I remember all the coaches talking about which 9 year old was going to be drafted when my two boys were playing in the GTHL in Toronto. The only kid out of ALL the teams that went to the NHL was a kid they all thought was going nowhere because he was spoiled and his dad was not a “team player”, that kid was Zach Hyman, and now he plays for the Leafs. Also has to be one of the nicest, hardworking and humble guys in the league.

His dad played at a high level, his parents clearly have money to get him a personal coach, ice time on San Antonio's single ice rink, and they even built him his own personal faux-ice training rink in his back yard. @@gavinpye7040 if it is within the rules sure, why not? but i doubt that would be a huge advantage as control would most likely be alot harder. i actually was a goalie and sliding was never a huge issue especially on good ice, i always struggled with control. it takes alot more skill to slide with your upper body stationary and square to a moving puck.

@@anthonylabarba310 when he says average, he means average for high level hockey for his age. AAA hockey in Canada at his age is still extremely competitive and if he played for one of those teams, he would be just another player, a long shot from being a superstar.
