Yes, I agree. That we need money to do the paper work. But from my experience nowadays it is improving. Before it’s more difficult than that. From my experience and what I know, my aunt who live in the state came back to Cambodia for ID card renewal when her ID is about to expire and there is no problem at all. Unless you leave your ID expired for a long time it’s will be a bit difficult. When you have ID card most of the things will be easier. I saw your last vlog about buying the land. If your land already have the hard title under your name that’d be ok. But if you haven’t got the hard title. When the time come ,you will need more documents for the process. For example: valid ID card, Family book, marriage certificate…etc and all need to have original with certified copy from the district. Anyway, enjoying ur vlog sis. For someone who already have an existing ID or Passport, I just don’t think it should be difficult. There is a number identifier on each document which they can do a look up and reprint/renew. We just have to pay and provide the updated information such as the mailing address, height, weight and etc. But this they ask us to start brand new. That was why it pissed me off.

I've been watching your family vlogs for a couple years but I hardly comment. I'm so sorry that you had to do a whole run around for a renewal that could simply be done. You had proof to renew. Like most people say, that in Cambodia it takes $$$$ to get things done. Look foward to the next video!

Yes, it was a headache. Especially when I know it is possible but they make you do the rounds. And not being a local makes it harder for us to go to the places they point us to. When we do get there, we hit another road block.

Yes, I agree with your opinion about the way things run in Cambodia. Based on my experiences, money talks in Cambodia. Last year, I got my Cambodian ID card and passport. Just like your husband, sis they gave me a hard time at Aeon Mall 2 Office and we have all the proper documents. I have a Cambodian birth certificate and I was born in the US and my name is on the resident book, my mom has one because she owns land. Reason I need a Khmer ID is because just in case my mom needs to transfer the lands she owns into my name or my older brother, a Khmer ID would make it easier. Aeon 2 is terrible ... the officer there didn't want to help us because he didn't like my birth certificate stating that I was born in the US, he suggested I go to the office that issued my Khmer birth document which is the Chbar Ampov office. Him refusing to process my ID and passport was like he wanted us to beg and throw money at him. But we didn't because we have a connection at the Chbar Ampov passport and ID office. We just went to Aeon 2 on a whim and see if we can process it "normally" without having to shell extra money for our connection. My friend told me that these officers working at these offices need to go back to law school because Royal Cambodian law decree, as long as we have Cambodian blood we are entitled to Cambodian nationality and rights, even if we weren't born in Cambodia. The next day, I went to the Chbar Ampov office, I gave them $400 for the passport and Khmer ID. They didn't haggle or harass me at the office, and everything went smoothly, they allow me to cut in line and take a picture since I paid extra and treated like VVIP. It took 5 days to get my Khmer ID and passport, and they delivered to the exact place I had requested it to be sent to.

@sokpeaoky8852 I paid extra to the officers that help, and expedite service is a bit more. My mom paid the regular price for a Cambodian passport but it took her 3 weeks to receive it. I rushed it because I wanted to get my documents ASAP.

I was in Cambodia November 2023. I was scared to death, traffic!!!!! seemed nobody followed the traffic rules. My tuk tuk driver said if you stay in line will create traffic congestion so everybody rush or try to find way out!! Make no sense to me still .

I would hope to see them change soon because I feel they may lose out on a lot of opportunities. People want to get a passport because they want to travel. Travel brings in money for the country too. People want their ID maybe for investment reasons, those generate income for the country too. To turn them down or make the process difficult is really not a good way to go.
