- balthazar for breakfast (french toast was delicious)

-walk in central park
-MOMA gallery (and the design shop across the road opposite!)
-Rockerfeller centre (black seed bagel )

Banana pudding is a classic American dessert. It is layered like a trifle and usually features vanilla pudding (custard), “nilla wafers” (a famous cookie here), bananas and whipped cream. Definitely a nostalgic childhood favorite most people!
I have been looking for a recipe to try it cuz it not available where i live, it sounds and look delicious, i feel like the combination of flavors will not turn bad
@@ichigo9990 if you want the most authentic recipe you should search “soul food banana pudding recipe”. It’s a Black American dessert and that will give you the best recipes if you really want to try it.
@@ichigo9990 you definitely need vanilla wafers (Nilla is a brand,) and instant pudding (like Jello brand.) And bananas. Whipped cream is good; I've seen it done with meringue on top, although I've never tried it. Tbh, I don't usually top it. Just the cookies, pudding, and banana. And let it sit in the fridge till the cookies start to fall apart. You'll have to judge for yourself how soft you want your cookies.
@@MelissaThompson432 My mom used to make it from scratch. She would often put a meringue top and lightly brown it. In the Paula Deen version she uses Pepperidge Farms Chessmen cookies in place of the Nilla wafers. I’m the family weirdo that doesn’t like banana pudding.
Banana pudding is made with vanilla wafers, a type of cookie (biscuit to you), bananas, and you make a custard. Layer the cookies and bananas and put the custard on each layer. Top layer is custard, and many (me included) top with a meringue. It’s a traditional Southern recipe. It’s found at every family gathering, church suppers, and so on. Before holiday meals my family begins calling me asking if I’m bringing the banana pudding.
As a native New Yorker, it was refreshing to see New York through your eyes. I love that you called them hashtag and lattice fries lol… magnolias banana pudding is to die for. My company did the security for summit OVA and I got to go when it was empty. Wonderful experience! Also the Chick-fil-A Cobb salad is amazing!! I’m so happy you had an authentic NYC bagel. So many wonderful things.
There's something really joyful about watching Grace absolutely FLIP OUT over things I take completely for granted as a New Yorker. ETA: I think the film you're thinking of with the rink is Serendipity and, yes, I think that was Wollman Rink in the film. ETA 2: No, Grace. You don't want to go to Fordham. Or Poughkeepsie. ETA 3: LAST ONE I SWEAR I'VE NOW FINISHED WATCHING. I realize this isn't helpful as you're back in England now, but in case you remember for next time! On the Grace Booth Food Tourism front: maybe next time try to do fewer US national chains and more NYC-specific places? I'd recommend checking out Kalustyan's on 28th and Lex, which is a spice specialty store which has absolutely EVERYTHING. You can find any international/difficult to find spice there, and it's good for travel because obviously spices are dried and come in small packets. Also, Economy Candy on Rivington between Essex and Ludlow has really amazing/unusual sweets which seems right up your alley. I'm partial to their homemade Turkish Delight, but I've heard from halvah lovers that they also do that well! Also maybe instead of Chick-Fil-A try getting a good Halal Chicken Dinner! And there are some very good dim sum places in Chinatown!
Yeah I don’t think Grace is Muslim so why on Earth would she need halal food?!
@@silvershoes9724 you don't have to be Muslim to enjoy halal food! I'm assuming many good chicken places in NYC that Mary knows about also tend to be halal. nothing wrong with halal.
@@keevy7678 Halal is unfortunately more cruel than regular meat - animals have their throats slit and are left to bleed out whilst they’re alive.
I appreciate that this is religious practice for a lot of people but it’s not something to be encouraged if it’s not a necessity for religious purposes.

I’m glad they’re not, I spend way too much time on here as it is and I like variety anyway, so as I scale down my viewing I’ll be happy I have only Grace and a couple of other channels to watch ☺️.

Bryant Park (no square in the name) is a little different right before Christmas when it has the full winter village and then again in the summer when it has a giant movie screen. It is super popular in the summer when the lawn is open and you see thousands of people from all the offices surrounding it out and about.
We love the ice rink at Bryant Park. So fun with all the food vendors.

St Pancras is nice, but you have to go upstairs to see the older parts that aren't covered by modern materials and shops. Also, check out the front façade (which is now a hotel).
Oh Grack, how fun. You were in my old hood where I worked for 14 years. Between Rock Center and Moma. The Moma store is amazing. Banana Pud the best but yes you should have gotten a cupcake too. Enjoy and thank you for sharing.

Serendipity is the movie you might have been thinking of. When I visited NYC, I went to the Serendipity Cafe that was featured in the film. Loved Bryant Park and visited only gift shops for condensed versions of museums and tourist sites.

It’s so funny how differently we see places when we’re from somewhere else. I’m American and while it was cool and memorable the first time I saw Grand Central, I was awestruck when I visited King’s Cross. Partly because I’m a Harry Potter nerd lol but I thought London was so beautiful and charming in general compared to cities in the US. Although Edinburgh was my favorite and I really enjoyed getting to revisit it in your recent video 🥰

There are actually a lot of healthy options at Chick-fil-A. The grilled chicken sandwich for instance is only 380 calories.

@@jonap5740 the grilled chicken sandwich actually doesn’t have a lot of any of that. It has a good amount of fat (which is a required part of a healthy diet). Doesn’t have a lot of sugar. Doesn’t have a ton of salt. And it stated by dietitians that it is a healthy choice.
