      I mean, Behringer just clone more expensive pedals in cheaper cases, but the circuit is the same or slightly re-voiced (maybe some expensive components get subbed out and that's what causes it?). This overdrive is just the well-loved Boss ODB-3 but with a plastic case.

    hi Patrick, i've been using that pedal for 5 years now, hard to get good pedals in Peru, it works good for giving the bass some character, like a clean blend with some drive but you can reall boost the lows exceptionally well with this thing, like you said it has some really good tones, so if you are looking for something that can give some spunk and huge lows to your tone, 25 bucks is not that bad

    Sounds like the boss overdrive which at first I didnt like but I found the more subtle I set the pedal it was very useful. Probably the same with this pedal. For rock stuff i usually run the overdrive all the time set super low for a little separation in the mix. This would probably be good for that.

    I get the synthetic sound and don’t disagree, I’ve had it on my gigging board for two years now, and amazed that it holds up the way it does! Put it behind a decent preamp or for that matter even just a decent compressor and it pulls out most of that synthetic quality, and for anyone looking, Patrick said it best; there’s a lot of surprisingly useful tones

    Nice find, i see this all over the place but plastic scares me. I use the ODB-3 as my only effect for basseroo. My trick is to keep the gain knob very low, blend at 9 o'clock, and a slight bass boost/teb cut for a sweet fizz. Not a "blow out yer ears" kind of vibe. A lot of people blast the gain knob and that is not my cup of tea for bass anyway. Nice vid Patrick, see you in the next one!

    • @TobyBarnettMusic
      @TobyBarnettMusic 5 лет назад

      Same settings I use with my ODB-3! More subtle but it works. Think mine might be faulty though - I have to crank the level wayy up, to level-match against the bypassed signal. How about you?

    That pedal was the very first bass pedal that I got to use. A friend lent it to me a decade ago to play around with and I remember being very, very happy with the sounds I got from it. Especially since I was mostly playing Muse tunes then which the pedal helped with capturing the fuzz/OD tones. Very fun pedal at the right price for both beginner and veteran players!

  • @ShaWar102
    @ShaWar102 5 лет назад +6

    You say synthetic, I say awesome. Unless you're playing in a band with no guitar player, I don't think it's a big deal. With some eq adjustment or add it with another distortion pedal to boost the overdrive, I think it sounds fine. I just bought a used one for $15 after watching this video. I already had a bass attack 2 for minor tube warmth on my pedal board. I hooked this up before the bass wah, and adjusted it to add more crunch and thought it sounded pretty good. Now I have one pedal for slight overdrive and one more a much heavier effect.

    I just picked one of these up, replaced a Boss ODB-3 I had to sell last year when I ran out of cash - grabbed it cheap off Amazon with a voucher and it arrived, but I have to say, overall, I'm not that impressed. It's taken a lot of effort to get it sounding even remotely close to what I was looking for, but at the same time, it does what it says on the tin and at £20 in the UK, I can't really complain. But, I'll be looking to sell this on later in the year and probably go back to a Boss ODB. Do like Behringer Pedals though, I love the Behringer BEQ and Behringer BDI pedals - especially the BDI, was looking to get a SansAmp, but then decided to try the BDI, and it's fucking great! Just jumping on videos to try and see other peoples settings for the BOD, cheers for the video dude. Have a like, and a nice day.

    bro, honestly... it sounds pretty good! there are lots of shitty pedals around 89usd or more... that “agro” is a pretty lame pedal, and expensive... the same applies to the ampeg scrambler... this behringer’s plastic boots kicks their fancy metal asses up and down the street.

      I recently got an ampeg scrambler 85 pound it cost and I've never bin so disappointed. This behringer one sounds loads better

      I was actually deciding whether to buy that or the Behringer BDI21. Unfortunately stocks ran out for the Wine Cellar so I ended up with the BDI21. No regrets though as it is one great Sansamp clone!

      @@juancarlosjasa7047 I living in China, Behringer BDI21 and Caline CP-60 price gap is big. BDI 21 $48.18, CP-60 $29.37. Both are made in China. My CP-60 deliver today and I also order CP-62 Snake Bite (reverb).
      Caline has another Bass Driver + DI pedal name as CP-59

      Most of the time, the synthetic tone is caused by the eyes seeing a cheap looking pedal.

    yea sounds ok just like a boss should. but you must be talking about the famous Boss fizz. to me It's more like the high frequency that is always there or something. It's like it is in all their dirt pedals or something. Even with a blind fold I hear it.It's not really bad ,But you can recognize it. I should know, own every od and distortion ever made .Yep even the HM2 and xt and Od20. Boss distortion gets a lot of hate. But to each their own

    No no no no no, all deep respect Patrick but it's not as underwhelming as you think-- you have to work it. Plus it's not that much like an ODB 3 (which actually does kind of suck so that's a good thing...)
    And one other thing, again with praise and respect, work it with other pedals, boosts and drives in front, in front of different preamps, etc. In front of a good B-15 pedal or a full plate voltage tube pre it's fantastic. Put it in front of a Sansamp VT, dial 'em in. Put modulation after.
    I wish it were feasible for creators to do pedal demos with combos. For example, the Ancient Muff Fuzz For Bass Chase which always ends in tears over lost low end. Put a Rat in front of the muff. Trust.
    I think the biggest issue with these behringers Is the risk of deep street cred loss and they look like they got pulled out of an Easter basket. It's regrettable. But this one and the Super Fuzz are totally underrated. Put your best engineer on, invoke Juan Alderate de le Pena, and tweek those knobs man

    The 'good sounds' that I get out of it (obviously very biased about what 'good' is) are when the balance/mix knob is set to about 70% dry. Then you just add in a bit of the overdrive sound with as much gain as your sound calls for & BAM! Decent overdrive bass. The tone controls affect both drive and clean, which pisses me off. I want my clean to be clean... But again, for anyone needing something decent on the cheap, it's totally legit. Massive plus with this one is that you don't lose low frequencies.. even with a 5-string. A LOT of pedals that bassists typically use for dirt roll so much low end off....

    I don't like the sound of that pedal, but one thing is sometimes wrong with these Behringer pedal reviews. Those so serious negative comments about plastic covers, why? User must be crazy or what is more sadly, idiot if he/ she breaks it.

  • @homevalueglass3809
    @homevalueglass3809 3 года назад

    Sounded decent with just a pinch of gain like at 3:50. But yeah, sounds kind of garbage with high gain. The Boss sounds way better, watching other videos. Nice playing, btw, sounds real good.
