suggestions:
deviate from the original time signatures and spacing
distinguish the original vocal melody by giving it its own section / harmonic range
give the building tension a more drawn out, less linear journey
allow the notes to strain and deviate from the strict chromatic scale of the key, since the original arrangements often lean into that fun stuff, if by accident or on purpose
