Thanks for the opportunity. I don’t miss any of your videos. I am an old (dilapidated, pensioner) Winforms developer trying to learn .Net Maui. I battle like crazy with the look and feel of the app I am trying to build and the Grial UI Kit looks like it could help me a lot, especially in the esthetic department. I will not be able to afford the license at this stage so I am holding my breath! I am convinced that my app can be of great assistance in the health and safety (Risk Management) industry where mobility of data is crucial.
This looks great, EXCEPT, the price of this software is per application! This is fine for big companies with big pockets, but us little guys certainly can't afford $399/application to use this software, especially when we write stuff for non-profits or not-for-profit places. Reminds me of tools like Telerik & DevExpress, etc. where the little guy can't afford these, either. Gerald, keep writing your great RUclips videos about Net MAUI so us little guys can learn how to affordably write software solutions!
Appreciate the feedback! But I like to think of it this way: if you need to hire a designer or maybe even do the work yourself to set all of this up. What is your hourly rate? I think you’ll get to that 399 pretty fast. 40 per hour and you’ll reach it in about one day of work and you probably can’t get all of this done in that time. I think it’s a fair price. But of course I can’t determine if it’s something you will want or can afford :) It goes without saying that my videos will keep on coming for absolutely free!

#ILoveGrial - Thanks you for another great video on C# and .NET MAUI. I've been using your videos along with James' to learn C# and .NET MAUI. As a lifelong programmer who's just learning C# and .NET MAUI because of its ability to be write once and run everywhere I believe Grial would really speed up the development for an application that I'm in the process of designing and coding. Like many I'm in the stage of application development where I have what I think is a great idea and no revenue stream, so I have been building on the shoulders of those who have provided free and open-source software libraries ahead of me.
This is great Gerald, i hope the pricing of the license gets reduced a little since it is built for developers and not many developers can afford it. Also i would suggest if they work more on the customisation parts with existing pages they created, it will be a deal breaker.
Personally I think we have gotten a bit too used to getting everything for free through amazing community contributions. The price seems pretty fair to me seeing what you get for it. Of course I can't decide who should be able to afford it or not, but I don't think you can do the same work that they put into this for less than this price. Not sure what you mean with the customisation. You can customise EVERYTHING once you've downloaded the code.
@@jfversluis I've not checked it out yet, but having customisable button, tabbar, nav bar, picker, grid etc could be lot more helpful like if you're making something kind of plug n play, we can get the code in the components folder added so we can just use it. something like that.
In Italy we have said that can be translated as "Appearance matters too". You can make the most useful app of the world, but if there is not a clear, beautiful to see and UX standards compliant interface, the client will choose another one. That's why #appearancematterstoo
I could not agree more! I've seen apps that do similar things but one maybe does it better but looks a little less attractive, the other app will most definitely win. Sad sometimes, but that's how it works! It improves UX and the joy that people have from working with your app. Thanks for sharing this!

They created an awesome way for creating an application very easily! The price of the licence is expensive, espacially for small companies, or for open-source soloutions. But building this awesome toolkit costs a lot and you get all the source code as well. #ILoveGrial

I respectfully disagree. This is exactly the type of thing that other companies can do and let their creativity go free. Is there any other (free) framework out there that has a library with these designs etc that you can pick from? Microsoft, or any other company, can't do it all, neither should they.
@@jfversluis hmmm very true yes. I was talking more about the visual designer, I should have specified that now I come to think of it. I agree, the full scope of the tool is more of a third party thing for sure, but the visual design aspect of it is something that Microsoft should implement.

I personally need GrialKit to offer my clients another option to develop their application since this will speed-up a lot the process. @@jfversluis Well ... if you take Epic with their Unreal Engine, or Unity ... as an example. There you only have to pay for a licence once you have achieved a certain minimum turnover with your product. As an indie developer, you don't just have $400 (which is the cheapest offer at Grialkit, but also doesn't offer the full scope) on the side that you can invest "just for fun". Especially if you don't know whether you will recoup this expenditure through any app sales (unless you offer the app for free anyway ... then that's a horrendous expense which you will never recoup).

So by the video title, I understood that we are up to an amazing and exiting product again that will make the development of a .NET MAUI app a breeze. With that mind set, I sat down and watched carefully the video, which, frame after frame unraveled all the mysteries contained in the Treasure Box which had the title, the Grial Kit 4. I said to my self, you must get this product to fast-forward your application development processes. Then I said to myself, well, if you say, you cannot afford a license free, just be patient and perhaps you will get a free license by curtesy of one and only Gerald Versluis. #ILoveGrial

@@jfversluis absolutely correct. Get a list of addresses or stops and optimise the journey for shortest time or shortest distance etc. That's my aim, i know there are apps out there which do this very thing, but i want to improve my skills and fond out if I can achieve this on my own.
I'm working on a side project that will be a game settled in my home community. I gathered a lot of geolocations like benches, postboxes and other stuff like churches, fireguardstations etc. in the last year and now I want to build a game something like geocaching / scavanger hunt. For that it would be nice to have some prebuild functionality like #ILoveGrial on the hand. And because its a private side project, buying an "expensive" license is not an option. So: may be the juice with me ;-)

#DissapointedInGrial I like your videos but think this might be a paid for review? I purchased the extremely pricey Grial because it looks amazing and then tried using it for a few weeks. I went through the effort of launching my app with it and then weeks later went through the effort of completely removing it. The support from Grial wasn't great, I still have a support ticket open a year later... The framework feels clunky and heavy, makes the app slower than it should be and really bumped up my APK size too.

I do want to debunk the myth about this being a paid review, it's not, nothing is on my channel and if something will be in the future I will be super transparent about it. I love their product, I love sharing the love, that is all I wanted to be doing.

#ILoveGrial : I have been working on a weight tracker app to help myself and others keep track of their weight loss. Grial will help with the development time and create the best-looking app out possible.
I don't know how it is over there, but here $400 is about one days rate for an external person, if they're cheap. And they cannot design the amount of pages that are available here for my app. And me doing it myself will easily go over that $400. I can't tell anyone what is cheap or not, everyone has to decide for themselves, but I think it's pretty good value for money to be honest. Additionally, Grail Kit did announce that some designs will probably become available for free, at least for you try out. Maybe that could be interesting!

@@niks2042 From what I have seen, all those components are in there and you'll get the full XAML so you can customize is.
Note that their license is perpetual which you don't see that often these days.

I respectfully disagree. This is exactly the type of thing that other companies can do and let their creativity go free. Is there any other (free) framework out there that has a library with these designs etc that you can pick from? Microsoft, or any other company, can't do it all, neither should they.
@@jfversluis hmmm very true yes. I was talking more about the visual designer, I should have specified that now I come to think of it. I agree, the full scope of the tool is more of a third party thing for sure, but the visual design aspect of it is something that Microsoft should implement.

I personally need GrialKit to offer my clients another option to develop their application since this will speed-up a lot the process. Also, I would love to use this tool for introducing k-12 students to apps development.

There you only have to pay for a licence once you have achieved a certain minimum turnover with your product.
As an indie developer, you don't just have $400 (which is the cheapest offer at Grialkit, but also doesn't offer the full scope) on the side that you can invest "just for fun". Especially if you don't know whether you will recoup this expenditure through any app sales (unless you offer the app for free anyway ... then that's a horrendous expense which you will never recoup).

@@jfversluis absolutely correct. Get a list of addresses or stops and optimise the journey for shortest time or shortest distance etc. That's my aim, i know there are apps out there which do this very thing, but i want to improve my skills and fond out if I can achieve this on my own.
I'm working on a side project that will be a game settled in my home community. I gathered a lot of geolocations like benches, postboxes and other stuff like churches, fireguardstations etc. in the last year and now I want to build a game something like geocaching / scavanger hunt. For that it would be nice to have some prebuild functionality like #ILoveGrial on the hand. And because its a private side project, buying an "expensive" license is not an option. So: may be the juice with me ;-)

Because of that thought how am I to add something not created with their web designer flow bit? Also their code looked a little convoluted, at first glance that seems to not be the norm now! From what I understand you have 1 license for 1 app in the store. That can be on 2 platforms though.
#DissapointedInGrial I like your videos but think this might be a paid for review? I purchased the extremely pricey Grial because it looks amazing and then tried using it for a few weeks. I went through the effort of launching my app with it and then weeks later went through the effort of completely removing it. The support from Grial wasn't great, I still have a support ticket open a year later...
The framework feels clunky and heavy, makes the app slower than it should be and really bumped up my APK size too.

I do want to debunk the myth about this being a paid review, it's not, nothing is on my channel and if something will be in the future I will be super transparent about it. In one word, no. While I subscribe to the view, that a workman is worth his hire, for an individual developer, $400 for one app is not cost effective.
I don't know how it is over there, but here $400 is about one days rate for an external person, if they're cheap. And they cannot design the amount of pages that are available here for my app. And me doing it myself will easily go over that $400. I can't tell anyone what is cheap or not, everyone has to decide for themselves, but I think it's pretty good value for money to be honest.
Additionally, Grail Kit did announce that some designs will probably become available for free, at least for you try out. Maybe that could be interesting!
