I know he's singing about something deeper... But for me personally, when I heard this song it reminded me of when I met my wife.
I was so alone, and suddenly all that mattered to me was holding her. Like, when we are lucky enough to just be together, all the pain outside that moment doesn't matter.
And everything that happened to me before we met was suddenly so far away and unimportant.
I just wanted to share my own perspective on some of those lyrics.

Just a note that will help you and your viewers:
When you have a couple of songs that should be played together don't pause between the songs, most times the transition between the songs is really important to the composition. This song is a perfect example, go back an listen to the end of Parabol and beginning of Parabola without pausing and you'll understand why it's important. See ya on the next one!

Another band as unique as Tool, just in a total other way and a different style yet with overlaps, I suggest to you: Opeth - Reverie/Harlequin Forest, also Windowpane is one of the most chill tracks ever. I am certain you will like their songs, at least a few of them for now. I promise you that they will expand your musical taste and appreciation since there is no band like Opeth, just like there is no band like Tool.
