    I am in my sixties and going to college. Taking pre-calculus this semester has been a challenge specially when you have an instructor who doesn’t explain that clear like you do. Thank you for making math less scary, and thank you for the extra tips you included in your videos.

    you can also transpose the numbers example 8x + 4y = 40, instead of combining them together you can move the numbers in the equal but if you transposed it pass the equal sign, therefore it can make the number opposite sign and what will happen is instead of 8x -8x + 4y = 40 -8x, it will become 4y = 40 - 8x.
    idk if i explained it correctly but it is a easier to trick so it is not complicated

    8:40 why did he divide ALL the terms by 4? i thought you just do it once to each side of the equal sign?

      No, you have to do it to the entire side. You can't just divide a single term by 4, you must do it to all terms.

      Because if you divide just one term, you change the overall value of the equation, making a new equation basically. If you multiply a whole equation by a, you also have to multiply each term on each side by a so as to not change the value of the expression.

    Sometimes, we have no choice at all other than dealing with fractions, like in other problems, so, it is best to stay away from them; but I need to get used to dealing with fractions... So I would still be fine with dealing w/fractions.

    So how do you determine that 3 is multiplied by x and need to divide all by 3? Because 2x3=6 and 3x4=12 or is there something else?
