hi Ohio and everyone there.Thank you Justin for filming,
Loved Super Friends growing up and now living in Huntsville, Al it was great to see the old McDonald's sign even though that was from before I lived here. My other half remembers it well. He grew up here. And my Mom was from Ohio so great memories all around today.
Omg! Love it ! You were right by my house! Wish you had more time in Columbus ! Lots of cool shops, great food and our Ohio state campus ! Cleveland too! Lots of fun stuff and the rock hall! We love the sign museum and I posted the sign you love to my Disney group and people loved it too! So cool to see you here ! If you come back we’re buying dinner and taking you to the arcades!😀
Wow, you were in my home state. I moved away 31 years ago this week, in fact. I went to college in Cincinnati and have been to Columbus many times. I never knew about the gavel or the sign museum. I've never been to Ashville either. So much I never knew about my birth state. Cool-ness!
That blue building you pointed to is the Kroger Grocery co building and always has been as far as I knew. I grew up in Cincinnati before moving to Anaheim to work in Hollywood. Kenner was more downtown. I could be wrong.
Dang I remember seeing that satellite sign right before you went up and over the freeway. What high school did you goto? I went to magnolia class of 99. Were you in west Anaheim little league? Flakey Jakes was always our goto because I loved the cheese sauce I would put on everything! They also had a good arcade.
Hey Justin! Always love your videos and with cases gone down in CA I hope Disneyland reopens in the coming months. (Please no hate or backlash comments)
The sign museum looks awesome. So many cool old signs. I completely understand getting emotional about an icon from your youth. To tell you the truth, I get emotional every time I see the entrance sign at Disney World. Great channel. Keep up the great work. 😎👍
Cincinnati terminal building reminds me of Buffalo Central Terminal in Buffalo NY. It was abandoned for years, until someone bought it in hopes of restoring it. It turned out to be super haunted and ended up on an episode of the original Ghost Hunters. Anyway it has a similar look to the Cincinnati terminal. Just felt like sharing. 🤷
Glad to see you back on the road. Loved the Ohio places you stopped at. Forgot all about the train station there looking like the Justic League building. I to remember the spiral ship looking thing above liquor store. Amazing it ended up in Ohio. Can't wait to see the cool stuff you find in Kentucky. There is three to four wacky places I am hoping you found while going through Kentucky ......
Great Road Trip. So where did you get the Damlmadoodle? Keep up the great work, always enjoy watching them.
Wonderful slice of Americana at the old sign museum 😀 Their electricity bill must be huge! Thanks for the surprise road trip Justin 👍
I live here. Wish I could have met you. Glad you enjoyed the sign museum. There is a bar on Eastern Ave. that has a large amount of neon lights. They have a lot of old ones and actually last year just sent some they had to the museum. Love your videos. Be safe. Travel safe and hug Ally when you get home. Thanks for taking me with you. Love you guys! Scleep well!
Wowoo. Roadtrip!!! This is awesome. Greetings from a very snowy Germany 🤙
Wow Im amazed they let the pup in the cabin of the plane!!NO no.......no clowns and dont stop at the clown motel!!!
Hah! The Kona Lanes sign was from my old neighborhood in Costa Mesa. I'm very happy to see that it survived the demolition, at least partially.
Justin, you always find the cool stuff to show. The Ronald McDonald and friends statue is epic. I love McDonald Mascots and wish they still used them. Stay safe on your road trip home.
Did you get anything from the gift shop at the American Sign Museum? Also I remember watching a documentary on that building, it was a train station, then it was abandoned, because a mall that also failed and believe it was going to be knocked down but was bought by the museum.
The Cincinnati Garden sign actually used to be the sign over one of Cincinnati's oldest arenas. The Cincinnati Royals professional basketball team used to play there. I worked there in college for concerts and special events. It was torn down a couple of years ago.
Always excited for a new video. Thanks for bringing us along.
The sign museum reminds me of the Neon Museum that's not too far from you in Glendale, California. The Ohio museum seems bigger on the inside, but the Glendale museum looks nicer on the outside. I'm pretty sure the cost to rent a square foot of real estate in Southern California is about 3 times the cost of Ohio. All cool places to visit, though!
the good old days of going over the little Hill that went in front of that then having to do the U-turn in order to get to the Del Taco that was just across the street. When we would take trips to Disneyland our folks would always get a motel room at the Sandman and we would get so excited cuz when we saw the satellite and the Del Taco we knew we were getting closer to the motel which meant we'd be going to Disneyland the next morning.
A bright full moon a cloudless sky another death no reason why...... burma-shave.
If you know where that comes from you win major points. Cuz that was the first thing that went through my head when I first heard that line I added burma-shave and always do now.
wow bro i wish i could have went on this trip with you i loved the mcd's and phillps 66 neon signs, but as you know ever since my freak seizure epsodie when i got on a plane in 2015 from sf to vegas (as well as a brain tumor) im banned from planes by my team of drs #sadfaceemoji that's so cool i also loved the one traffic light thx man now i think i need to watch the first cars movie remember: every light is slower than the last light lol (how long is the drive from ohio back home anyway?)
That IS so cool to find that Satellite sign.. I remember it and the Kona Lanes.. They need to be brought back home to Anaheim! 😥👍💗
Welcome to Ohio! I live right down the road from the creepy McDonalds statue 😂
Cincinnati is the best with unique places to go! I won’t be able to go to union terminal without thinking of the hall of justice now. Ha! Glad you enjoyed my home town!
I live in Ohio and have always wanted to go to the sign museum. A good place for some sick pics lol! Wish I would of known you were in town, it would have been cool to say hello. Thanks for the video!
Glad you could swing through Ohio and Columbus. Its really not as bad as everyone says it is, minus the current weather obviously
That neon museum is really cool. I grew up in Anaheim just north of Disneyland and I remember that Satellite sign. Katella used to have all kinds of cool old signs before the resort master plan changed everything to look similar. Stay safe out there.
I don't remember the satellite sign, but the Kona Lanes sign took me back. I used to spend a lot of time in the bowling alley, and even more time in the attached diner. Ahhhh. Nostalgia!
I remember the satellite sign. There were similar in orange but what that sign reminds me of, is the Satellite Market in downtown Orange. Good memories of the circle and taking art classes in the basement of Johnson's Paint, just south of the circle. Last time I looked it was an antique store.
Did u love the real life Hall of Justice? Visiting that place is on my bucket list
