The only kid out of ALL the teams that went to the NHL was a kid they all thought was going nowhere because he was spoiled and his dad was not a “team player”, that kid was Zach Hyman, and now he plays for the Leafs. Also has to be one of the nicest, hardworking and humble guys in the league.

This kid clearly has the desire and work-ethic required to put in the hours and become elite. But let's not forget the advantages that are giving him that opportunity. His dad played at a high level, his parents clearly have money to get him a personal coach, ice time on San Antonio's single ice rink, and they even built him his own personal faux-ice training rink in his back yard. They most "unreal" thing about this situation, next to his obvious skills, is the amount of money that he was lucky to be born into.

He just fake groans about how he has to take his kid here and there for hockey practices and tryouts and out of town provincial games, etc. He's super proud of him though. His kid just got drafted into the WHL. We all joke he's going to retire once his kid makes it to the big league.*

Don't mean to hate or anything, but you should see the way that kids in Canada play. I was 2 when i started skating. This kid is good, but that's cause his parents have money. Ice time runs over $200/hr where I live. Most kids just can't afford to train the way that he does and lots of them end up just as good. He stands out because he doesn't live in a hockey culture and looks incredible by comparison.
